GTA1 on a netbook

Hi!

I've tried to play GTA 1 on Asus Eee netbook with Windows 7 and guess what - it doesn't work! Immediately after I start the game (launch GTA.exe) the screen goes blank. When pressing the keys I can hear the familiar sounds of GTA1 menus, so the game is actually running, just the screen is blank. If I press enter a few times to start the new game, it trows me back to windows and an error appears that says: Grand Theft Auto has stopped working.

 

Does anybody know how to fix this?

 

P.S.: I've already try to run it in Windows XP mode, but the problems stayed the same.
