HeliPilot
This is par for the course with GTA. You must complete storyline missions to unlock the ability to get to Staunton. Play through the game and you'll find out why the ferry and trains are closed, it's all explained. Edited March 15, 2010 by HeliPilot
radioman
You should remember from GTA III and VC, and SA, that you MUST complete the storyline to a certain point to unlock a new island, then more for the next island, etc.-no offence, but did you forget that part from III, VC, SA, and even VCS? Just curious. But yeah it is mentioned on the Radio at the beginning of the game that the ferry is down and the bridges are closed. and when you get to that part of the storyline, you will hear another radio anncouncement telling you that the strike is over and the ferry is running again, although the bridge is not completed, there will be a ramp that will allow you to access Stauntan Island, as if you remember III, the bridge is not completed til then. Just a heads up.

chapapote
although the bridge is not completed, there will be a ramp that will allow you to access Stauntan Island, as if you remember III, the bridge is not completed til then Actually, it seems that the bridge had been completed some time before the game start. If you can't use it, it's because the Cartel blew it up.
Pooka Mustard
And there is no Manhattan in Liberty City at all... The only Manhattan is IV's LC Alqonquin or whatever it was...
