I really don't know how some of you people are capable of enjoying this HOBBY.  Do any of you remember what it felt like to play video games and just have fun with them?  I'm highly doubting.

And good 'ole CharmingCharlie, STILL around acting like a lunatic at every turn. That guy is going to end up in a mental institution.  If he isn't there already.

I doubt you can enjoy the game if you have crappy performance on a top end system or don't have an x360 pad. It's not the full experience is it?

I had to go out and buy a x360 pad(Madcatz) because joypads are not supported properly at all in GFWL games like GTA IV. I had to use the x360 emulation hack. Is that just to much to ask?

Performance is ok for me but it's hardly been the best experience compared to the other games I have, which stops me from having "fun". But really though, is it too much to ask for Rockstar to fix these issues? without having 6 patches?

or don't have an x360 pad.

Controls are perfect and even better than in some "True PC" games. My point is otherwise - I can't imagine GTA 4 on controller.

And BTW didn't notice physics change at all.

Well, some people like to drive using a joypad with an analogue stick rather than keys.

I usually play PC games with keyboard/mouse however I use an Xbox 360 Gamepad on GTA IV for that version reason, the driving, Driving games are so much more fun with analogue controls and GTA IV driving although not as in depth or realistic as driving simulators is no exception.

Overall I think the controls in GTA IV are fine.

I only use a game pad when driving, unless I'm shooting while driving. My gamepad isn't fully compatible and some game controls do not work when using it. But I only want the game pad for driving, which works 100% fine, so I don't want or need an emulator.

And the physics are just fine for me. I plowed into several peds in cars and on bikes, as well as on foot, and didn't notice any change. Still the same.

To me now it seems like some people are just looking for any little thing to point out to complain, Just play the damn game, if you want a better game. Make one yourself, Until then, stop complaining. nothing is ever perfect.

On a side note. I'm not updating to this new patch for the simple fact I dont play MP and I'm getting EFLC on disc  monocle.gif

So let me just see if I have this straight ? You have no intention of using this patch but you think those that are using it should "stop complaining". Many of the things that Rockstar fixed in this patch were also "dismissed" by people when the problems were first found. If people don't point out the problems they are having then they are never going to get fixed.

If people are having problems with the patch then they should quite rightly point them out and ask others on here if they have had a similar experience. I personally haven't said much about the new patch because I have no intention of installing GTA 4 again to try the patch out. However from what I have seen from the comments so far it doesn't look like it is worth bothering with the patch at all.

I just got EFLC for PC and installed the latest patch. It just feels like the cars and bikes are floating. Handling is all wrong, get in a truck, you can now do a full J turn with the handbreak. When you run over a dead body in a truck, the truck jumps up in the air (i'm not talking a little bump, im talking all four wheels leave the ground spinning around 180 degrees in the air). Vehicle movement is unresponsive, and swtiches between full responsiveness to a two second lag.

I hope there is a way to use patch 1.0.0.4 for EFLC. Something is seriously f*cked up.

Commercial success

Shares of Take-Two Interactive gained as much as 3.4% amid positive reviews before the game's launch.[131] Scott Hillis of Reuters said first week sales of the game were expected to reach $400 million.[131] Some observers suggested that GTA IV's success could dampen the box office for the 2 May 2008 release of Iron Man, setting a precedent where movie studios will begin browsing video-game release dates to check for conflicts.[132] Matt Richtel of The New York Times said the game's release was "expected to be one of the biggest video game debuts ever" and said 5 million copies of the game were expected to be sold in the first two weeks.[133] Analyst Michael Pachter predicted the game will sell 11 to 13 million units by the end of 2008. Pachter also expects Grand Theft Auto IV to represent 3.2% of all US and European software sales for 2008 and for lifetime sales of the game to reach 16 to 19 million.[134] Analyst Evan Wilson predicted that Grand Theft Auto IV would have opening week sales of $550 million.[134]

Upon release, Grand Theft Auto IV claimed two entertainment industry sales records, posting the best single-day and seven-day sales totals for a video game.[135] The game sold more than 3.6 million copies on its first day of availability, while also selling 6 million copies in the first week of availability (garnering $500 million in sales).[136][137] In the United Kingdom, the game sold 631,000 copies on its first day of release,[138][139] making it the fastest-selling game in a 24 hour period within that region, according to Chart-Track.[140] The previous record holder in the UK, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, sold 501,000 copies within 24 hours.[139][140][141] During the first five days of availability, the title sold 1.85 million units on the Xbox 360 and 1 million on the PlayStation 3 in the United States, according to the NPD Group;[142] in the United Kingdom the Xbox 360 version sold 514,000 copies and the PlayStation 3 version sold 413,000, according to Chart-Track.[139][143] The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV are the fifth and eighth best-selling games of 2008 in the United States respectively. The Xbox 360 version sold in excess of 3.29 million, while the PlayStation 3 version sold in excess of 1.89 million for a combined 5.18 million copies in 2008 in the region.[144] GameStop and EB Games reported that the game led in sales the first week after its release, noting that its stores in Puerto Rico led all districts in pre-release reservations and sales 48 hours after its release.[145]

On 13 May 2008, Grand Theft Auto IV broke the Guinness World Records for "Highest grossing video game in 24 hours" and "Highest Revenue Generated by an Entertainment Product in 24 Hours". It sold 3.6 million copies on day one, which equalled roughly $310 million in revenue. For first day sales it also broke the record of "Fastest-selling video game in 24 hours", previously held by Halo 3 at $170 million,[146] however, its record was broken in November 2009 by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

As of 31 May 2008, the title has sold over 11 million copies to retailers and 8.5 million have been sold through to consumers, according to Take-Two Interactive.[147] According to the NPD Group and GfK Chart-Track, the game has sold 4.711 million units in the US and 1.582 million in the UK, for a total of 6.293 million units as of 1 August 2008.[148] As of 16 August 2008, the title has sold over 10 million copies through to consumers, according to Take-Two Interactive.[149] In its first four days of availability in Japan, the title sold 133,000 copies on the PlayStation 3 and 34,000 on the Xbox 360, according to Media Create.[150]

Sales for the Windows version of the game were considerably less successful. According to NPD Group the game debuted at #7 of their weekly top ten.[151] One week later, the game disappeared completely from the top ten published by NPD Group.[152][153]

To the people having problems with physics, I just wanted to point out there were *bugs* before and some strange behaviors with Euphoria. So this might be only a bug, not a missing feature.

To all the trolls who posted in this thread (you know who you are), please leave GTAF and never come back.

You better read the licence that comes with the game. It's like all proprietary software. You don't own it, you cannot redistribute it and sometimes you cannot even make a copy of it but only for backup.

Hello, I AGREE with this man, I also feel the lack of physics fluidity... and I actually fell from 50-59 FPS to 15-30 FPS only

I feel really dissapointed because I paid for a game I worked extremely hard for and I also paid for a damn expensive video card that i feel like is a bit overpriced for it's performance... I have a GTX 260 and I feel no more power... I used to feel the fun of GTA IV with all the awesome physics and stuff... but now i feel like i went from GTA IV to GTA III... Please ROCKSTAR, take note of this problem so we can still consider your Excellent service... But Cars handle better though, just less realistic.. sad.gificon13.gif

MAKE GTA IV realistic again smile.gifcryani.gif

From what I've seen, it's the very high end PC users that seem to be suffering the most mercie_blink.gif.

Btw your GTX260 is a great card. IV might suck on it, but play some other games. It really has a lot of potential smile.gif.

Your taking what I am saying out of context which seems like mostly what you do on this forum, icon13.gif It seems like MOST people that post on here complaining about the new patch this, the new patch that, are talking like they expect what came out to be a miracle fix all to make the game run fluid and perfect. well, no game is perfect. There are always going to be problems with everything that comes out. Just be happy with what you have is all I am saying.

Are you f*cking serious?

How can people be happy with losing 10 or more frames from a game where their FPS wasnt ever high to begin with? I used to get frames ranging from 30-40 now I get 20-30 and usually it sits in the low 20s'. How is complaining about a patch that f*cks sh*t up a bad thing? The point is you shouldn't have to roll back and in reality a game shouldn't need 6 f*cking patches to make the game work then not work.

Get rockstars cock out of your mouth and wise up.

I'd also like to add to what CharmingCharlie said, you say:

Just play the damn game, if you want a better game. Make one yourself

If this was a free or open source game then I'd totally agree with what you've said there, but it isn't people have paid money for the product and they should expect the service from the company. If updates are breaking the software you shouldn't HAVE to roll back to the old version, you should be able to complain and get it fixed. You paid for the service.

Well. To a extent you paid for the service, You paid for the game, Its not like when you paid for the game you get a service plan that comes with it. Just a lot of negativity about things when it comes to this game, When it really is not that bad of a game overall. People are just expecting too much is what it seems to me, but all that said.. its just my opinion.

Are you for real?

I mean you would be right as long as the game works

but as it is now? for me at least it's unplayable,

GTA IV 1.0.0.4 ran silky smooth on my rig on mid/high settings, so I bought EFLC retail, came back home,

uninstalled GTA IV (retail), installed EFLC, applied the patch and... it's totaly unplayable, sttuter like hell, all the time.

it's the same engine, this should not happen they already optimized it for the pc once but I digress.

Yes it can happen and it's ok it's happening AS LONG AS THEY WILL FIX IT AND WE WILL GET OUR SERVICE WE PAID FOR!

the game is broken I paid for a working game not a broken game, so yes, I should get service.

Let me see if I read you clear,

lets say you buy a new TV, you take it home plug it in, turn it on but the picture is distorted and full of noise, so, you should not get service? should it not be fixed or replaced?

From what you are saying I would take it you will say no? hardly.

If the game works for you than good, I am happy you can enjoy it but don't go speak BS,

many of us paid for something, it's broken, we are entitled to get service period.

You could be right on one thing though,

there sure are allot of people here just ranting out their anger with out sharing useful info on the problem (not that i don't understand)

but you are right it does not help anyone.

P.S. i love the game and the gamepley, it's fantastic, IF IT WOULD WORK!

From what I've seen, it's the very high end PC users that seem to be suffering the most mercie_blink.gif.

Btw your GTX260 is a great card. IV might suck on it, but play some other games. It really has a lot of potential smile.gif.

+1

GTA IV is not a game to benchmark your hardware on.

As far as the physics post-patch I do agree something feels simplified. Can't quite place it but it feels different.

agreed, in this patch there is something very different about the physics. i cant quite put my finger on what it is but i think it might be that the peds are heavier. also in my experience i have tried the ragdoll mod to get a better look at the physics and this is where the real disapointment comes. im not sure if it is the incompatability with the new patch or the ragdoll effects are worse.

i have more finding and more info here

please look at this thread please

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=446626

i have also posted in the ragdoll mod thread to see if the creator will make a new version

lastly i do not actually see why everyone does not like the new patch and what they have against rockstar. the new patch is absolutely perfect except for the physics imo.

also there drinks taste god XD

Don't know about patch 1.0.6.0 but the physics we're already heavily streamlined comparing patch 1.0.2.0 to 1.0.0.4.
