SiKbOy666
Hi everyone. I had this exact problem before, when i try to start GTA 4 i either get a screen with a black box or the message GTA 4 has encountered a problem and has to close. When i got this message before i disabled my power saving software and the game worked fine, but i installed the PSS and now i get the blank screen or same message. I have all the up to date drivers on my system. I have an AMD quad core 630 2.8 GHZ, 2 G RAM, 250 GB hard drive, ATI Radeon 5670 1 g. Please help! mkey82
Uninstall this PSS?
SiKbOy666
Install this PSS? I did reinstall it as i thought that might have been the problem as that was the only change i made, so i reinstalled it and still had the problem, so i uninstalled it again, then the game worked, then it downloaded a windows live update and now it will not load again and i get the GTA4 has encountered a prob and needs to close message. I Have win XP and the game is a retail version. Edited March 31, 2010 by SiKbOy666

mkey82
You probably have a number of issues with you PC not related to PSS. Do you have a larger number of processes running in the background.
SiKbOy666
You probably have a number of issues with you PC not related to PSS. Do you have a larger number of processes running in the background. The same amount i had running when the game worked fine, though i ended quite a few more and the game still would not run. I think its related to the PSS programme because when i had the Intelligent Energy Saver programme active, the game would not run and i got the exact same message, as soon as i turned it off, the game run fine. I'm not pleased with rockstar support, as i e mailed them yesterday and they have not got back to me, they are usually very fast at responding. GTA III FAN !!
If you need gta 4 back real bad you can just make a partition with just enough for xp and gta then install xp then gta iv. The clean install will mean no background processes an stuff. Only install necesary drivers and make a note incase any cause problems. Its not ideal but it should work.
