d0mm2k8
There aren't any pics or vids of GTA V yet And it definitely won't have GTA III's graphics if it's for PS3 and 360. It will possibly use a slightly advanced version of RAGE. We have no info on GTA V except that it's in the works

Jabalous
Of course without any doubt . It's going to use the same engine but with more modifications that are going to improve the graphics . So , There are going to be more polygons for every character and object , better dynamic lightning and shadows and better textures . There were big differences between GTA III and Vice City in terms of the graphics , so , expect a bigger step from IV to V - if it would be called V - than the step from III to VC . Look ate Red Dead Redemption , it definitely look better than GTA IV in terms of the graphics , whether in terms of the polygons that have been used to create every character and every object or in terms of the visual effects . Hove Beach
I was discussing this in LC+new location http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...entry1059824629, I think it'll be the same since IV's graphics got so great response from all over the globe, so they should and will probably stick to it for at least another gta game. pcnuttienoob
wow.. well i gotta say i think Rockstar needs to think about coding right especially when it comes to gamers who have high end rigs. GTA IV was a failure due to not maxing graphics and we did the rest to make the game realistic with commandline and ENB and the game is 10 times better graphics than what they did. I would love to see crytek do GTA V but we know that won't happen cuz they are too busy making crysis 2 to finish by dec 30,2010 lol. Anyways, I would like to see rockstar focus on graphics than just switching back to a older engine. They will get more attention with PC gamers if they focus on better stories and improving the game like car handling and graphics. I think they should use unreal engine or maybe havok? But i like their current engine better, they just better make sure it's optimized for everyone's pc. Also don't add Windows Live crap anymore because it's just ridicolous and a waste of time. Sure i would love to see them go through ties with steam so we can chat with friends but they can do it WITHOUT steam also. GTA V needs to expand, like make a larger story based not only on New York or LA, maybe go across seas this time? Paris? London? China? Or what? Your thoughts? But i still think New York and LA is cool but i think it'd be nice to see huge improvements. We could always go back to Las Vegas and make the game more much better and do a story like Ocean 12 lol. Oh yea they need to make the chicks more hotter and real looking instead of crappy looking fake blow up dolls lol

Darrel
. I think they should use unreal engine or maybe havok? But i like their current engine better, they just better make sure it's optimized for everyone'ssss pc. Why would they use Unreal engine when Rockstar San Diego built up the Rage engine from scratch specifically for next gen? Rage is stunning and perfect for the Gta world. And again, Rage is just as good as havok dealing with physics. Rage controls the Graphics and physics (hence game engine), It works parallel with Euphoria to create all those unique animations on the fly. Rage will get more advanced, its still a relatively new engine.

CharmingCharlie
I think the only thing we can say for sure graphically about the next GTA is the fact they won't use that god awful Vaseline blur filter. On the xbox 360 the ballad of gay tony got rid of the blur filter and I can't see that making a return (it was a stupid idea to use it in the first place). Other than that no one can really say, I would argue there isn't much roam for improvement graphics wise this generation because of the limited ram but we will have to wait and see. Suihkubad
Hopefully it will be what GTA IV was trying to do with it's graphics. So like IV but without bugs and ruff edges. I don't think GTA should ever go to total photorealism(if it will be possible)

I thought the graphics were amazing in GTA4, with the right hardware. The only gripe I have is lighting. Lighting needs to be worked on to make more "true-to-life." Some better bloom effects and soft blur wouldn't hurt. To be honest, the lighting in Bad Company 2 I thought was quite good - or Modern Warfare 2 - something like that. BUT, in my opinion all GTAV needs is slightly better lighting and more focus on story, more functions and ownership of items inside unlike GTAIV and more like GTAIII. SilentSeas
V's graphics will be the same as IV's, just with slightly smoother edges and a better frame rate.

Drujba_Dreptatii
I doubt it will have better graphics, I expect some small tweaks of it, tweaks that will probably mater. I see it this way couse there are not many pcs that can run GTA IV on max settings at this point and for a fiew years from now, so I doubt it will be hugely different from the graphics point of view. But as a personal preference I don't care how good the graphics are on any game since my pc can handle anything at max

Squishybubs
I heard R* are cutting cost by using GTA3 graphics. Lol, sarcasm aside, taking this into actual consideration, there would be next to no cost differing from GTA 3 to IV. The RAGE engine is already completed. jnzooger
This really depends on a lot. We know that the next game is going to be on the RAGE engine. However, we don't know how much RAGE will have advanced by then. I can say for a FACT that the next game will have at least slightly better graphics, as was the case with the GTA III era. There is also the high possibility of the next game having true 3D features. The other point is based on taking your title as literal as possible. Will GTA V be on 360 and PS3? If it is, then see above. However, if the next game isn't V, then V will have enhanced graphics, guaranteed. Squishybubs: RAGE may be stable, but it won't be complete until they abandon it. They will be constantly upgrading and evolving it until such point that RAGEII or RSAGE (R* Super Advanced Game Engine) or something comes out. Vecceti
They are already great. Of course they could be sharper, and I suppose the animation could use some work, but if it doesn't improve that much I won't be worried
Matty
In my opinion on the subject of the graphics being better in GTA V -- I think that they will be better, as with any game sequal the visuals always improve with the exception of a few VERY rare cases. As for the graphics being like that of real-life, that isn't possible, yet. No game so far has been able to replicate real-life enviroments to their exact detail. Sure, some elements will look like what they do in real-life, such as vehicles and buildings, but not absolutely everything.
