Question about the taxi missions

I dropped of 77 fares and then failed the next fare. Do i have to star over or does it count if i drop off 27 fares so that i have completed the taxi missions ?

I'm pretty sure it counts.

The Taxi side job is the only R3 mission that does not have to be done in a row-you can do one here, one there is you would like, the only benefit to doing them all in a row, is the cash benefit from every 5 fares. So, since you have 77(as long as you saved the game afterwards), you only need 23 more fares to finish the mission.

 

It is even mentioned in the Pinned walk through by Demerest that you should "nickle and dime" the taxi fares to make them less boring. It is the "Ultimate Start To Vice City" topic and is pinned in this section. Just a heads up.
