heat84
Maybe you have a dual CPU that's secretly a quad core: http://www.filhacks.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14500&start=0 It only works for the newer 45nm 2.2GHZ stock clock speed version(not the 65nm 2.6GHZ stock clock) version. And only certain batches of them I think. I have the older version of this CPU so it won't work for me. But that's OK. I just bought a Phenom II 965 anyway. viometrix
interesting, but do you realize you could cause some noob to kill their cpu.
xxCrowTechxx
They're just harvested/repairable parts (why it's only certain batches). As such, those features are disabled on the chip for one of two reasons: a) they weren't guaranteed to work or b) they don't work (in this case I will say it's likely "a"). So, they sell them with "stuff turned off" instead of tossing them or recycling. It's great that they can have their semi-functional parts put to use but it is certainly no replacement for the real deal. (disclaimer: the above is a very loose description of what is going on, edited to clarify a bit) Edited March 30, 2010 by xxCrowTechxx
