Squishybubs
Your graphics card completely bottlenecks your system. As far as I know (not a huge tech person) your graphics card is integrated, and those integrated ones are definitely nowhere near built for gaming. You might want to look in to a new graphics card. If that's not possible, you could always try a driver update: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm, but I don't think that's gonna make much of a difference. Good luck. TheMarijn
So what do you prefer as new video card for my PC?
mkey82
You practically can't fit a new GPU on a lapotop. That machine wasn't made for gaming.
GTA III FAN !!
Mkey again... like i said its people like you that keep forums going by replying on every post but telling everyone their pc isn't made for gaming isn't the answer. Its like me saying your house is no good for parties but with a bit of engiueity you can make it work. I'm always optimistic (a bit weird but you get used to it). Try making a text file in notepad named 'commandline' (without the ' things) and drag it into the gta iv progfiles folder (to avoid endless y/n msg boxes if your on vista/7) @ c:\programfiles\rockstar games\gta iv or soethin but before you do paste in -availablevidmem 10.0 -percentvidmem 100 -renderquality 4 with a space before the first - it may cause your game to crash as i don't know if you have any video memory or not. just try it and delete it if it don't work or crash your game. (the comandline that is)
mkey82
but telling everyone their pc isn't made for gaming isn't the answer. Not everyone, just those who have unfit computers. I wish people would finally come to understand that GTAIV is a VERY demanding game. GTAIV requires * a lot of VRAM. A lot, so many artifacts usually come to light when you have 256MB or even 128MB of VRAM. The game will also lag a lot since the system will always have to swap between RAM and VRAM. As you might have guessed it, GPU has a lot faster access to it's VRAM then it has to system RAM hence all swapping procedures cause lag. A lot of lag. Also, with the "memory leak" issue you are likely to recieve a lot of graphical errors an crashes as the corrupt memory takes over your game/system. * a proper GPU. Office machine graphics (like GMA, Intel modbile, x400 and lower Nvidia series cards and ATI equivalen) just won't cut it. OK, you might get 10FPS with low settings, cut down resolution and with a plethora of tweaks applied, but I wouldn't call that gaming. It's more like hacking the game to bits and pieces just to make it run. And when it comes to this, everybody has a fix of their own. * a lot of processing power. Since GTAIV is a direct quick and dirty xbox port, it makes best use of CPU's with three cores. Of course dual core on above 3.5GHz will do nicely, but a mid range quad at 2.5 - 3GHz is recommended to meet *basic* specification. It's a cheaper solution as well. * RAM, load of RAM. At least 3GB will be usually be necessary, as game uses a lot of it and there is the dreaded "memory leak" problem that makes the game crash quite often on machines that have less equipped. * an OS in normal working condition, updated and with drivers up to date. Generally, a spyware infested, three years old OS install with 80 background applications will probably not be the perfect base to run GTAIV.
