I know that most people in the world drive on the right, but the UK and other countries, like Australia, India and Japan, drive on the left.

I live in Australia, and I think it will take me a bit of time to convert to left hand driving in GTA, if the next GTA city is London.

I bet for Americans and mainland Europeans, it would be quite a bit worse.

How hard do you think it would be to change over to the other side of the road to drive in GTA?

I live in New Zealand and we drive on the left, It's pretty easy to change sides of the road, it wouldn't take me even 1 minute to get used to it.

I'm pretty sure most people playing GTA don't really care which side of the road they end up on. The only time I've ever really bothered was when I was trying to keep a car intact.

My only problem would be turns. I know this first hand because of GTA:London. I'm used to Right turn to the near lane, Left to the far. But it becomes backwards from that in Right side driving.

I'd say anywhere from 12-72 hours of game time. I'm moderately obsessive compulsive so right is a real attachment that's gonna be hard to adapt from. Considering, of course, that the game DOES take place in Europe (and I personally hope it does)

Maybe they could just omit that from the game. Or if they insist on it being authentic, they could just have an option for classic traffic lanes.

Yup I'm the same. Although I rarely use the lanes when playing the game.

I'm British and it really didn't take long for me to get used to driving on the right in GTA IV. Its not really an issue like it is in real life because in GTA most people don't abide by traffic laws anyway.

for GTA IV took me like less than a minute to get used to driving on the right. And im from Oz. Not hard. Then again. We are expecting Yanks to play the next gta and they (being a tad more slow than the other nations of the world) may not grasp the idea as quickly as others...biggrin.gif

Fortunately for Americans, they can still refer to their speed in miles per hour. The UK are just as slow in that department as the USA.

Being British, I'm used to driving on the left, but I don't see why anyone else should have any problem with it, its not hard to drive on the opposite side of the road! Some of us have had to put up with driving on the right in GTA and we have no problem what so ever.

I wouldn't imagine it that big of an issue. Driving on the right in gta is easy. In fact I drive in gta a lot more than I do in real life. Occasionally I get confused when I'm really driving. On a similar note, one time i was walking down a street (in RL), and walked under a sign which caught my attention. I wanted to read what it said but I'd already passed it and for a second I thought if i pushed the analogue stick in, i would be able to read it without turning round.

Anyway, I'd like to see the americanos handle the roundabouts.

Sides of the road? If it's clear, I'm barrelling down there!

First of all, I can't really see the next GTA being set in London, or the UK. It's not the same type of criminal lifestyle as here in the Americas. With that being said, if the next GTA was set in London or the UK, I think I'd have a very hard time adjusting to the new change.

0 minutes, I always drive on the left side in GTA and since I can enter from the American driver side anyways.

I don't think a lot of people drive on the right side of the road while playing GTA now so why should they bother to do so just because you're supposed to drive on the other side.

Wouldn't take me any time at all. Aside from being British and being used to American driving from video games and Europe, the fact I tend to say "f*ck the traffic laws" when playing GTA means I wouldn't care at all.

It'd take about the same time it did for getting used to the different feel of IV after San Andreas. Not very long. Besides, most people drive on both sides (sometimes even at the same time); the only time anyone would care about it would be following a car or driving realistically (which I sometimes do, can be fun). Although, I've never played a game which was set in a country with driving rules like that, so I wouldn't really know, but I can't imagine it being difficult and time consuming.

Australia on the left too.

Probably the only other country or region I might ever live in enough to drive enough is the UK, so yea irl I'm a total left-side driver.

We don't complain about driving on the right side in GTAs do we..

Oh, come on Goose, it's common knowledge. Like how everyone knows that all terrorists are muslims. Take IRA for example, they've been fighting for the spread of Islam in Ireland since the early 1900s.

LOL.

You obviously havn't been to Liverpool (in fact anywhere in merseyside), Manchester or London, ive been to LA, New York, you name it, for long periods and ganglife has never been as rampant as it is in the UK.

Strictly and realistically speaking, the UK and USA (discounting the size difference) are about on a par as regards to crime levels so i wouldnt say that is an issue. Even if the UK wasnt as, lets say crimanally rampant, GTA isnt completely realistic, they would obvously make it more 'criminally rampant' than in real life, as they usually do in USA set GTAs.

Thanks,

Danny
