Andrew
Ronnyboy, try tunebite -> http://tunebite.com/en/audials/converter-f...-mp4/start.html Supposedly its a legal method for stripping DRM from protected music.
Ronnyboy
Cool, thanks for the link. I also found another program too, it's pretty useful. Problem is, some of the music I have on there is from files I can't find anymore . Oh well, I have LimeWire. Guess I don't need an iPad now. Otter
...just de-authorize your other computers. Unless you need five backups of your itunes library? Well, most of those computers were either formatted or destroyed before they could be de-activated. You can deactivate them in the itunes store under your account options. Pico
As much as I dislike the iPad, it's awesome to see young children take so well to more advanced electronics. She's 2 and a half years old and has used her dads iPhone before, but still she took to the iPad well. And the spelling app on there must be great for kids! I will definitely want something like this for my children.
GTA3Freak-2001
What I find ironic is that the iPad is pitched as a media device. Yet it can only play TWO video codecs. This is why i think the Slate is better, it's Windows, so all you need to do is download the codecs or VLC and (as his Steveness says) BOOM. You can play just about any codec you can think of and more. Typical Apple though, I bet when it comes to the UK it'll be at least £400. For an iPod touch on steroids. Not to mention the mono speaker it has which makes even a netbook's sound actually sound decent, the iPad doesn't even come with the typical crappy apple earphones! Tornado Rex
So I'm sure you've all heard about this little Apple vs Adobe feud going on. Do you guys think if Adobe stopped making Photoshop for OSX would hurt Apple or Adobe more? ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
Scorpus
Do you guys think if Adobe stopped making Photoshop for OSX would hurt Apple or Adobe more? It would hurt Apple more by a long shot. Photoshop is a professional photo editing tool that is the standard in many workplaces so if it wasn't available for Mac OS X any more users who previously used it on a Mac would migrate to a Windows machine
LordDastardly
I agree completely with the OP - I love my iPod Touch which is basically what the iPad is but with a bigger screen. What's the big deal really?
Shaunr
So I'm sure you've all heard about this little Apple vs Adobe feud going on. Do you guys think if Adobe stopped making Photoshop for OSX would hurt Apple or Adobe more? im pretty sure it's just for flash player. Apple thinks, well i guess it is fact, that flash player has a lot of bugs for mac. flash player crashes often and sometimes can even make the browser itself crash. And apple doesn't want them doing the same for their ipad. i remember reading about that before, and it's true, cos ive had the same thing happen to me, and flash player crashes often when on youtube, and i know it's the flash player and not youtube just youtube not loading videos because if i close out of youtube and go to another site and a flash advertisement is on there, the page doesn't load so i have to restart my browser. so it does make good sense why there is no flash player for ipad or iphone. Andrew
Ever thought some dodgy written code could of crashed flash player? Adobe can make flash pretty resistant and optimised providing they are given access to the core of the operating system. Apple won't allow that, so adobe cannot optimise the flash engine. Apple seem to think they are on a winner, but they aren't. Pretty soon they'll have to give in and start supporting flash. Decent HTML5 support is provided by a webkit browser, safari and chrome. Firefox, IE aren't webkit browsers and we all know how long it takes Microsoft to bring updates to the browser market. Also web designers will only go with a technolgy that will reach 99% of the masses, so all those that think HTML5 is the way forward, it is. But it won't be mainstream for at least a good few years yet.

poopskin
I'm pretty much indifferent to the iPad. there's reasons i want it, there's reasons i don't want it, i'm simply not sure what to think.

Lots of companies stick with older software for years, sometimes more than a decade. Plenty of manufacturers still use AutoCad 2000, for example. But it could push Apple to make more advanced image editing software, or even allow another company to fill the slot so Adobe would probably just lose out. Their best bet is to stick with making a Mac OS version.
That_Guy28
Can I get custom apps like a nes emulator on the iPad without having to go the the f*cking app store? I'm not going to buy an iPad until they get CFW so I can accually make it useful. I think that so far the PSP (1000 or 2000) is the best portable device besides a laptop that you can buy (but ya gotta f*cking get CFW! ). Once they make CFW or something like that for the iPad i'm going to buy it. I don't see why computer device manufactures don't like hacks. The only reason I bought a PSP is because of the awesome stuff I had heard about PSP CFW. I wasn't disapointed at all when I bought one either. It exceeded my expectations greatly and it was worth every penny. I'm just glad that I modded it though. It sucked having to wait for my pandora battery to ship while I had a worthless piece of crap sittng on my deck. EDIT: Besides, if I had $500 I would just buy a laptop instead.
