Deffpony
I honestly would not like this idea but I would still play the game. Although I feel like it wouldnt work there is a chance that it might.
redx165
Maybe as a DLC but I really wouldn't play as a girl. I mean I can't see a girl starting from nothing and going up a criminal empire and being on top. I can't see that.

JB94
Catalina would make a great female Protag IMO Catalina won't return but maybe a relative for the new era, who's just as fiery, ruthless and commanding as Catalina was... If she belonged in a kitchen, as the oblivious guys in this thread suggest, she'd be cooking grenades (see what I did there?) Sharpening her katana blade or just straight-up polishing her prized M468
spiderman3000
I have a lot of ideas in my mind how a female protagonist can work in games, but in a game like GTA, its way difficult to make it work. If you REALLY want to have a female protagonist in a gta game, the only thing on top of my head right now is to have YOU the player, play as a guy, bodyguard of sorts for the female character and the story completely revolves around her. negrodamus
It wouldn't be realistic. Compared to men, women play a very small role in the criminal world. Like someone said in a previous post. If Niko was a woman, the Russian mafia wouldn't even have contacted her and so on, she would barely even get her foot into organized crime if at all. Prometheus
First mission is to nurse old men.Second mission is to learn how to cook very well. 3rd mission is to babysit kids of that balcony guy. 4th mission is race to wallmart in a small tiny car which looks suspicious to a Smart. 5th mission is to get a bag of vegetables, canned food, fish and soup. 6th mission is to kill a fish you got from that wallmart guy and fry that little bastard. Final mission is to make a damn perfect sandwich. Give me a break. The save point is at the kitchen. Seriously, I don't think it's an idea that suits GTA. More like Saints Row [you can actually play as a female right]? Lol, the savepoint is indeed at the kitchen. And agreed. From what I have seen you can play as a female character Saints Row. Not sure though because Saints Row is not my game. ....I just realized that at CJ's home in SA, the save point IS at the kitchen! Does that mean the protagonist was originally supposed to be female? poklane
Good morning/afternoon/evening. I'm sure this topic has been discussed, but I didn't exactly want to get killed for bumping and I couldn't find a previous thread relating. Anyway, I believe it would be nice if the protagonist of V was a woman; it's long overdue. The last game to have the ability to play as a woman WITHOUT modding the game and through a single player campaign is the original GTA's mission pack set in London. R* is long overdue for a woman, I'd think. I've been hoping for a GTA game with a female protagonist for a long time. Maybe now's the time? And no. I don't simply feel this way for the boobs. I don't get 'erocktions' from video games. At the end, the only reason males want a female protagonist is to look at her tits and ass 24/7. Pantalla
Bad idea, game wont sell as much, and majority of players are males. People want to play as someone they can somewhat relate too. They need to take it back to the streets. If by back to the street's you mean another gang banging stereo type, then I sincerely hope not, and I doubt thee would be a female protag for the reasons stated by ps2_master94 Well San Andreas is the best selling game so why not Only by 3 million copies and it's been out much longer than IV. (I'm just stating the facts not trying to start a war.) I don't want a female protaganist - the women's rights groups would go crazy and anyway, I couldn't take a women seriously in a GTA game. I mean, imagine if Niko had been a women: 'She' would never have been hired by the Russian Mafia and then Dmitri wouldn't backstab you and IV wouldn't happen. Also, when Niko'la' is threatening Faustin before 'she' kills him he would have just laughed in 'her' face! They're criminals so of course they are going to be sexist - a female protaganist would just not work. And also if Niko was a woman she would have never served in the Yugoslav Wars, making the main story arc of the game impossible. We wouldn't mind having a tough female lead but not if it's going to make her backstory irrelevant to anything that's gone on in the real world. AtomicPunk
In all seriousness, I would not be surprised in the least if R* made a female protag in the future. But so far, GTA, in a sense, is made for men. You don't see men going around demanding to be in a Tampax commercial. That's because it's for women. Why can't groups have their own thing? Why does it have to be open for everyone? Whatever happened to individual freedom? It's because nobody knows their place anymore, and I'm not saying that in the sense that women need to stay at home, because that's rediculous, but still yet, why if I make a game for me and my buddies, why would I have to accomodate every race and species? I know it's a touchy subject, but really, why can't we have things for ourselves? Why do we have to let everyone in the clubhouse? I wouldn't demand that a female clubhouse let me be a member. That's because I know my place. Good for them if they can start their own clubhouse. If you are mad because you can't be part of mine, then go make your own. Quit tryin' to steal what I've built. There's a lot of that going on these days.
Mainland Marauder
But so far, GTA, in a sense, is made for men. Want me to let you in on a secret? There are more females on this forum than you think, as well as in any online gaming communities in which you might participate. And yes, they even play GTA. They tend not to identify themselves as such. They do this not because of an identity crisis or they want to be male, but they do it so as not to get a bunch of PMs and whatnot from horny teenage boys who have not yet figured out how to speak to females. theworldfamous
GTA probably gets more female players than most other games. But I don't think they'll do a female protagonist for GTA. I dunno.. just doesn't seem right. But they should do a female protagonist for the next RDR, or Bully 2. Now that would be a f*cking brilliant move.
