ToughMan69
Hello! The real issue started earlier today when I substituted the original Launcher with a modified one for the purpose of being able to play without having to insert the game DVD into the drive everytime. After that the game failed to start. I tried clicking on the shortcut/GTA.exe/LaunchGTA but nothing helped. No signs of anything, no Rockstar social club, nothing. So I rolled back the original Launcher but the problem remained. When I attempt to start the game, the two processes GTALauch.exe and GTAiv.exe appear in the Task Manager for about 5-6s and then disappear. So I performed a complete uninstallment of the game (Revoked my License) and installed it again (re-activated my license). But the issue remained intact. I have a reason to believe that my computer is free of viruses, spyware, trojans, registry errors or any hardware problem. Newest Nvidia drivers, the same settings I used to play the game with just a few day ago. I am running Windows XP SP3 and never have such problem ever since I bought the game shortly after its release on PC. Please excuse my English and try to give me some help because after few hours of attempts to get it done I really feel desperate. P.S. I know that modifying the game files might be against the law but I only did it with the purpose to play the game without the restriction of the dvd rom. No infringement in my point of view. Wolverine10111
Howzit guys, I installed GTA 4 - Brand new from the shops for PC, had a small house full of problems with it, stuttering, lagging, freezing and what not. Formatted my PC, new Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit installation. I then installed the game again, it ran without any problems. Then, I added a some custom content, Toyota land Cruiser 100 Replacing the FXT and a Dodge Charger 69 R/T replacing the Dukes. Did everything according to instructions, even replaced the Vehshare file in the Vehicles.img using SparkIV tool. After doing so, the game doesn't launch anymore, no error's, no fault's.. Nothing. The black little screen comes up for a few seconds, then disappears. I uninstall-ed the game again, re-installed it again, it worked again. Added the custom content, bang.. Dead again. Is there some kind of custom content blocker written in to the game? If so, how do you bypass this? Thanx guys.
mkey82
ToughMan69, are you sure that file you downloaded isn't a virus? Try reinstalling the VC++ libraries found on the game DVD.
Wolverine10111
Hi guys, I FINALLY got GTA 4 to work on my system without problems, well besides the occasional stuuter (Every like 30 Minutes). And then I FINALLY got it to work with Modded Content (Seems the Xliveless.dll and CheckFileFix.asi did the trick), even though my game is Ver. 1.0.0.0 One problem though, only 1 mod works, thats replacing the Rebla with the BMW X5. All the other mod's are present, 69 Dodge Charger R/T replacing the Dukes, Toyota Land Cruiser (Big Wheels One) replacing the FXT and Mammoth Stretch replacing the normal Stretch. All these mods are in the vehicles.img package, but only the X5 works. Any1 got any suggestions how to fix this problem? PC Specs: O/S: MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53 Ghz GPU: nVidea 9600GT 1GB 128BIT DDR2 MB: ASUS P5Q-VM RAM: 2 x 2 Gig Corsair U6400 HDD: About 400 Gigs on tap Thanx Edited March 19, 2010 by Wolverine10111
