Yes the performance seems worse but the shadows look much better, which makes sense really. I don't see how you can have nice shadows like that and not take a performance hit. I have been here since day 1 of GTAIV release and I also have/had crappy preformance. Though, after a week I found the sweet spot in my 'configuration' that worked. With each patch I tried new things and tried new 'configurations' that either improved preformance or the visuals of my game. On top of that Boris: sure thing, you don't seem to have read my comment at all and/or only stare blind on the part where I say that I personally do not like most of your 'enhancements/features' that come with your 'mod/tool'. I'm also amazed by the medium shadow quality. They looked f*cking crappy before. Had a quick test of the latest patch and it allows modified content (in singleplayer) without having to use any 'community made' tool. Though I doubt you'll be able to go online (haven't tried this out yet as of yet). It also seems to 'auto configure' to higher settings than before... zirkulin Posted April 13, 2010 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Custom mapping for keyboard controles, is broken since the patch. I edited the default keys, to my own key bindings. There were no keys left behind with the message: "???" I want to save my keys, the following message comes up: a critical key is missing. This can't be true. I checked everything. I don't use any mods or so. Just installed the last patch over 1.0.0.5. I can't use my own keys right now. Same problem here, Cant change the keys anymore! Very annoying! mkey82 Posted April 13, 2010 Share Posted April 13, 2010 fullmetal, you understand all of that and still can't understand where the "hate" is coming from? 1. some/most people like to install the game, maybe adjust the auto settings a bit and then play. And that's possible to do with 99% PC games out there. PC games, not shoddy ports. 2. for me personally fiddling for a week to find the sweet spot as you call it is perfectly acceptable. The problem is, that sweet spot changes every bloody day, not even on the weekly basis. Today the game runs great, tomorrow I get loads of stutter. That's just the game launching the front end now. A lot better in my view. as the quote said, no separate applications, it's all done by the LaunchGTAIV.exe. I was using Xliveless and while theres no new version, I moved my saves to standart R* savegames folder, but that stupid game cant read it. Probably from having the game modded previously, maybe... Just guessing here mind you now..
