Vidike
I searched for this topic and I could not find it, if it already exists post a link here and lock this one. So what is your favorite GTA game? I've wanted to play GTA 4 since it came out and I finally managed to do so last month. It was a very great experience, I enjoyed it a lot, but for whatever reason I do not want to play it again. For me, it doesn't have the re-playability factor like San Andreas did. I finished San Andreas for about 4 or 5 times, last time being a couple of months ago, and yet I would still like to play it. On the other hand, the story was much better in GTA4 and Niko is my favorite character of the series. If I would have to chose my favorite out of these two, it would be GTA
Nason
most of gta4's replayability lies in the online modes. I still play it every night, mostly racing with a little freemode thrown in... No matter what games I play, I always come back to good ol gta4. I loved san andreas back in the day, but it just isn't the same as gta4. My advice is to give it some more time to get used to IV, I was the same way when I started playing it, thought I wasn't gonna like it. The only thing I really like better about SA is the big open countrysides and much larger map in general.... it's all city driving in IV

EduardKoeleJuck
Mine is Vice City or IV. Like Nason said, I started liking it after a while. At first I didn't really like it, but I played it again, and I was sold.
krashdown
I'm pretty torn with this, I used to love playing the GTA 3 games... San Andreas because it was awesome and GTA3 because it was a huge leap forward and i played it the most. IV is the newest and has heaps of improvements but they have also left things out that were in the older games and i thought were great So i guess San Andreas is my favorite even though i don't play it anymore

ntb_15
For me it has to be good ol vice city, i just loved taking control of that mansion, and lance was a pretty good character. Gta 4 is good, and has lots of new features, but something feels missing in the game SA was good as well, but i liked vice city's mafia type story more than SA's Street Gang war type story Edited March 31, 2010 by ntb_15

King Of Monra
I'd have to say vice city. I have enjoyed all of the gta games, but there is just something special about vice city.
Wolfmight
It's a tough decision: I loved the Vice City atmosphere I loved the heavily featured San Andreas gameplay I loved the GTAIV graphics and new additional gameplay. (physics engine was improved a lot in patch updates since it's release i noticed) too bad all 3 of those weren't combined into a single bad ass game haha San Andreas and GTAIV stood pretty close with gameplay improvements over Vice City - however GTAIV got rid of a lot of the traditional GTA gameplay and took on a different direction with a less features of course because a lot of development priority was being focused on the new engine and graphics which was a worthy sacrifice in my opinion. The physics engine still needs some faster speed tweaks in my opinion. With San Andreas, it offered by far the largest selection of gameplay along with some graphical improvements and major customization options as well. Gameplay is slightly more important than graphics and atmosphere in my opinion, so I'm going with San Andreas winning by a slightly higher stance for having more vehicles, games, people, places, customization, the works. Basically CJ could go around in his underwear, boots and a red clown afro to speak of the level of customization there. The RAGE, Euphoria engine is pretty amazing though so far with more good than bad in my opinion and I can't wait to see what titles are released next. I'm almost positive Rockstar will improve the engine for gamers, up the gameplay, increase the playing field and bring back some more traditional classic mini-games like RAMPAGE. Vidike
I just don't understand why Vice City is so loved . It was better than GTA 3, but it was weaker than SA and IV in my opinion. I don't know I just didn't like Tommy

I don't know I just didn't like Tommy Well different tastes I suppose. I reckon VC is so popular, because it explores an era alot of GTA gamers weren't around to see, or too young to remember. Not only because of the 80s atmosphere, but I've always considered VC to have the best balance of features. There's not too many people wouldn't use, and enough to keep you occupied for hours. Plus Tommy is extremely well liked. It's really not that hard to see why VC is so loved.
Rocks-tar
The city of Vice is just boring. Liberty City (GTA III era or GTA IV era), Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas or Fort Carson are so better.

Rucke
Definately GTA Vice City, Tommy Vercetti was such a bad ass What i don't understand is why Tommy Vercetti is so many people's favorite protagonist. He wasn't nearly as well-developed as Niko or CJ for instance. We didn't learn anything about his past or what kind of person he is, except that he kills people who screw him over. A bit like the character he's mainly based on Tony Montana aka Scarface? We did learn things from his past. He talks about when his father used to work in a printing shop, and we all know he was sent to prison in 1971, and spent 15 years for killing 11 gangsters earning him the "Harwood Butcher" nickname. Not sure what else in his past needed to be adressed that would'v made sense with his character? I don't think Tommy is any less developed as Niko, or CJ. Niko, and CJ were just more emotional with their personalties whereas Tommy was more hard edged. I guess people like Tommy, because of his "I don't give a sh*t who gets in my way" type of attitude. GtaHitmanStrikesBack
Vice city without no shade of a doubt, they really don't make games like it anymore. The game doesn't half bring back memories, some of my favorite things to do in vice city is..... 1. Putting on the Tommy groupies cheat and punch a few of the woman to start a massive fight. 2 Stunting is always fun, and i still do it to this day. 3 A nice 6 star chase is always fun. The sights and the feel of vice city definitely make the game what is is.
