Lol I always thought it was Iraqi, especially since grape vine is indiginous there and gorws everywhere. I'm absolutely addicted to it too man, but we make ours very different from the ones in Turkey when I went there on holiday couple of years back. First we cook the rice a lot more, so it;s sticky and mush, and we usually fill them half with rice or boiled wheat semolina and half witha kinda thick bolognaise sauce - but with lamb, thyme and a bit of concentrated pomegranate juice/syrup. And we also stuff all sorts of other vegetable too - paprikas/bell peppers, onions (these are amazing too, especially if they are semi caramalised after stuffing), sweet potatoes etc... I'm really not sure who made it first, and using what method, but all I know is the ones my grandma makes are probably the best thing I've ever tasted! Man, now I'm really hungry, and there's no dolmas anywhere. By the way, according to the Bible, we also invented sex! Beat that bichezzz! I prefer onesd made in Britain, or ones you buy here anyway, i think they're Greek or Turkish, but they are the bomb, in Turkey i had it a few times and it was nice but kind of sweet, not as good as ones you get in Turkish shops here. Also in turkey, if you go to the docks there's thousands of people selling mussels filled with rice and lemon, beautiful. Lol, your lucky your granny can cook, my Irish one is a great cook but my Turkish one cooked me what was essentialy fried grease

Lol, your lucky your granny can cook, my Irish one is a great cook but my Turkish one cooked me what was essentialy fried grease Oh, you mean the ones in those big cans? Man they are amazing, and the rice inside is excellently done too. Must remember to get a couple of cans tomorrow from the international food store here with my shopping. I have no clue what style they're based on, but the herbs they use and the oil preserve (as opposed to tomatoe sauce like with Iraqi Dolmas) definately makes them some of the very best. When I went to Turkey, we went to Marmaris (yeah, not the best family holiday place - would love to back there on my own sometime though), and we brought them from the local supermarket deli section. They didn't have any sweet dolmas, like I said the rice inside was still quite hard - I'd definately must try the sweeter dolmas in Turkey, I can't believe I never heard of them before. I'd also love to see Turkish seafood, especially since Iraq has virtually no such concept lol. Though tbh, mussels aren't really my cup of tea - but then again, I never tried them either so can't judge rightaway. Haha I remember when my grandma too can't cook for sh*t when I was younger. Then she eventually learnt from watching cooking shows and asking her cook to teach her - so in essence, it isn't her recipe, but one she learnt from that woman who used to cook for us. My other grandma (paternal) is only good at making the best red tomato sauces - never tasted anything thivker and richer. Everything else, she is completely hopeless at lol.
