The two of them are wonderfully despicable characters, aren't they? Yeah, but in totally different ways. I actually like Van Alden. Or at least I like to hate him. I'm not sure. But Danziger? The airheadedness of that woman just annoys me. If she were in interesting character, the Danziger/Van Alden mismatched-couple-pariah duo might've been interesting, but I think the show would be better of with her dying by the hands of Nelson - preferably with some religious undertones. I feel I should add that I actually enjoy Paz de la Huerta's portrayal of the character though. Reminds me of Nancy Marchand's Livia Soprano. I agree with Jimmy's reaction, I was disgusted. I predict she's gonna go the way of Nucky's wife. /wrists Totally thought it went down when Jimmy came home and asked where she was. I also really like that other lesbian chick though for sticking with her husband. That husband was a baller, 3somes and all. He took his lumps for it, but he's still a baller. I think the point of his disgust was based on the fact that when he told her about the times when he was away at war and briefly feel asleep all he could think about was pushing his face into her hair or something to that effect. It was if she missed the entire point of what he was telling her by cutting her hair. *I thought the age thing with Jimmy's mom was pretty damn clever. I still recall the opening scene a few episodes back where he returns the necklace to her and she jumps all over him like an old girlfriend and you're totally like "wtf?!" when you find out she's his mom. That's some clever writing right there. Deadwood managed to push out a season a year and it was on an even larger scale than Boardwalk Empire is as far as locations and costumes and whatnot goes. I've heard the odd news regarding casting- Jack Huston (Richard Harrow) being bumped up to a main cast member and they've cast someone as Bugsy Siegel- but nothing on filming or whatever. Also, Paz de la Huerta is in trouble for attacking some sh*tty reality TV star and could face a year in jail. They couldn't do season 2 without such a pivotal character, surely? When Sky were doing their big marketing push for Sky Atlantic earlier this year they had all these adverts for Mad men Series 5 which they boasted was being shown this summer which of course ended up being bullsh*t. I've been looking forward to it as I find a perfect autumn show. I first read about it when it was a couple of episodes into the first season; thought I'd give it a try not expecting to like it much, but I got hooked after the season opener! I just loved season 1 with simple things like character introductions/progression being something not typical in TV series but more themed for a movie setting, more subtle in nature. Just now I need to go over the last couple episodes and get a little refreshed on the last events of the first season.
