FixGTAIV
Im runnin' XP SP3 Home Edition Nvidia 9500 GT (512 MB Video RAM) 1 GB DDR2 RAM Intel Core 2 Duo 6700 @ 2.66/2.67 GHZ Basically, I got GTA IV as a gift. I left it on the shelf a while (having a lot of fun with GTA SA MTA). After much boredom and game-searching, I found it. Installed fine. So, Im exited when I double click on the "GTA IV" icon on the desktop. And I BSOD (blue screen of death) What could it be?
Squishybubs
This game eats up about 800MB - 1.8 GB of RAM alone. Running XP with only 1 GB is going to leave you with roughly 800 MB. You might want to invest in some more RAM, which, these days is very cheap. How much RAM does your motherboard support and are you running XP 64-bit or 32? Faulty RAM has been known to cause a BSoD, though it's not normal for RAM to just "go bad". It could be caused by temps due to load. Do you have any software to check temperatures? If you don't you could download the EVEREST free trial: http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?lang=en&page=11 Temperatures are listed under "sensor". FixGTAIV
Motherboard is 93 F CPU (total) is 104 Core 1 is 109 Core 2 is 109 GPU Diode is 120 I plan on clearing the dust tomorrow. Literally, out of the inside. Perhaps that will help get them down but I wonder, is it bad? 100+ temps?
Squishybubs
Nah that's around normal. Anything below 55C is fine so you're all good. I'm still not quite sure about the BSoD. I'm not an expert, just thought I'd try and help as much as I can so you might want to wait until someone else takes over. I still think it has something to do with your RAM though. 1 GB just isn't enough. Good luck I guess.
