Mr.Mister
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/world-n...-iran-1.1013151 Hundreds of powerful US “bunker-buster” bombs are being shipped from California to the British island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean in preparation for a possible attack on Iran. The Sunday Herald can reveal that the US government signed a contract in January to transport 10 ammunition containers to the island. According to a cargo manifest from the US navy, this included 387 “Blu” bombs used for blasting hardened or underground structures. Experts say that they are being put in place for an assault on Iran’s controversial nuclear facilities. There has long been speculation that the US military is preparing for such an attack, should diplomacy fail to persuade Iran not to make nuclear weapons. Although Diego Garcia is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory, it is used by the US as a military base under an agreement made in 1971. The agreement led to 2,000 native islanders being forcibly evicted to the Seychelles and Mauritius. The Sunday Herald reported in 2007 that stealth bomber hangers on the island were being equipped to take bunker-buster bombs. “The US is not publicising the scale of these preparations to deter Iran, tending to make confrontation more likely,” he added. “The US ... is using its forces as part of an overall strategy of shaping Iran’s actions.” “It is depressingly similar to the rhetoric we heard prior to the war in Iraq in 2003.” If it really happens, I wonder if Canada would join in since we like to do what you guys do... hopefully not this time! freak2121
Why can't the US just back off from attacking countries in the Middle East? Besides, Iran isn't like Iraq or Afghanistan. Edited March 15, 2010 by freak2121

SanAndreasManiac
why don't they do the same thing with Venezuela? Chavez is a crazy paranoic warmonger cabrón, much worse than Armadinejad
Algonquin Bridge
Perhaps they're running out of space in their existing facilities, and need somewhere roomier to stash those lovely bombs?

Tommy-Vercetti19
I'm sick of all this violence. If it does happens there will be dire consequences. I don't even like thinking if a full-scale war broke out. Knowing me i'd think the worst. Isn't Ahmadinejad the guy who wanted to blow up Israel? Creed Bratton
why don't they do the same thing with Venezuela? Chavez is a crazy paranoic warmonger cabrón, much worse than Armadinejad And Obama isn't? First he sent 20000 more troops to the East, then he increased the nuclear weapon development budget another $600000 if I remember correctly, and now this? Honestly, I thought this was a milestone thread
Mike Tequeli
why don't they do the same thing with Venezuela? Chavez is a crazy paranoic warmonger cabrón, much worse than Armadinejad Is there any oil in Venezuela? Yes. Now a war with Iran would be foolish, and fairly unlikely. The US would steamroll Iran but that is irrelevant, the wars get more unpopular every day.
agent17
Another war? That would be crazy. How is that going to get us out of debt? It doesn't matter, the government expects to do the same thing over and over again and expects different results. Not too far away from insanity if I may say. Otter
Oddly... I'm so tapped out of righteous indignation after the Iraq war (and Afghanistan, although I fully supported the attempts to remove the Taliban) that I'm rather numb here. In fact, part of me kind of thinks it's a good thing. Amenidinijad (close enough) is a borderline dictator who, as opposed to Chavez, has a rather 'evil villain' side to him. Chavez is wacky, but Amenijiddy-jiddy-bangbang is a full on crack pot. However, it's about time we start re-evaluting how we go to war. Sending troops? Occupying? It doesn't work. Mike Tequeli
You would be surprised at what an oppressive c*nt Chavez is. Plus he just loves dictators like Ahmadinejad and Castro just because they aren't fans of America. I would love to see him deposed, but by his own people. Otter
Well, if we want to split hairs, there are far worse rulers in power over far more people in different places of the world today. What makes Aminidenijad a worthy target - in the dark recesses of my brain - is the fact that he poses a credible threat to the western world. copperwire93
Why can they just stop being busybody and interrupt foreign contries' affairs? Why don't they just focus on their screwed up economic recession rather than gone to war again? Isn't that going to make more losses than gain? Oh.. they might want to attack Iran to take their prosperity. ...and Obama fail!
Dstrickt
Wait, doesn't Iran have an affiliation with N. Korea? edit: What guy below me said: I say we should leave Iran alone until they make a move on us or another one of our allies. True. We are already in enough wars, and our economy isn't looking to good, anyway cause of the wars. Iran might just add in to our problems, so we should just leave them alone for now. MrcTOtheJ
Another war to be added to the pile of our wars that us the U.S are involved in, I say we should leave Iran alone until they make a move on us or another one of our allies, but then it might be too late and they would have dealt a serious blow to, us. Anyways on a sort off topic note I think we should leave Iraq we did what we went there to do find weapons of mass destruction that weren't there, and secondly find Husain, we just need to bring the troops back and let Iraq solve there own problems, I mean I do understand if a few of your solders stay to help train there army and police force for awhile but in the long run we just need to get out. Jay
They've been shipping munitions to Diego Garcia for years, constantly since 2003, I don't see how this is any indicator that they'll be used on any different targets. This has to be a slow news day, passing off assumptions as fear mongering headline grabbers.

The plans for this with Iran are over two years in the running but don't worry they will find a "good enough" excuse befoe long. ----------------------- As for the statement about Chavez......well that has another whole set of things that go with it. ------------ As for all this sort of thing in general there can be many things said but the following is just as vital as any. When you get down to the nuts and bolts of the situation you find that for some damn reason banks seem to have an awful lot to say about things. Oddsock
And people said Obama wanted to "change" things. Didn't they also say he'd withdraw the troops form the middle east? Er, yeah, that's why he IS pulling out troops and has set up an intricate timetable for pulling all major combat units out of Iraq by the August 2010 and have all troops out by 2012. Moron. I highly doubt this whole Iran thing. Right now Obama is focused on trying to calm down Iran and make it an ally, something that shouldn't be as hard after the election riots have shown a majority of the populace against Ahmadinejad. We're not going to invade, it's probably coincidental, and I wouldn't trust a local European news source like the Scotland Herald. Maybe when BBC or the Washington Post says it, eh? I honestly am not sure which way you're going with this, but this is utterly hilarious to anyone who knows just what Diego Garcia is, much less anyone who's spent more than a day there. "They" have been shipping munitions through Diego Garcia since WWII. btw, there's no armory or magazine there. It's a general-purpose depot/Naval Air Station. With a lot of goats, chickens and hermit crabs. And coconuts. Lots of coconuts. Thank heavens there's booze there or you'd go friggin' mad. It is un-American, therefore we should destroy it. USA! USA! USA! f*ck THE WORLD! Its things like this that make me feel ashamed to be American sometimes.
