copperwire93
I got an annoying problem with my PC today. The HDD might be corrupted, so it went reboot automatically and I pressed restart but all I got is BSOD it says something about "please diasable your anti-virus" and the codes 00x000008 something like that. So, just want to ask is my HD compromised physically or is it just system damage? I had to log on via safe mode and run up the CHKDSK then it can boot up windows normally. I don't have any SMART diagnostics message, so I guess it's still in good condition right? Here's my screen cap regarding HD Tune results: Hard Disk <master>1: Hard Disk 2 <slave>: As you can see, my first HD got a bad sector, does it severe? Do, I have to prepare for a new HD? Or I just can fix it by run the check disk thoroughly?
Tornado Rex
Nah you should be fine. Bad sectors happen all the time. Chkdisk probably just had to get some stuff off the sector and move it to another one (which is what the BSOD and whatnot was all about). ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
copperwire93
Thanks, and sorry. Should just post this in random Qs, but I thought this is serious as my friend also had this problem before. He got nothing else to do except buy a new HD. Edit: Everything resolved for now. The transfer speed get back to normal, although it took like 7 secs to view local drives in My Computer (it less than 5secs before). And can someone explain why I got BSOD and crash when viewing My Computer before this thing happened? Should I format my PC and make a clean OS installation to prevent this from happening in the future? Edited March 15, 2010 by copperwire93
