Good luck using those "consumer rights" in a court without code references and against heavily integrated high-priced lawyers the corporate-backed prosecution will be using.

 

If you read the latest US annotated code book you'll see there is literally open clauses in every law, prosecution and defense success is more dictated by financial and social means, it always has been. Basically the old saying 'money talks and bullsh*t walks' still stands true. You think if politics and justice were dictated by written rules the world would be in its current state? Nearly every action today contradicts set-rules. A hobo law-genius vs a corporation is still an open-closed case; violation irrelevant.

I actually covered reversing securom and the securom launcher. I don't know about the steam launcher. I have no comment on YOUR intelligence, your input speaks for itself.

@crackdawg = there are at least 6 different illegal releases that use different methods to run, then there is the steam launcher and securom no dvd launcher which happen to be the exact same file. 17 may have been a slight overstatement, but there are more than 7 or 8 ways. oh yes another way is to make and mount a mini image.

That's illegal, you lost your key. You should have contacted Rockstar, your now using a illegal crack to play the game. It's the KEY that allow's you to play the game legally, not the disk.

No, let me explain. The Official No-CD launcher is basically the same as the regular one, except it does not require a disc. Everything that worked with the original launcher will most definitely work with the No-CD one.

I have activated my game with the Securom Activation thingy and I used the Securom No-DVD thingy but I can't play multiplayer anymore. :S

I'm using the latest patched version 1.0.0.4.

The eventual goal I guess is to make these companies stop using DRM stuff for legitimate paying customers. In the end it takes the bad guys a day or maybe less to circumvent these, and it's all at the expense of the paying customers.

 

Of course the DRM measure that is the reason of this thread is so 20th century, it isn't even funny.

 

Kudos for the guys who released Just Cause 2, marvellous game and no need for the DVD to be in the drive, Rockstar should follow this great example.

LESS DETAILED? does gta iv have animated detailed grass, flowers, leaves and trees very close to crysis? NO does GTA IV have water that you can see into and has real accelerated physx? NO Does GTA IV have destructable environments? NO

What, about 60% of the land is covered with mountains, not even forests? Now, I will consent that I only played the demo, but there was nothing there to convince me to buy the full game.

 

Better foliage? OK. Like Crysis? Nope.

Better physics? Then GTAIV? lol

Better draw distance? And what does it have to draw? A few trees and a mountain while using a few megs of textures.

No pop in/No lag? No detail, nothing for your machine to get worried about.

 

What else do we have?

Crappy, ultra crappy car handling, GTA 1 and 2 had it better.

Vast scarcely populated map, it's big but rather empty. There are a lot of smaller towns, but after seeing a few I had no interest to go and look for the others.

A bad action/simulation ratio (for my taste).

Crappy animations (again, for me).

 

At least one point we agree on, there is simply no comparison.

 

Also, lol at the above "greatest games of all times" comment. But I guess opinions are like assholes.

LOL this dicussion went from nodvd to a comparison between GTAIV and Just Cause 2. Now I like both games, I did however reach over 100 hours for Just Cause 2 at the moment, I guess that at least is an indication that the game is indeed kick ass. And it looks great as well using DX10 instead of antique DX9. It is a true sandbox and surely some aspects of it should / could be implemented into a future GTA.

 

Edit to add, to reach 100% in GTAIV took me about 50 hours, on JC2 the current 100 hours of game plays equals around 50% completion. Nothing more needs to be added I think.

as much as i like just cause 2, i can never like it more than IV. any gta game i can play for countless of hours not even completing missions, fkin around, just for fun.

but then, even in jc2, i'd waste some time driving around and paragrappling (yes) around the trees and such, but nothing beats cruising in liberty city. [mainly 'cos cars handle so much better i guess]

 

+ imposing violence on innocent civilians isn't nearly as fun in jc2. altho grappling them onto different vehicles and killing them in various ways is much fun, they die too easily.

 

and voice acting, haha, in jc2 is so bad it's good

Seriously, comparing Just Cause 2 and GTA IV is like comparing Rosa Acosta with Beyoncé, they're both as good but the two total different things.

I love to play the both and I think that JC is an epic graphic win and an epic win in plain fun but GTA is an epic win in graphic and is also fun.

True, JC has a bigger map. True, IV has a better plot, blah blah, you can keep this up for months but it's still like the console war, you aren't gonna find a winner, go to the games' topics and beef there, leave this topic the f*ck alone!
