If it's Vice City, Early 60's or Modern. Early sixties because that puts it right after the Cuban Revolution. Modern because it's the only other time that makes sense to me at the moment.

 

If it's San Andreas not just some part thereof, the Mid 60's for the Vietnam War, Counterculture, 1965 LA race riots and the downfall of Mob run casinos in Las Vegas.

 

If it's Carcer City, who knows? But my hope would be the late 60's for the fact that by that time White Flight had left most of Detroit (my opinion as to where Carcer City is) as minorities/low income households, which we know is a breading ground for crime.

i loved the full 1990's american scene, but i cant say i wouldn't like a modern day one

 

i do agree with no future set gta, unless it is set in the modern day and the time progresses slowly into the next year

I doubt it would be Carcer City for the reason that it's a Manhunt city, not a GTA city.

Carcer exists in the same world but won't appear in other games.

The city is also closer to Liberty than the capital meaning it possibly can't be Detroit.

So many to choose from! I don’t really have a stance on the issue; GTA could be set in any one of those eras, and I’ll still like it. The only real... problem, if you will, is that setting the next GTA a few decades behind will mean the cellphone system will need to be sacrificed. Not that I mind, but you know, people and change and all that mumbo jumbo.

I chose 2000-2010, meaning mainly 2010, i just like the modern day setting, so it shows us how modern day crime is like, how brutal it is e.t.c.

Same here. Modern GTA is the best i think, if the next GTA is VC i think modern Miami would be amazing, they captured the 80's Miami perfectly in the original VC.

I would prefer 2005 - 2010 . We have just started the era of 2010 - 2015 , so , we don't know what is going to happen in the next 5 years technologically , so , I don't GTA to turn into a science fiction game .

Depends on the location, if Miami for example then I'd like to see around the 80's.

 

But on the other hand, modern time gives R the opportunity to make GTA characters from earlier games to return, which I have really big hopes for. Wouldn't it be great to see Roman and Brucie gambling in Venturas for instance or maybe Yusuf

 

IV was great the way it was so I wouldn't mind modern time at all.

its gonna be a modern era game i think. but i wouldnt mind one set in the not so distant future. one of the 2d gtas was based in the future and was centered around the gangs/corporations of a dystopian city.

Modern world, would be good to see realistic lightbars (GTA IV Vector Lightbars IS realistic, just for like L.S. which could use Arjent) on the police cars (Yes, i'm obsessed with police details.) and more lights on the cars..
