NTAuthority
I expect (and hope so, for all you people with 2+ GPUs) that it's not specific to EFLC, but more specific to patch 6. Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding!

Well, R* DOES release patches to make the game run okay with the DLC's. But then again, it only mentions EFLC, which comes on an apart disc. Like the TLaD-DLC/TLaD-EFLC multiplayer incompability. FireItUp
Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought IV supported sli since patch 1. Here's a quote from the frequently asked questions thread. When GTA 4 was released on the PC on 2nd/3rd December 2008 it DID NOT support SLI. However by applying update 1 AND using at least the 180.84 driver from Nvidia will enable SLI with GTA 4. Now for those that fancy their GPU's in an ATI flavour then you can rest assured GTA 4 does support Crossfire as long as you use the 8.12 Catalyst driver (or later). GTA IV runs worse with SLI enabled than without, so in my terms, that's not 'supporting', haha

anus
That's some good news. But then again it wouldn't be all that good unless they manage to optimise it more for SLI, unlike with IV.
JohnZS
That's some good news. But then again it wouldn't be all that good unless they manage to optimise it more for SLI, unlike with IV. Patch 6 should hopefully fix a lot of the GTA IV engine issues on the PC. From what I have heard the EFLC engine is more geared towards the PC as opposed to a half attempted port from the XBox. Patch 6 in theory should be what GTA IV SHOULD have been when it was released! Hopefully Red Dead Redemption when it eventually arrives on the PC will be tuned to the PC platform too. What amazes me is how Crytek and 4A Games games seem to be able to work effectively on multiplatform titles, yet R* seem to do half-cooked ports. Just Cause 2 is even good on the PC too (well at least the Demo is). John

Crytek and 4A Games make the gme for the PC first, including all the awesome stuff, and then downgrade it for the Xbox 360's and PS3's antique hardware. FYI: I can run Crysis and Metro 2033 at the highest settings possible (Dx10 for me, no PhysX) on a Core 2 Quad, 4GB RAM and a HD4830 PC, and just sometimes touch 15FPS, otherwise it's 25 or above. GTA IV maxed out drops to 0 FPS when looking around, otherwise it's just about 25 FPS. Edited March 20, 2010 by ikt
