Alick
I don't see anything wrong with people using handhelds. I own a PSP and a DS, admittedly I barely use them unless I go on a long journey, but I see them as more for casual use, rather than sitting on one for hours on end as many people do with consoles, so I can't imagine why you'd think they were for 'nerds'. Rhoda
I finally picked up my copy of Pokemon SoulSilver today and I'm not ashamed to say it. After 12 years of handheld gaming, it's still going strong. I can pick up and play anywhere I take it, and the online community for such games just keeps growing meaning I have more interaction than ever with other players. I find many handheld games (at least the ones I play) take themselves less seriously. My brother has a PSP that he barely uses now, but when he did I used to take turns playing Liberty City Stories and Loco Roco on it. I loved Loco Roco, simply for it's sheer simplicity and addictive scale. I find it much more enticing than a console. Mind, I do consider myself somewhat of a nerd, so I've not really disproved the topic, haha.
nerner
I have owned a gameboy and a PSP and I wold not consider myself a nerd. Even though I joined this forum I continue to have an active social life. I would say that for the casual gamer like I would consider myself, the console type does not matter, if it is not in excess, then who are we to start classifying people based on what type of game they play the most? chris
I mostly consider people over the age of 20 who play more than 5 hours of video games a week or teenagers who play 20+ hours a week nerds. 1/10, you might arouse somebodies anger with that pathetic attempt but my troll-o-meter is rather good at the moment. Darrel
Aren't Hand-held Portable game consoles considered less nerdy? People who use them generally are out and about, not sitting in front of their TV for 15 hours a day playing Call of duty Modern warfare 2. Although there is nothing wrong with that, if that's what you like to do. People can do whatever they want. Portable's are great mainly the PSPs. Can be used when you have a boring day at the office, or perhaps when you have a free period in school, the list is endless. I remember my pal often brought his PSP into school and not surprisingly everyone wanted to play. Edited March 30, 2010 by Darrel
rubba_dukie
All gamers are nerds. "but rubba_dukie, aren't you a gamer? What about gta?" I play GTA in real life, no consoles. The graphics are intense.
Breaking Bohan
I always assumed those things were just for kids .... I purchased one made by SEGA when I was like 12 but it quickly lost its appeal. Unless they are incredibly different now, I'm just going to assume they are still a huge waste of money.

I've been in more fist fights than you've been in video game gun fights. And also lol @ all the people who label anything that isn't to their liking as "trolling". leik oh em jeez!
Do portable consoles have the same visuals as full consoles and HDTVs? No. Is it more fun than staring out the window of a car or bus, or staring at a wall in a waiting room? Yes. The reason my brother likes handhelds is when he gets grounded, he says he can't find them, and then just pulls one out when the parents aren't looking. Plus he used to bring the PSP in the bathroom with him and watch porn.

No, handhelders are not nerds, not as far as I know anyway unless theres been updates in our worldwide internet definition of a nerd. Although playing a PSP at uni might be a little childish, come on those are for kids really. However the iPhone is differnt since its a phone so if a pretty girl sees you playing games you can just say I was texting someone.

Why am I even asking? Of course you don't. lol And you have the nerve to say I look stupider with each post. First let's start off about him talking to me in his post. First is the fact that a quoted my post. Second he referenced playing "over twenty hours a week" and beeing a teen which I specifically talked about in my post. Third he said "probably kick your ass", which would lead me to believe he is talking to me considering he quoted my post. Now let's talk about: All this argument comes down to is that you made a sweeping generalisation and are WRONG. Somebody pointed out that you are WRONG First off, a sweeping generalization? I said "I mostly consider people over the age of 20 who play more than 5 hours of video games a week or teenagers who play 20+ hours a week nerds." Do you understand the concept of an opinion? It was also obviously pretty accurate considering you butthurt gamers got all offended when I made fun of your gaming habits. Second, where was I proved wrong? Nevermind that it was opinion and can not be proven wrong, but at what point in this "arguement" (which is really you bitching and moaning that you fall under the category of a nerd) was I proven wrong? When he said the term should only be used for people who play Dungeons and Dragons? (Which by the way he called "D&D", which I had to look up because most of us non-nerds, or what you consider tough guys, aren't familiar with all your gaming acronyms) Or maybe it was when he tried to make me look like the tough guy when I made fun of him for saying "I play over twenty hours a week, I'm nineteen and I would probably kick your ass if you called me a nerd" by making a joke about being in more fist fights than he's been in video game gun fights? All this "argument" comes down to is you butthurt gamers who don't like to think of yourselves as nerds bitching about my definition/guidelines of a nerd. The-King
Mass of incoherent idiocy. I love how all of this idiotic rhetoric is coming from a modder. How can someone who's taken a huge portion of his or her personal time to learn coding and the like even have the audacity to refer to someone as a nerd, period. That's like Dick Cheyney accusing Haliburton of corruption. Only reason I've continued this for so long is because it's fun watching idiots try to dig themselves out of a hole, only to end up falling further. But I think it's only fair to end this before you have to be committed to a group home. Please, don't post again, but please do go on being a walking contradiction, I won't try to stop you because it's really f*cking amusing. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|
Clem Fandango
I'd also like to point out that I don't play video games anymore apart from GTA on occasion, I just took excpetion to the mind numbing idiocy displayed in all of BGModder's posts. lol And you have the nerve to say I look stupider with each post. Yeah, you really do. Quoting you =/= refering to you with hyperbole that applies collectively. And I love the contradictions "lol, internet warrier sais he can kick my ass, im tuffer than him" and calling someone whose xbox is currently gathering dust a "butthurt gamer" when you are a f*cking modder. This is quite an accomplishment, not many people have acheived this. You, sir, are now the yard stick by which all future acts of idiocy, hypocrisy and cocky douchebaggery on this forum will be measured against. Second, where was I proved wrong? Well to answer this we'd have to compare our definitions of the word, and I doubt you have the academic competence to make an active comparison between two concepts.
