Confused About Patch 6

I reinstalled GTAIV today since Patch 6 conflicted with all the mods I had (SHFX20 error after the legal screens).

I've heard people saying that the files are now encrypted - doesn't seem to be the case for me. Is it only EFLC that's encrypted? And if so, is it still possible to install mods (albiet once new tools are released for the patch) for a non-EFLC game?

I don't think it is encrypted simply because I am playing my GTA IV modded with Realizm IV 6.2 with patch 6. I am not even using anything else. If the files were encrypted surely this Mod would fail. I have seen reports and information that appears to suggest that the DLC content is completely encrypted, even down to a simple text file!

 

Your Mods conflicted with patch 6 because they rely on hooks which will only work after Scripthook or other ASI loaders have been updated. Only purely visual Mods will work at the moment. My relationships have been Modded as well to make peds more violent as well as adding more gangs and this also worked fine too!

Well, that's good to hear. I was thinking that normal IV had become encrypted too.

What about other non-script mods, such as replacement cars? Will they still work if a new version of SparkIV comes out for the patch?

All my car mods are still in the game.
