Blind Joe Death
If you don't want to hear about my rather unimportant troubles; gtfo. So I was starting to feel dizzy and rather sick at work tonight, and was thinking about asking the manager if I could go home, but decided to tough it out. Went in to clean the next cinema and everything started spinning. I fell to the ground and started vomiting hardcore. Pasta that I ate an hour before was spread over the floor as I continued to vomit more out and occasionally choke on it as it made it's way out. Went home, some poor bugger cleaned it up, and I am now sitting here on my computer, running off to the toilet to either sh*t or vomit food and liquid out of my system every 10 or so minutes. I feel like crap. This sucks. The worst part is probably the light-headedness that I'm feeling. God, please make it stop. Not sure where I got it from, probably one of the many people that come in and out of the cinemas every day. This is the worst time to get sick as well: I have exams this week. Will probably call in sick and try and get them to push mine back a week. If not...failure here I come!
The Guru
That must suck. Hopefully you'll get better soon and they postpone your exams for you. makeshyft
Pac Fair cinemas? If so, I'll know to avoid them. That pasta smell is hard to get out. Sucks to be sick, though. Sounds like a gastro thing, maybe food poisoning. Hope you feel better, dude.

chris
Maybe its food poisoning? It's probably within your best interests to give work a miss and concentrate on your exam, good luck to you eitherway.
Oddsock
Could be dysentery. Have you been playing the Oregon Trail? Jokes aside, I'm major sorry for all that. I would be surprised if it's food poisoning because usually that kicks in quicker than an hour (sometimes even during the meal) and doesn't usually involve involve diarrhea, just lots of vomiting because that's the fastest way for the body to get it out. Good luck trying to settle it down and drink fluids. Don't be scared to call the hospital, that might even give you an even better excuse to postpone your exams. Rebel
Sounds pretty much what I had a year or so ago. God knows what brought it on, but I did just eat at this pub with family and I suddenly felt exactly the same. If it's anything like what I had then it's going to go away within 24 hours. Best bet is just to drink plenty of water and don't eat anything until you know it's not going to come out at either end. After that just some plain toast, crackers, tomato soup if ur still feeling a little off. While I think about it, try getting some kind of drinkable sachet for your stomach you know the kind that help when it hurts/throwing up. Seemed to work long enough for me to get a couple hours sleep straight instead of being up and down. Edited March 14, 2010 by $RebelG
Tsar_Smirnoff
The only thing that doesn't add up to food poisoning in my opinion is the dizziness part. It could be that you were allergic to some ingredient in the pasta(did it have seafood or something in it like that?). I know my brother-in-law became violently ill as you did when he ate some raw oysters at a place around here. He thought it was food poisoning at first but he eventually had to go to the hospital where he found out that he was allergic to oysters. Just something to think about, but I'd say it's more than likely some tainted food you ate.....the lightheadedness might be from dehydration. Anyway, hope you feel better soon; that sh*t sucks bad I know.

Eh? Sometimes it can take six hours for food poisoning to display any symptoms. A friend was recently caught out in Thailand after eating some bad chicken, and around five hours after the meal he was shooting like a hose from both ends, the whole ordeal ending after around 24 hours. KillerKabel
Isn't the school required to postpone? In Denmark, there are two exams. The real one, and then there is an extra exam thingy, which is held a month later or so. No individual postponings. Then again, I guess it depends on what stage of your education you are in. meta187
Sorry to hear that, my whole family was down with some really nasty stomach bug for the last two weeks, I'm the only one left who's avoided it thus far but that definitely sucks. Get some fluids and some rest. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~

Blind Joe Death
Pac Fair cinemas? If so, I'll know to avoid them. That pasta smell is hard to get out. Yep, Pac Fair cinemas. Been working there for about 4 months now, got hired at the start of the Christmas holidays. I vomited in cinema 3, so stay out of any movies going in there for the next few weeks. Well anyway, I don't think it's food poising, just a bug I picked up. It's been going around the Gold Coast all month. Had the worst sleep last night btw, probably only 3 hours of sleep, the rest me rolling around in bed or vomiting and sh*tting. I seem to be a bit better today though, just relaxing and sipping on water throughout the day. Called school and told them I won't be able to come in for my maths test tomorrow so they pushed it back to Friday. Very helpful. Cheers for all the kind wishes, guys. Flesh-n-Bone
Something similar happened to me just around three weeks ago, we also have important exams that can't be missed due to sickness at this moment and I was lucky to have it happen to me in the correct time. It happened twice in the same week and while I went to toilet my head started spinning and I no longer had control of myself so I held several things to stand still and it felt like I was blacking out as my eyes were seeing like a dark screen covered by something black and also something was blinking in front of me. Coincidentally that day I ate pasta too and that was the only thing I ate for 12 hours, so that was the cause. Things have greatly improved since then. I feel some similarities in our stories, and despite some cruelness that I really have in me, I still wouldn't wish something like that to happen to even my worst enemy. Your accident seems to be not much better - or worse for that matter.

808
I've had similar experiences but it wasn't as bad as yours. I think it was toxi-infection. Diarrhea and vomiting, but I only vomited in the morning when I woke up and then diarrhea all day. I also felt a bad taste in my mouth especially when I burped, because I was burping from time to time. I was unlucky last time because after it left my body I somehow got it again. So f*cking unpleasant, one of my most unpleasant experiences.
liam-aka-spidie
It could be Salmonella, Yes thats right Salmonella. It doesnt only come from meat products, its found in all types of foods. The worst thing about salmonella is that it dehydrates you, causes your body to use alot of its resources and can be fatal but its rare. Anything you eat or attempt to digest will go straight through you so your body will struggle alot to gain any kind of nutrition from the source. The best thing you can do is sit on the toilet and force yourself to drink water, like 5 litres if not more. It will keep your body hydrated and give some chance of digestion. Ive experinced it and its horrible. This may seem abit 'OTT' but im just trying to help Not unless you want to just call it 'The Sh*[email protected]

Blind Joe Death
Just woke up from a better sleep then the night before and I'm feeling a bit better, might try and eat something. It's been over 45 hours since I last ate something (not including the pasta I brought back up). I had some dry toast yesterday but vomited it back up within an hour. Spinning/dizziness has seemed to stop which is a very, very good thing. It was horrendous. So glad I'm not in a maths exam at this exact moment like the rest of my grade, there's no way I would be able to concentrate. Next exam is on Thursday for Music, not sure if I'll be going in or not yet; I'll see how I'm feeling. The school seem to be pretty lenient with pushing back exam dates, as long as you can show a doctor's certificate, so there's no real pressure. gtathebest4ever: Oh ok then, I'll take your word for it.
