LateForTheSky
would it not be cool to have schools and stuff like that? you could put in a bullworth academy and have lots parents droping off their kids in their huge SUV's, boring math teachers (with bo-ties) drawing up to school in a volvo. School bells etc going off at different times of the day. What about a stadium rock show with a band who have a somewhat queen aura to them lol? I just think anything to vary the city would help in spades.
GrandmaTakeMeHome
that's what i always wished for, but they probably wouldn't put the school in there because too much controversy (i think i spelled that wrong ) would go on about killing kids and stuff like that. Hmmm nice bike
A stadium would be cool. I was hoping to see one in GTA IV. Maybe they could let us do activities inside, to give it some use. Schools, not so much, unless it's a college (parents groups, lawyers, and christians would be up in arms about children being peds in GTA, and it would probably bring in bad publicity). @GrandmaTakeMeHome (offtopic): You may want to resize your signature or find a smaller one, before it get's disabled, as it's a little too big. The_Mario_Man
I doubt children will ever be involved in GTA games, and honestly, I don't want to see it happen. It would attract far too much negative attention, and would most likely end up getting another AO rating. Even Running With Scissors refuses to put children in the Postal games. Something like a college might work. An actual stadium that let you walk around the stands, field, and concession areas would be nice as well. LateForTheSky
The only reason it would attract so much attention is because its GTA. 'Grand Theft Auto' is a brand that is targeted but in actual fact is no worse than any other game or media. Have the lawyers and parents watched tv recently? The reason they dont complain about that it because they watch it! As far as I'm concerned GTA (in my county at least) is rated 18 for a reason. Children 'scared' from it only have themselves to blame. GTA could bring back hot coffee, planes in a city of sky scrapers and go on children killing sprees and still be on a par with most TV shows. GTA is only targeted because it was the first of its kind. Please, please. please don't say you don't want these things because others will get up in arms about it. If they said that back in the 50's, rock and roll would never have existed. You have to fight to break down boundries otherwise we'll stay trapped, going round and round in circles. The_Mario_Man
I have yet to see a TV show where a guy can throw a handful of grenades into a full elementary school classroom for no reason, and then shoot every survivor in the face with a shotgun, all onscreen. I agree that videogames take undue flak from parents and lawyers, but I somehow doubt pulling a stunt like this would be the right way to deal with it. And ok while tv doesnt show u blowing elementary schools up, it does often show child abuse. Example in a british tv show called 'shameless', a eleven year old boy was hit by his drunken father for being annoying. The violence was pritty hard hitting and could curl anyones toes. The show is not a serious show and was not trying to make any big statement, it was indeed uneccessary. As for the sex stuff, you only really need to stay up past ten before u will see some pritty full on stuff. Even in an episode of the simpsons, maggie was seen to be playing a video game which involved the shooting of babies. As i say, its just becuase its gta. Even a 'gta clone' could get away with more just because it isnt the official brand of child corruption according to women who say 'speaking as a mother'. SpEJay
It's a stupid world of double standards, i've seen so many movies & games combined which would be the most evil sh*t imaginable combined, and rightly as pointed out, there's a ton of examples of very wrong things on tv... I mean shameless lol, that has some messed up sh*t in it but i think the main thing against games is the freedom to do it yourself, which is stupid considering what's already out there in plenty of games, R* get a lot of grief due to manhunt and gta being known for it's content, yet there's no problem booting up a game from years ago like soldier of fortune and disecting a skull for some brains etc... No doubt we'd have a huge problem if hand-to-hand fun in gta went to a more realistic level, but noooo we have to listen to idiots who can be argued with facts and proven wrong, yet still get a stupid point of view, the game rating alone ensists it's purely for adults, yet adults in control of what we see and don't see are apparently children at heart, when it comes to R* at least. I really don't think theres a problem with including more animals and such, other than the amount of work to make them move and react realistically, but children... Blowing a mothers head off then stabbing her baby in a pram for a laugh is a step to far when it comes to ratings, however if we want to enjoy a bit of going ''postal'' pissing on corpses after burning them and hitting there head off with a shovel is fine We can enjoy movies like saw for inventive ways with violence and murder, but if R* try that it's a no no! That hot coffee thing is the biggest joke going, compared to what you can do and see in some games i've seen, the ratings boards are a joke, hot coffee was a problem because it wasn't announced as being in the game, it was left in there and thus the problem, however if something like that was included today, it might not be such a problem, if it was noted to be included like doing hookers... If the next gta was to get really gritty and have topless girls and go further than the lapdance stuff, removing the X on the boobs and such, how could it be argued? Actually seeing penetration goes into porn realm and wouldn't be do-able however, it's all stupid how it works, but i don't care for an arguement for censorship, the adult rating means one thing... Censorship is for those of younger ages and that's fine with me, but censoring sh*t for adults who make there own decisions? NO! There's no excuse for it, kids allowed to see / play things, that's down to parents to control not restricting the world of fun because little timmy might get a shock, if little timmy then see's saw and decides to chop his mates up, then should we be a nanny world and stop all material someone takes offense too? Remove the existance of our fave foods, games, movies and words and stop at nothing to restrict everyone? Hmmm, censorship of adult things = done by idiots. woody242
Why dont they do what they did on Fallout 3, make the children invincible. Not like they can take your bullets and fight back, just they run away and the bullets just go through them. But rither way I dont really want a school in it as I see no reason. Even I wouldnt go and shoot the little kids (well, maybe). And the stadium idea I like, it could be like the ones in VC ans SA. Demolition derbys and Stunt shows. mubd
How about if your gun's reticle is positioned in a way that it will hit children if you shoot, the gun will not be fired at the children, because the protagonist doesn't want to hurt the children. Algonquin Assassin
Honestly if R* ever added children it would be pointless for them to be un-killable when every other pedestrian can be killed. I would never harm an innocent child in real life (Well no one for that matter unless it was a life, or death situation), but in a video game it wouldn't phase me. Sure it would get the mums, Jack Thompsons etc of the world up in arms, but GTA has being doing that ever since 1997. People act as if it's something new. As someone else said it's only because it's GTA. I would lay a $100 bet that if Saints Row 3 came out with killable children there wouldn't be any where near as much as an uproar as it would be if it was GTA. I'm not saying other games in the genre get away with everything, but it's obvious GTA gets picked on, because it was the first sandbox game to raise the controversay bar on a well known scale. I've an idea for Rockstar-buy the rights for Saints Row and put in a few features that would be controversial in a GTA, but not controversial in Saints Row. Then, in the next GTA, add in these new features with some refinements and Jack Thompson and mother groups won't bat an eyelid.
vincentmillidge
Rockstar aint going to go anywhere near schools/ colleges after columbine and the victoria(is that right) school shootings. that would be commercial suicide . however racing/sports/music stadiums would be amazing. a proper super club would be great. a grungey rave pit would be cool. a mall or shopping centre would be great. a hostpital. a hotel, a casino, a holiday resort with water park would be cool but schools would be a really stupid move on Rockstars part
