reform
I've read through some old posts & your vocabulary is pathetic, it's "fag this" or "fag that". Why don't you come back when you've left the school playground. Moron. Seriously, isn't "fag" a little played out? The only time I hear that word anymore is when some tow headed, high voiced, popinjay is screaming it across the playground. It's only funny if yyou're talking about bikers. GR7
I believe women can be just as capable as a man and just as ruthless. Look at Griselda Blanco. I have no issue with a female protagonist but at the same time you don't see men asking for them add a man to to the main Sex and the City cast. They have things that are theirs and while some men might enjoy it is clearly catered to women. Why can't men have something like that in GTA? What is wrong with letting us have something that is testosterone driven? What do you mean by "just as capable as a man and just as ruthless" you feminists keep on syaing this but i don't get it, what did she do exactly other than give men orders, whats so hard about that ?? Her bio even says she was a prostitute for a few years how is that ruthless, an ant could do that if they knew how to speak the only thing she was ruthless at was giving head. I am far from being a feminist in the way that feminists are viewed these days and I am the first to speak my mind on gender issues but I don't blind myself to the fact that women can be just as vicious and ruthless as men are. I spent a few years involved in some not so good stuff and the women that I came across were not much different than the men. The only thing that ticks me off is that if women want to be seen as equal then they shouldn't complain when they are treated the same way a man is. You can't shout about how strong and independent you are and then expected to treated like a little flower. That's a good point the only way there could truly be equality is if there was equality for everything the good and the bad. But at the same time I don't think I could ever really do that, for example if a girl hits me I just don't have it in me to hit her back.

Man were you bullied in school? Your constant childish name calling is really a hallmark of inner frustrations needing a release otherwise I'm not sure why it's so hard to conduct yourself & share your opinion properly on the forum without getting into a "fag" tantrum every time somebody has a different opinion than you or you misunderstand what somebody says.. Kirsty
Just report people who are making a nuisance of themselves and move along I'm sure now Rockstar have this switching technology figured out that we'll see a female character some day. I don't see why not. Personally I'm not bothered what the gender is; it wouldn't make me connect more to the character just because they were also a girl. The only thing I'd hope for was that she was a woman with a believable story though, and not just full of clichés.

Snake Without a Tongue
The only thing I'd hope for was that she was a woman with a believable story though, and not just full of clichés. Well, GTA is pretty much driven by cliche, but I'm assuming you mean something NOT like Bayonetta or Lollipop Chainsaw. Like everybody else has said, Catalina would be what I'd imagine a female lead to be if ever there were to be one. And at this point, with three protagonists, I wouldn't put anything past R*. Kirsty
^ Yeah I probably should have worded it differently. What I mean is games are obviously not reality and maybe character back stories aren't a good reflection of it, but if they did a strong female character that people would enjoy playing as, they might make her too over-the-top rather than "normal". I'd want a woman who can fight on her own believably, just like all the males can, rather than something airbrushed with big boobs just to appeal to players. Alastair Smyth
I absolutely agree. Most female video game characters (or at least protagonists) seem to be molded after nerd fantasies. Relating to a character is one thing, but not being annoyed to death with them is a good starting point. Look at what they did to Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider games. I remember being a kid and seeing artwork and graphics released and it was nothing short of soft porn.

Hardly
Women have no reason to envy any of these traits really. Women can't have everything men can have, and vice-versa, as men never ever get to use sex as an influence or bribe. Only way a woman can be truly evil, is when she's seducing men and then killing them. A men-hater. I'm a man and I've bribed women with sex before. Just saying. It's idiotic the way you people complain that you're not getting any, yet think that this is a problem for all men and not just yourself. You don't speak for me. I could imagine a female protagonist who's some army chick that gets kicked out or maybe even an ex-cop, even though I don't enjoy the "dirty ex-cop" cliche at all. But strangely most of all I imagine a female protagonist being an androgynous-looking Asian street gangster. Ghetto Mulan. Believable is the best way to go, but then how would they play it, when everyone's pereception of believable is different? In my own life I've seen many a woman, a few of which are almost unbelievable with the things that they are capable of, so this problem wouldn't apply to me. How would R* combat the naive and stupid among today's society who won't really pick up on any of the themes that a female protagonist's story include? Have Mercy
I find men to be better protagonist. Women should just accept their already huge role in the world. Women can use sex to influence men. Women also get a lot of benefits like "ladies first" and will get huge amounts of support if they're... abused by their spouse, or even raped for example. No such support for men exists. I'd say the 2 genders even out, but for a crime-related thing, men are usually better at it. They're also better at playing evil people. I can't think of any women who can portray someone evil, as well as Peter Stormare or William Dafoe. And I can't picture a woman ever coming across as eccentric and crazy as Steve Buscemi in Fargo. Men can get frustrated and profoundly angry. They are probably responsible for most atrocities in history. So men can be more compelling and evil; but when a woman is evil, it's often just to try and get back at men. Women have no reason to envy any of these traits really. Women can't have everything men can have, and vice-versa, as men never ever get to use sex as an influence or bribe. Only way a woman can be truly evil, is when she's seducing men and then killing them. A men-hater. It's just that Hollywood isn't there yet. Nobody though Miami can seem like an evil place until Scarface came out.. When you see these movies, you'll change your mind..
matt19811
Having a female protaganist wouldn't be all that bad if we can have two normal players also. We are supposed to be here to discuss te inclusion of a female protagonist. Not launch personal attacks on people. On-topic, though this is fairly minor I wonder if feminine characters will have a more major role this time around, because it seems that Michael and Franklin have female accompaniments that could influence elements of the story. I would still however like to see a female protagonist in the future.
JB94
Has it really been three months since we last touched this thread? Wow. I don't get why we haven't even seen a female protagonist as an episodic character, surely that would be one way of breaking the mold. Although I still the think the best way would be including a female protagonist in a protagonist setup similar to V, where there are multiple protagonists, that way R* could still ensure sales, and even net more sales from a female audience that may be attracted to the new setup. Kirsty
I can see we've had plenty of discussion in this topic, but since it was bumped from November, we might as well stick to the latest one. Quote from other topics: OK I can deal with a couple, but 5 of the same topic on one page? Let's move this over to the topic below since it has plenty of pages plus a poll Should DLC have a female protagonist?
