Flash Block ain't gonna do it for me, simply because a subscription list for what to block and the ability to block ads that are not flash is for me. I don't care if you don't mind them, I just think they're an eyesore. Besides, since I'm a regular Newgrounds visitor, it'd be really annoying to unblock each individual cartoon that I want to see. You think hosting this huge amount of material comes free of charge? You think be able to provide the world with this high speed connection regardless of location is something everyone can do? No, douche, that costs tonnes o money. In fact, YouTube, regardless of its attempts are still a business with red figures. Only reason they can keep it alive is because Google owns it, and they make tonnes of money elsewhere, which they can then distribute. But if YouTube was a no money maker or anything important, Google would ditch it pretty quickly. Disabling ads is generally a bad idea if you like the sites you visit. That's where they make their money, and more than you think make their money from 'viewing the ads' as well as 'clicking the ads' (the latter is obviously worth more), which means just by having your browser download it and showcase it to you, that is enough to help your favourite sites around. If not, these websites usually need to try something else, either force you pay for their service, try some very questionable ad techniques, that won't serve you or them in the long run or just perish. So the argument of "Oh, I'm not harming the site by blocking ads because I wouldn't click them anyway" isn't gonna cut it. It's not good financially for a site if you block their ads. I'm all for blocking those annoying flash ads, especially ones that can expand or make sound, this is the part that is the advertisers fault. We need to strike a balance where ads are acceptable on a page, but don't intrude onto what ever else it is you're doing. This is why the advertising that has started in the past year/few months on YT have pissed me off. I'm all for the ads at the side of the page, the iTunes ad under a music video and ads on the front page. But for f*cks sake get that ad off my video. I hate having to click it off about 20 seconds in. Hell, I'm even ok with the short ads that play before a video as long as it isn't too long, just dont put an ad over the video I'm watching. I was really surprised that Google OKed this due to the fact that all other advertising they do is managed well and isn't intrusive. That's my biggest gripe with recent(ish) YouTube changes. Google screwed up the whole site... YouTube is a free service with huge bills to pay -- they kinda need to make money. So unless you want to start donating to the website, my advice is to shut the f*ck up and deal with it. Or shut the f*ck up and download this. Amazing, kudos to you man, I'd love to block all those f*cktardingly annoying bullsh*t adds. Downloading now. Ontopic, Pizza - check Beer - check Smokes - check Roof over my head - check Somewhat reasonable health and generally pain-free - check Internets - check Hot chicks to oogle/attempt to impress - check Hardly the end of the world for me to be honest, now youtube has changed - even beyond my realisation before reading this topic. Well it's not that I totally despise still ads, it's just that I like to not see them if I have the option. Well this topic has certainly taught me about the harmful effects of disabling advertisements, so much so that I'm actually starting to get around the idea of disabling AdBlock now. One thing I hate about Youtube is the commenting. Instead of having seperate pages it just adds more to the page and just keeps page stretching. Its turns haywire when the last update take place (before current update, when they're down for a moment). I don't care much with the new layouts, never annoy me anyway. Yeah, it does that to me too.... and sometimes, on a new video that has a lot of comments, it will skip a ton of comments and repeat the ones from right after the video was posted. It annoys me. I dont really mind the highly irritating new layout where you cant find anything you want to nor the ads that block half the bloody clip you are trying to watch nor even the "were sorry but your ass is in the wrong f*cking country" messages that much but they have thoroughly f*cked up the site with their bloody updates. Not a single thing functions properly anymore, videos sometimes load... and sometimes they dont, menus sometimes load... and sometimes they dont, sometimes I click a reasonable expansion button and all I get is: {"errors": ["Invalid request."]} I mean, sh*t youtube, get your f*cking act together! Right now its like a pregnant woman getting all moody on yer ass. EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot the flash channel layout that crawls like sh*t out of a turtles arse on a computer that has already passed the best years of its life. Three flaws. 1. The comments system is terrible. 2. I thought the rating system was better with stars. 3. When you click on your channel on the top of your page, it doesn't automatically direct you to your channel. I wish they left the date the comments were posted (you have to roll over to see it now) but that's minor. Love that you can see stats for all videos. Pretty cool.
