DEADP00L
I decided to install GTA III again on my laptop along with the Xbox mod for better graphics etc. When I went to select player model, I noticed it still had old skins I made available but on a player model that looked weird. It looked like how Tommy Vercetti's player model with the arms stretched open, but twisting around on its back. This seems to give an error too when I try to load/start a new game and makes the game crash. I've tried reinstalling a lot. Removing GTA III trough configuration, trough Uninstall GTAIII option... nothing works. That same f*cking messed up player model seems to remain there, leaving me unable to play the game. Help me, please.
radioman
Please post the required information when posting a Troubleshooting Topic here: Before you post a topic, please read the pinned bug lists/fixes. It is likely that you're not the first person to encounter a problem, and we may have found a solution already. In addition to these pinned topics, please utilize the forum search engine. adamcs has produced an extremely helpful guide which explains the finer points of successful searching, accessible here. If all of the above is no help, you'll need to post a new topic. Please provide useful topic titles. "Help" or "problem" give us no insight into the problem - every topic in the Troubleshooting forum will no doubt entail a problem seeking help! To get the most amount of help for your problem, we need as many details as we can get about your system's specs. Therefore it is highly suggested (read: demanded) that you provide: • What platform: PC, PS2, or X-Box • What version number of GTA: SA • What CPU and its speed • How much RAM, also what kind (DDR, SDRAM) and speed • What video card and driver version • Which version of Windows (and any service packs) • Which DirectX version and driver version • What sound card and driver version • History: Is this your first install? Did it work once before? Anything that is relevant. • Screenshots, if applicable. This is especially necessary with display issues which can be explained far easier by use of visual aids. • Above all else, a detailed description of your problem. Give as much information as possible! Keep it relevant, though. We don't need a fifty-page printout from some diagnosis program. Usually the above prompts will suffice. If you don't know the more detailed specs of your system, and the system control panel is of little help for most of these, download and use Everest Free Edition 2.20 or Fresh Diagnose. Be sure to extract only the relevant information from these programs - again, lengthy printouts are meaningless and tedious to rifle through. This will help solve the problem better, but as you said you have mod(s) installed, that is more than likely the cause of the problem, so do an un-install/re-install and delete the .set file in the User Files Folder in My Documents(XP)/Documents(Vista and 7), and see if that fixes the problem-if not post the required info. above. DEADP00L
Sorry for the necropost, but this is still a bad issue. Giving the specs of my laptop will not help anything, because the game worked fine on it before until I've installed a mod or player model. The player model's shape looks like that of Tommy Vercetti and these problems also (maybe coincidental) occured after installing the mod that changes everything to xbox graphics. I have tried deleting the game, uninstalling the game, re-install the game, change every single player model with an original Claude model etc etc numerous times. And I always end up getting this when selecting my player skin: The game starts fine, until you and 8Ball go change clothes at the safehouse. Then the game gets stuck and doesn't respond to anything. All I get is the constant sound of the garage opening. Deleting all the files and mods didn't do anything at all and yet after re-installing I keep getting this problem. It's very frustrating. I'd really appreciate good help. Edited August 17, 2010 by Jack Mercer
radioman
Do an un-install and remember to delete rest of the install directory afterwards, as the game does not usually delete mods on it's own during the un-installation process, then delete the .set file in the User Files Folder in Documents(Vista and 7)/My Documents(XP), then do a complete re-install and DO NOT use any mods this time-play the normal game and everything should be fine. Also, is this the Retail(CD) version or a Downloaded version? If Downloaded, from where? Are you using the ORIGINAL CD or a no-cd crack? These are important questions that must be answered in Troubleshooting topics....Just a heads up.
DEADP00L
It's a retail version. Installation CD, the CD to play the game.
Girish
You still haven't told us if you deleted the gta3.set file from the User Files folder. That is the one file that could cause this.
DEADP00L
I've done everything that has been mentioned. And I still have the same problem.
twannie1997
i give suggestion, if mod brings major bugs, then remove it and never install, unless it gets updates
DEADP00L
i give suggestion, if mod brings major bugs, then remove it and never install, unless it gets updates If you've read it all carefully, you'd realize I've removed the whole game and mods and that it still didn't work. I even tried it with and without R*'s patch to fix some bugs. Edited August 18, 2010 by Jack Mercer
