So apparently, this is not Rockstar's fault. This is not Europe's fault. This is Sony's fault. The game had already cleared all the national censors in all the countries when the 360 version was released. SONY doesn't like something. SONY wants it edited.

 

I agree that Princess Robot Bubblegum could be a target, because Japan is in the middle of controversy about child pornography laws that could make the type of cartoon that Princess Robot Bubblegum is a parody of illegal. What else in the Television content of EFLC could Sony be upset about? But then the weird thing is, why only Sony Europe? Apparently Princess Robot Bubblegum will be seen on PS3s in Japan.

 

We'll know when we're able to compare the versions.

Being a multi platform Gta player. I'm Most annoyed that the ps3 version is being edited, here's hoping it's nothing major and doesn't reduce the '' Fun Factor '' at all.

 

The one thing that get's me though, if the game does have anything removed from it that's a major gameplay factor i will be ticked off. As i don't have the money to upgrade my PC just to play DLC for a game.

I've already preordered it from my local (very local) gamestore and hopefully, they'll give me my copy. Providing of course they have any. I mean, you never know, they might already be in the backroom of gamestores on the 30th and managers willing to sell and throw the finger at R*.

I don't like the way they treat PC users , they consider it as a side platform , but they dont actually realize that their success is "born" by PC technology like every other game if the PC didnt exist they wouldnt even exist so it is very rude of them.

That is quite true but its also true of almost every other developer in existence too....Ubi, EA, Codemasters, and almost any other developer you care to name have been releasing games for console first, IF it proves popular enough they will do a port to PC. I'm not saying that is ALWAYS the case, I have a number of games myself made specifically for PC, but the vast majority of games are console first. The only real difference from one company to the next is in the time difference between console and PC release.

 

Having said that I also do get tired of seeing PC's treated as the least important platform, we're continually told its down to piracy, but I have rarely met a console gamer who doesn't also pirate their games, get their console chipped etc. I see very little difference in piracy for each platform. I also get tired it seeing PC games limited by the fact it was console first, best example of that is in how we get to save, we're presented with slots as if it was a console, rather than a ***GB /TB HDD with no real limits on size and qty of saves, also I often frustrated by many games where I dont get a choice on where my saved game goes either, we used to get that in the past, you could put them anywhere you wanted, is that progress/improved tech???.

 

Back on the topic though I dont like delays, bug ridden releases, but unfortunately they have become the norm in PC gaming, and to all those console gamers who think your safe, I'd suggest the reason for HDD and internet connections being included these days is not just for your convenience, its also so developers can be lazy and release games with KNOWN bugs present. I really wish lawmakers would put in place laws that force developers to release games without any known bugs, set some kind of minimum quality standard that all developers (games, apps, OS) must meet before the product can be released...I know it can never be released 100% bug free, but when games are released with major problems, thats just plain wrong and could be avoided, but they'd rather get the game out to screw money out of their fans and patch (most of it) up later. Consoles will soon be seeing many of the same issues PC's do, internet connections make things too easy for developers, cant wait till consoles get DRM Assassin's Creed 2/UBI style, cause I'm betting they will. Piracy exists on all platforms.

I dont agree, I have a number of CD burning programs that can copy the games, and getting your console chipped is easy, in my town of Adelaide alone there are quite a number of people willing to chip it for you, and all you need do to find these people, ask someone else who already has a console, chances are they've had it chipped. So not sure its really any harder, its not exactly easy on PC either with newer DRM controls, online activation, you can still pirate them but you'll also miss out on any online components, something you wont miss out on if you pirated a console game, because the only check is done locally on the console, there is no serial no. or any other check before your allowed to logon. So in an age where more games are including online modes of play I'd say there is little difference in piracy.

 

I'm not going to start quoting statistics for any of this and to be honest I dont really believe they are accurate. I have a PC, as PS1, 2, 3, Xbox, and I've owned most older consoles and older systems a like C64, they are ALL easily pirated because as soon as someone comes up with new anti piracy method, the pirates figure out how to get around it. I dont pirate games, but its not hard to do. Also most anti piracy methods have proven to cause more trouble for the legit buyers/fans than they do for pirates.

Ah well, at least there's still gaming companies out there that do care for PC gaming... unlike them moneygrubbing whores from R*.

 

Funny thing is, I saw this delay coming from miles away, so it wasn't a really hard decision to make.

I really don't understand why some people are going crazy over this, I understand that for PC users it's a big slap in the face, but no matter what would of happened, somebody would of been pissed off because from the way I see it, there's a few scenarios that could of taken place.

 

• Rockstar could of simply delayed the PS3 EU version of the game and not the PC version but then you would of pissed off EU PS3 owners or if both were delayed then you would have a pissed off EU EFLC fanbase and a cocky American EFLC fanbase
• Rockstar could of simply delayed the PS3 version in both EU and America and left the PC version to be released on March 30th (it was the 30th right? Or the 31st?) whilst the PS3 version gets released the 13th of April, but then you got a pissed off PS3 EFLC fanbase in both EU and America.
• Rockstar could of just whipped it out on SCEE and not delay it at all but now you got a pissed off SCEE on Rockstar's ass.

No matter what Rockstar could of done, you still have a lot of people who are pissed in the end, but again, it's only two weeks, buy a cheap game to keep you busy or if you own a PS3 play God of War III to no end. Actually I would say if Sony are pissed off at the EU version being released later then that's their problem and R* should of simply said "if you want it released same date as PC EU/US, PS3 US, then stop delaying it" because whatever it is Sony EU want changed, it clearly wasn't something EU law required because the X360/PC EU versions didn't require this change. It's obviously down to some stupid thing that ONLY Sony EU want, nobody else, so they can only complain to themselves if its delayed, no need to delay everyone else just because Sony EU want to be petty.

 

The only good reason I can think of is that it's been delayed for everyone because R* have woken up and realised that the whole exclusive thing was a bad idea and it's better to stick with releasing products for everyone at the same time.

Clearly, you cannot grasp how the deal went:

 

1.) MS pays over $50,000,000 for the downloadable content to be exclusive to the XBOX 360.

 

-- This contract basically specifies that they have to release it on the XBOX first, and no other consoles. It was an contractual obligation, and even if R* wanted to, they couldn't.

 

2.) R* decides not to pass such a deal up anyways, and bites.

 

3.) The contract expires, and R* can now release the DLC on the PC and PS3.

 

So you see, R* was stupid because they signed the contract, and not because they released it on the XBOX first.
