Ziggy455
Well since most talent aroud here I've seen is pretty awesome, I was just wondering how one would better himself with art? What is the best way to learn art? Is it drawing from reference? Freehand or is it all just from your train of thought? What can I do to better myself as an artist? "I might have laughed if I'd have remembered how."
rhyn
Practice. The only way you'll develop your own style is to work and work and work at it, whether it be copying a piece you like by someone else or using other peoples styles and techniques as a starting point for your own pieces. what type of art are you interested in? Pico
In general, all artists have their own way of creating art. There are several ways they do this, such as: a reference (an imagine, item, scene, etc) Memory (mental image of subject at hand) creativity (thought based from past observations and even current references) Usually most pieces of art, of any medium, are made with a mixture of these things. If it was all reference and no memory, you'd be staring at the reference the whole time for every detail. If it was all memory and no reference, it wouldn't be exactly what you wanted because it's too hard to remember everything. If it's all creativity it won't resemble what it's supposed as it's not based off a memory or reference. The best way to learn art is to focus on a specific type, first off. Art is a wide range from sculptures, paintings, drawings (pen, pencil, charcoal, etc), etc. What you need to do is learn how to work with that medium the best. Along with that you need to understand the subject matter you're presenting. If it's a 3D art form (sculpture for example), you need to have an understanding of shape and form. If it's pencil drawing you need to understand shading. Some general things to learn about are: Perspective Form Shape(s) Space (as in open and filled space of the art piece, not outer space) Light Shadow That's about all I can think of right now... work on those things for... well for the rest of your life, lol. Practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to art.
