leik oh em jeez!
Right now I'm using XP 64. The only other operating systems I have are XP pro x86, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x86, and Vista Home Basic x86, so I'm sticking with XP for now. What I'm looking for is some OS custimizations. I'm kind of looking for a really good Vista transformation pack that'll work with XP 64, but all I really want is the visual theme, and side bar. No boot screens or welcome screens or anything. I'm also wondering if there is any way to get media center running on XP 64. I would of course need to find my XP MCE CD first, but MCE checks the OS name to make sure it's running on MCE. dice
Most programs written for a 32bit version of windows will work on the 64bit model. Exceptions are usually drivers or some specifically made programs.
leik oh em jeez!
Problem is that many of them use 32-bit DLLs. 64-bit applications (such as explorer.exe) can't load 32-bit DLLs. And the vista theme I tried to use had a check in the installer to make sure you're running x86.
Star-Lord
What I'm looking for is some OS custimizations. I'm kind of looking for a really good Vista transformation pack that'll work with XP 64, but all I really want is the visual theme, and side bar. No boot screens or welcome screens or anything. How about this? On the XP 64 partition install this and only select the features you want. Vista & 7 look pretty much the same. I'm also wondering if there is any way to get media center running on XP 64. I would of course need to find my XP MCE CD first, but MCE checks the OS name to make sure it's running on MCE. That will not work. XP MCE is tie altogeher and when trying to install over another version of windows (Home Or Pro) it will format and install itself. What you can do is create another partition on your C:/ drive and install XP MCE on that one then use something like this to boot from one to the other. Fozzy Fozborne
I'm pretty sure Media Center is tied into the actual OS, kind of like IE and WMP. Have a gander at this if you're not dead set on media center itself.
