kamaitachi
Here is my idea for a total conversion : So you wake up in what was once Cj's house, you walk to the front door, after leaving the house you look out and see a make-shift military base, the ground is covered in sand and the only people to be seen are soldiers, for now, when you are in grove street, you are under there protection, but when you LEAVE, that's when the chaos starts. What I can do : Mapping, Scripting, Texturing (not so good with this, can do basic clothes and camouflage) Intended features - -Almost no SANE people in the city, the insane one's will attack you with various melee weapons. -New weapons -New interiors (not interior textures, real interiors) -Weapon realism -Military patrols -The map itself : heavy sand, lots of junk lying around the place (broken down cars, various scrapyard stuff) -Grove street is now a military base, that means numerous entrance guards and 2 guards patrolling the block. What Positions I need : -Scripters (Must both be good at SCM coding, NOT CLEO!) -Several mappers, I don't really have a limit, I just want people who know what there doing and can create an atmospheric environment (an apocalypse happened, think unclean and unwashed streets, unmaintained buildings, sand from sandstorms etc) -This is a maybe, because I don't understand this all too well, but : SFX coordinater, if we had someone who could add atmospheric music that would be excellent. -Modellers -Testers -Elders (people who have did major/total conversions before, and can offer advice/help to newbies) Rules of the project : -No Cleo. -Do not disrespect other members of the project. -Do not take credit for work of other members of the project. -Do not decide to invade a small third world country without telling us first, we need to know when you are going to be away for extended period's of time. -And Most importantly, HAVE FUN, you can't make a fun mod without putting work into it, that's true, but try to enjoy yourself when you are doing it, otherwise the end result wont be worth it. here is some concept designs of the grove street base, please note that I Have not started to edit anything other than the map yet (no guards etc), and the sand/litter/junk is not placed either : GROVE ST. Entrance : supply cabin (will become possible to enter once I get a mapper/scripter who can help me out with it.) main fencing, main entrance. Light on top of supply cabin, follows same light pattern as Lamp-post Grove ST. Helipad This is a makeshift helipad formed by the military for quick landings (hopefully once I get a scripter he can help me out with a helicopter spawning there) Grove St. Outside entrance : There will be several armed guards outside this, the tank is only there due to 100% completion, it suits it well though, doesn't it? Leaving Grove ST. Last traces of military : as you begin to leave grove St the military blockades and guards will start to fade away, until you are completely on your own . kamaitachi
This sounds like great idea guys! do you think you could help me out with learning to start modding? I have asked around and hardly get any replies Depends on what you want to learn buddy, I think making textures is where I started, then I moved on to mapping, then modelling, and some scripting. -mappers tend to be most common, so its hard to get recognized unless you are really original. -texture makers are even more common, any 9 year old can make a texture, but again, IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH, you will be recognized. -scripting is less common and takes alot of time to learn, scm editiing is however, really handy, and you will be recognized almost instantly if you are good enough -modelling is pretty rare too, I suggest just making simple things like scopes and silencers for guns before you start making completely new guns.
