why limit it to sports. Why not gigs or musicals. Names of bands or production could be similar to real big artists except take the piss. Like gta iv does with some big brands.

One addition id like is the ability to host or go to parties with contacts in ur phone. Rather than the traditional, ' wanna shot a game of pool'. All adds variety

Thats actaully a genuies idea being able to bet on horce/dog races. Something like betting on the fights in TBOGT. Good way to make money.

 

I can see 1v1 basketball workin but i really cant see football working at all it would be just too confusing. if i was you id also add going to the batting cages or having a hockey shot challenge in which you shoot a puck at targets.

Going to sporting events would be interesting, although I highly doubt they'd fully render a whole game. If anything it would go to a black screen and fast forward a couple hours.

If they have horse races they should render them in 3D, instead of the 2D used in San Andreas.

 

They could even use the new horse physics from Red Dead Redemption.

 

If they bring back full on gambling like in San Andres, they need the ability to have Legal and Illegal gambling.

Illegal gambling would be dice, and back room poker games. There would be the chance that the police could barge in and try to arrest you. Also if you go into debt, whoever you play against has a higher chance of coming after you and trying to hurt/kill you depending on the amount of debt. Maybe they'll jack one of your cars when you're not looking.

 

Legal Gambling would include slots, blackjack, roulette, and poker.

If you go into debt there is more leniency compared to illegal gambling.

 

Also if you bet on a Sports game, and then end up losing you have the choice to pay or not to pay. If you don't pay someone might come to hurt you, just like if you go into debt with illegal gambling.

How about you can bet on the racing that's due to start in 1 or 2 hours, then you can leave the OTB or racetrack and listen to the race in your car?

Betting on sports would be fun. I think they should put a cap on how much you can bet though, it's so easy to make millions by saving then betting all your money... I think $10,000 is a reasonable cap.

 

Sports activities with friends would be nice too. I can imagine basketball, since there so many courts in the city. Batting cages would be cool and golf too, because you can just jump in and play and it is simple. Football, hockey and sh*t would be too complex for a mini-game. I mean can you imagine a cold-blooded hitman/murderer gearing up and playing some big skin with his buddies? That's more like something a sports dad does...

 

I wouldn't really like sporting events. They would need multiple stadiums for each sport and it would be a waste of time. However an arena or something for concerts would be bangin. Imagine seeing love fist or some mockup of a real life band live... Lol.

Developing a good sporting AI, one that would be fun to watch, is a lot of work. I don't think it is worth the developers' efforts.

I wouldn't mind a 1 on 1 bastketball game with one of your friends, but a full NBA Live style game would be too much. Same with football.

 

I wouldn't mind closed off car races too. Not like the stadium races in VC, and SA, but outdoor ones at purpose built race tracks throughout the city.

I was pretty sure that Madison square garden would be included in IV, but as it turned out it didn't. Wouldn't have been cool to see a hockey or basketball game for sure!

I think sports betting and basically going to matches and supporting your local basketball team would be a good step up. Also i like he idea of ringing up your in-game AI friends and inviting them to your own party (maybe choosing from a load of selections i.e. birthday, wedding, general party, drugs party etc.) and getting calls of your friends and going to other peoples parties, maybe interacting with pals, starting fights, getting high, meeting women etc.

What a lot of people are missing is the fact that you won't be able to actually "Play" sports, but watch them at a stadium.

I don't mean to be overly negative but I can't think of anything more boring than watching a sports match in GTA that's going to be filled with quirks and glitches no matter how much the AI has been ironed. To me, it would have the same functionality and appeal as watching the cartoons in GTAIV. I'm sure there's some good humour in there but frankly I'm quite alright to miss out on it if it means sitting there with my controller in my hand watching cartoons in a video game. After watching those, I'll want to kill a real hooker.

 

However, adding a degree of interactivity? Now we're talking. Let us place bets perhaps, walk away and listen to results in your car on the radio. Something that actually makes me want to be a part of it, rather than just sitting there going "wow, that pixel man sure can throw a ball about and not look like he's sh*t himself".

This is what I'd be most interested in.

 

 

Also adding the ability to cheat in gambling and bets would add a unique twist. Depending on who you do it to has different results. If you cheat on a legal bet, you'll get a wanted level, if you cheat on illegal gaming, you might have a hit squad coming after you.

MY IDEA! yeah!

Thinking on it more, i think it could be a brilliant extension to the activites with contacts. Going out is fun but limited. We should beable to see shows and things but I wouldn't want to much development to go into it as I think other things are more important. Same goes for the sports and gambling. However I think partying and stayin in should be developed more, allowing you to build a relationship with people. Part of getting work could involve talking to the right people rather than linear gameplay of being told who u report to. It also allows you to work for different kinds of people, for instance; a gang from the hood to a italian american crime family. The experience becomes more interactive that way. Also, relationships could go sour. If you hit the bosses son then you can expect gang warfare, for which you call upon your friends to help you. I'd rather this than an official 'story' because stories are linear and I think it would make the game more challenging and real. Its hard to convey emotion in a games story, much harder than in a book or film anyway. So for the gamer to feel apart of the experience, we need to physically involve them and ask more of them.

I'm not sure how going to a sports event would work. I wouldn't wanna sit and watch a whole game, so maybe it could be just a few scenes of you and your mates just sat in the stands enjoying the game and a few animated cut scenes of the sport action. I can't see it as being anything other than another kind of social event, like eating out or going to the comedy club, where you go to the location with your companion, watch a cut scene, then have to take the person home.

 

On the other hand, I like the idea of being able to kick a football around in the park with a few mates.

 

Here's a thought: if they can have a comedy club where they digitise real-life comedians doing a 5 minute gig, why not have a music club where you can see real life bands digitised doing a short gig on stage? I'm sure lots of bands would love to promote new material through an appearance in the next GTA.

 

Oh, and I love the idea of being able to hang out at parties. Brilliant!

Perphabes the natural progression could be 1: Going to parties to find work 2: Make your money and beable to afford hosting your own parties 3: Recruit people at parties to work for you 4: Run all competition (ie other crime organisations) out of town 5: Maintain it (ie make sure theydon't come back to get you Scarface style)

 

On the note of starting your own 'family' as it were, the game could have a more strategic style of gameplay; you could hire lawyers to keep the heat down and bust you and ur crew out of jail*, send people to protect a business being attacked (Godfather2 style), make sure theres not a rat in ur family, send a rat to another family and so on...

 

* On the note of busting out of jail, wouldn't it be better when getting busted that you actually get sent to jail for a set nu,mber of game days. Or you could escape too lol.

 

Having a mission where you go into jail i think is neccessary anyway. It could be to kill an inmate or whatever. Also, for those who say 'if you were that powerful you would get someone else to do it', why not play as someone else for that mission. You could switch between characters much in the same way as you can in the sims.

i think that if you do something really serious such as massacre allot of people then you should go to jail for a few game time days, mabey after a day or so it will cut to *5 months later* or something like that. But there has to be things to do in jail. Mabey mini missions just for the jail like smuggling drugs into the cells, jail fight club, mabey there could be a turf war system within the jail. I think you should also be able to meet new friends in prison. Mabey a cell matye can help you after you get out of jail.

 

However, i doubt this will happed as people less patiant and less keen on really role playing as you and I wil hate this. Lots of people may hate this. However if theres the option of *skipping* the jail time like seen in the taxi trips etc then i think it will be ok with most of the fans.
