radioman
First, Please post the required information from the Pinned Topic here: Before you post a topic, please read the pinned bug lists/fixes. It is likely that you're not the first person to encounter a problem, and we may have found a solution already. In addition to these pinned topics, please utilize the forum search engine. adamcs has produced an extremely helpful guide which explains the finer points of successful searching, accessible here. If all of the above is no help, you'll need to post a new topic. Please provide useful topic titles. "Help" or "problem" give us no insight into the problem - every topic in the Troubleshooting forum will no doubt entail a problem seeking help! To get the most amount of help for your problem, we need as many details as we can get about your system's specs. Therefore it is highly suggested (read: demanded) that you provide: • What platform: PC, PS2, or X-Box • What version number of GTA: SA • What CPU and its speed • How much RAM, also what kind (DDR, SDRAM) and speed • What video card and driver version • Which version of Windows (and any service packs) • Which DirectX version and driver version • What sound card and driver version • History: Is this your first install? Did it work once before? Anything that is relevant. • Screenshots, if applicable. This is especially necessary with display issues which can be explained far easier by use of visual aids. • Above all else, a detailed description of your problem. Give as much information as possible! Keep it relevant, though. We don't need a fifty-page printout from some diagnosis program. Usually the above prompts will suffice. If you don't know the more detailed specs of your system, and the system control panel is of little help for most of these, download and use Everest Free Edition 2.20 or Fresh Diagnose. Be sure to extract only the relevant information from these programs - again, lengthy printouts are meaningless and tedious to rifle through. To find this info, go to Start, Run(XP)/Search(VISTA AND 7) and type in DXDIAG and press Enter, then the first page will show the main info about the PC, then the Display tab shows the Video Card info, and the Sound tab shows the Sound card info. Also, Screen shots and/or Videos help a lot in these cases. Also, Are you using the Original DVD or a No DVD crack? If using a crack, then get rid of it and use the Original DVD and that could solve the problem. Is this the Retail version? Or a Download? If downloaded, from where? lil weasel
It's possible that your system updated a driver. First try deleting the GTA_SA.set file, reboot and try the game. There is NO Patch for the Version 2, as it already contains the patch to Version 1. (1.01patch). Presuming you are playing the game from the Original DVD and nOT trying to use a No-CD program/crack; You may want to UNINSTALL the game and reinstall: If you're on Vista, you'll need to do this: 1) Uninstall SA. 2) Delete the installation folder if it still exists. (e.g. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 3) Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas). 4) Delete the gta_sa.set file from your user files folder. 5) Reboot. 6) Reinstall SA. radioman
version 2 with patch That right there is more than likely the problem, as (lil weasel said), there is no Patch for V2-only V1 has/had a patch for it. And all that did was remove the "Hot Coffee" from V1 games and provide a few fixes for V1 users-the patch is obsolete/will not work on V2 games. So, are you playing from the Original DVD? or a No-DVD crack? Is this the Retail(DVD) version, or a downloaded version? If Downloaded from where? also, I explained in great detail how to find ALL the necessary system information for Troubleshooting topics in my last post above, as well as the above questions to determine the problem, but you did not answer them.-those are important things to know to determine a solution to problems of this nature. Answer these questions please and do as lil weasel suggested (a un-install/re-install) and post back your results. Just a heads up.
