I don't see anything wrong with people using handhelds. I own a PSP and a DS, admittedly I barely use them unless I go on a long journey, but I see them as more for casual use, rather than sitting on one for hours on end as many people do with consoles, so I can't imagine why you'd think they were for 'nerds'.

I finally picked up my copy of Pokemon SoulSilver today and I'm not ashamed to say it. After 12 years of handheld gaming, it's still going strong. I can pick up and play anywhere I take it, and the online community for such games just keeps growing meaning I have more interaction than ever with other players. I find many handheld games (at least the ones I play) take themselves less seriously. My brother has a PSP that he barely uses now, but when he did I used to take turns playing Liberty City Stories and Loco Roco on it. I loved Loco Roco, simply for it's sheer simplicity and addictive scale. I find it much more enticing than a console.

 

Mind, I do consider myself somewhat of a nerd, so I've not really disproved the topic, haha.

I would say that for the casual gamer like I would consider myself, the console type does not matter, if it is not in excess, then who are we to start classifying people based on what type of game they play the most?

Aren't Hand-held Portable game consoles considered less nerdy? People who use them generally are out and about, not sitting in front of their TV for 15 hours a day playing Call of duty Modern warfare 2.

 

Although there is nothing wrong with that, if that's what you like to do. People can do whatever they want. Portable's are great mainly the PSPs. Can be used when you have a boring day at the office, or perhaps when you have a free period in school, the list is endless. I remember my pal often brought his PSP into school and not surprisingly everyone wanted to play.

No, handhelders are not nerds, not as far as I know anyway unless theres been updates in our worldwide internet definition of a nerd.

 

Although playing a PSP at uni might be a little childish, come on those are for kids really. However the iPhone is differnt since its a phone so if a pretty girl sees you playing games you can just say I was texting someone.

i have a PS2 PS3, wii and i had an xbox and 360, plus a PSP and a DS. i play everychance i get if im on the bus to school with nothing to do pull out the psp and play some GOW....and a videogame is a videogame no matter how it is played or on what its played, so if you are calling handheld games consoles a waste of time your saying gaming is just a waste of time (which it is )

IMO i think the PSP is the best handheld console because its got the best graphics out of the handheld bunch and has some great games on there its like a console in your pocket haha
