They need to take it back to the streets. If by back to the street's you mean another gang banging stereo type, then I sincerely hope not, and I doubt thee would be a female protag for the reasons stated by ps2_master94 Well San Andreas is the best selling game so why not Because the main reasons that it sold were a huge map, tonnes of stuff to do and the facet that III and VC were amazing, I certainly didn't buy the game because "oh awesome we can play as a stereotypical gang banger black guy, and don't know anyone who did, however a map that is of the scale of SA would be amazing, especially if it was based on Miami and Cuba most average people bought SA either for the big map of the gang banging. and guess whos buying gta mostly- not serious gamers, but average kids/teens. and a lot of that most was the gang banging, thats why i bought it What!? Having some smoking hot girl who knows Kung Fu would definitely ruin the game. If not a hot ninja chick, it would probably have to be a realistic butch lesbian like Elizabeta Torres. If you find a balance point between the two then you get...Michelle from GTA IV? She had a somewhat realistic backstory but shes not the type you would imagine shooting guns out of cars and beating up men. That's a logical fallacy, it brings up the fact that the majority of players are 14-24 year old males... and although you could probably relate better to a male protagonist, since you spend most of the time either looking at the back of a car, or the back of the character then what would you rather look at, dudes ass or chicks ass... Seriously, do I have to point this out? I thought Tomb Raider solved this almost 15 years ago. EDIT: Also on the whole, "Women are more devious" thing, there are exceptions to the rule... and if you want examples just look at Lizzy Borden and Aileen Wuornos link two distinctively NOT SUBTLE KILLERS. Just because it's not common doesn't mean it doesn't happen. In the long run most people aren't shady criminals or murdering lunatics either, but the protagonist has always been one... So long as rockstar keep a few things in mind: The crime world, as stated, isn't big on females, it's an old fashioned sexist world. The story would have to be exceptionally well thought out and written to compensate this. The character has to be good. Rare for R* to fail at this point, but they'd have to give her a very strong motivation. More so then Niko's Johnny's etc. They'd have to be tasteful about it, loads of players will dress her like a sl**, R* need to avoid this, but at the same time preventing her from being like a nun. The clothes would be tricky to get right. And to anyone who says a woman wouldnt be tough enough i have 2 points for you: 1 - child birth 2 - ever p*ssed a woman off? *Cue Lee Evans' joke about women on the front line* The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Women can make good heroes: Lara Croft, Jill Valentine, that woman from the game I never played etc. But they don't really fit into the whole Grand Theft Auto situation as somebody that people would like to control while carrying out the work faced by a gta protagonist, for reasons that have already been mentioned. If there was a game where you played as a Female Criminal.. some people would probably buy it and it would be quite revolutionary in a sense.. but it wouldn't pull in GTA numbers and for that reason it's too much of an unneccessary risk for Rockstar. The same way they can get millions with the most stupid claims to sue companies (putting cat in microwave, cat dies, wasn't in manual you shouldn't do that, woman sues maker, woman gets paid 2 million, welcome to America), they also get mad for the slightest thing. With a female protagonist you would have to have male prostitutes for the back of your car, male strip joints, a mission making sandwiches and of course a mission that involves cleaning. Also the driving will be very difficult and could cause a lot of issues. Braking a nail would be game over more or less. I could go on but I'll leave it there.
