arado58
timed missions and/or missions with bars like Evidence in Tune on Tune in Bug Out in Vice City Stories, when you have to blow up the antennae on the police stations... SO ANNOYING. but gta 4 kinda got rid of a lot of those missions. In face there weren't any... Races are really annoying too, don't make them a requirement... missions that are just a cutscene and no action pest control yea thats all i have to say
Mainland Marauder
i personally dont want to see a few things 1. friends, this was just annoying when they called every 5 minutes in gta 4 Well, you could always turn the phone on sleep mode if you didn't want to get interrupted by a phone call. But as it was, it's what drove the story of IV. When you think about it, the previous GTAs were set in a time when people weren't as connected with the Internet/mobile technology as we are today, so it gave it a very modern feel and not just because it was "next gen." If the series goes "retro" again then we'll probably be back to taking calls at pay phones to trigger missions again. 2. darts, do we really need it3. bowling, ^^ The darts game-within-a-game is boring to me simply for being easy. The bowling was pretty well done. 4. the internet- howw about using a real internet browser, not an ingame Well, that would pretty much require online access just to play the game, which would kind of suck like, say, if your internet was out or something. Besides, the "fake" internet within IV was hilarious to browse and read (e.g. the "craplist" ads) 5. cops spawning everywhere, when you had a wanted level that was beyond annoying There were elements of the revamped cops/wanted system I liked, such as focusing on a given area. I'd say keep it the same except make it where you can hide to shake the heat, especially if it's just a star or two. It is kind of ridiculous when you get a star and you run into your apartment in Hove Beach and hide in that little cranny by the stairs and a cop walks in and just happens to know you're there. Basically, marry the IV wanted system with, say, the alert system of Metal Gear Solid. Bully came pretty close to pulling off what I'm talking about. Interrobangin
There are a few things about the physics that really drive me mad. One example is if you try to get into a vehicle, and the vehicle drives away—Niko or your multiplayer character begins this weird, uncontrollable waddle for several feet. What the f*ck is that? I could understand if perhaps a jet-engine plane passed him at a super speed, but if you're trying to jump into something, say, a baggage handler, I really doubt the force would be enough to have that kind of effect. Speaking of baggage handlers and physics, what about that ridiculous nap you have to have if you jump out too early? Again, I would understand if perhaps we were zooming across asphalt in a Comet and I leaped out at maximum speed, but when something as inane as a baggage handler is traveling not too much faster than walking speed, I'm sure a hardened criminal could handle it. Well, a hardened criminal or a soft nerd like myself, after my friend and I experimented with a quad bike: at what speeds we could dismount it without being incapacitated like people in IV do. Mostly we found that, from the way we were jumping off, we would land on our asses (for some reason people in the GTA universe jump out face first?), and even then we could get to our feet and walk with some degree of control much faster than Liberty City's inhabitants can. We were too scared to experiment with any higher speeds, but as I said, I can understand that stuff. Beyond that, and while there is a lot more about GTA IV I could see removed and not miss, I'm either too tired of complaining or not really bothered about it so much. crackdawg
I want the same as others in this thread do, a 30mil game title where you get to set fire engines on top of other players in MP and shoot and set fire engines on top of NPCs in missions...and nothing else. Algonquin Assassin
What I don't want that was in GTA IV. -Binoculars. Pointless feature IMO. I know they were added to make the city seem more real, but I would've much rathered a camera that could store pictures of the sights. -ATMs. Unless you can take money out of them I don't see the point of them being functional. I understand they need to be there, because cities do have ATMs, but their use needs to have a purpose. In general.... -Jetpacks. So glad these weren't in GTA IV, so I hope the trend continues. That's all for now.
Mainland Marauder
I thought the ATMs were cool..... ....when I first saw them, then I armed the baseball bat and took a crack at them only to figure out you can't bust them open and take money. If they were used for something besides checking how much money you have which is already on your HUD, then they might serve a purpose. But the jetpack in SA was awesome. As for the binoculars, what would be great is if they were an actual item you could run around with (not just for viewing at the pier) so you can scout ahead and look for enemies as you're progressing in a mission. Once again, take a little cue from Metal Gear. This doesn't mean everything should be a stealth mission, mind, but a bit of that element would be a good touch. It'd go well with the new function of being able to hide and shoot behind objects. A little strategy to spice up the usual "kill 'em all" mission is always nice, although it may be a little too "brainy" for some. Typhus
No more... - Health bar. If you get shot that should be it, you should have to go to a hospital and get patched up. - Massive shootouts. If you have to kill someone, I'd rather you have the freedom to track their movements and carry out an ambush. No more going through hundreds of goons. - Rap music, dance music, reggae music. - Disappearing bodies. Kill someone and a crowd gather round, an ambulance picks them up and takes them away. - In-game television. - 'Rags to better rags' type stories. I don't play GTA to be depressed. - Rocket launchers. - Ability to get arrested and let off the hook, or be killed and just respawn. If they're going for realism in this cannon, then they need to make death or incarceration actually mean something.

Typhus
I just always wanted to see a game that actually simulates the criminal life. Isn't that what GTA IV was trying to do? I was so happy when they said it was going to be more realistic, but when I played it I was dismayed to find that you still had the magical ability to absorb more bullets than Al Pacino after doing a mountain of coke. So, if they still want it to be realistic I reckon they should go the whole hog and show that getting shot actually means something. And that in real life you can't just carry on regardless. I thought that's the direction they wanted to take with GTA. I agree with Typhus. Especially the respawning at the hospital/getting released from prison the next day weirdness... They should just do what, for example, Fallout 3 and Oblivion did --- death equals game over + but it works because you can save anywhere, and you can have as many saves as your HD can hold Besides, almost every time I died during a mission I'd just reload the last save (since I saved after every mission). ----------------------------------------------- As for what I want removed. Friends, girlfriends, boring minigames, darts, and the internet. Virtual (and uninteractive) girlfriends are a waste of time and resources. Screw Craplist and the whole fake (and uninteractive) internet! That disc space should have been used to make the police AI more realistic and smart! mubd
I hated the old wanted system in the old GTAs, plainly because you didn't have an idea of when your wanted level would be gone. In GTA 4, you could drive outside of the wanted level and wait 3 or 4 seconds for the level to go. I seriously don't want a different wanted level system. Go look at all the others. Yes they do want realism, but the majority of the consumers of their titles post SA aren't sandbox type game focused. Combat and racing game type players have short attention spans and want immediate action without having to think much. They cut about 60% of the game mechanics implemented in SA in later titles because of this. It's so ridiculous you can obfuscate text by making posts here longer than one paragraph. vincentmillidge
i dont mind friends you just shouldnt loose out on stuff if you dont go out with them. thats whats sh*t about it. i want 1 an improved system for the law enforcers (too much respawning), better cop AI in general 2 no more little kids on multiplayer 3 a return for the flame thrower, an improved weapons selection 4 the sometimes grey realism of IV (its still the best one) toned down and the return of a slightly more warped sense of reality (all you 'go play saints row then' goons have such a non argument gta and saints row are worlds apart and should never be compared) 5 an improved armed/unarmed fighting system. (occasionally hit someone with a well timed right hook knocking them clean out, the ability to dive and shoot) 6 an improvement in the number of enterable buildings 7 an improvement on the AI and variety of the peds with more possibilities for interaction 8 an improvement in the general atmosphere/ happenings/scenarios of the city and its inhabitants.(i want to see roberies and kidnappings and gangland violence, police brutality, drug dealing, pimping, vandalism, police chases, lone gunmen, more car accidents, suicide attempts, hysteria around a celebrity with screaming fans, paparazzi body gaurds etc) 9 a major overhaul of the Multiplayer modes( co-op co-op co-op) Edited March 14, 2010 by vincentmillidge
RomanViking
IV wasn't that unrealistic but the episodes sometimes got out of control like the last mission "get lost" in TLAD. So basically no unrealistic missions nor story. Is that the storming the prison level? I agree it should be realistic; but it also needs those insane moments. I feel that a realistic approach would make the insane moments have more impact and intensity. For example; the bank robbery in GTA IV is not unlike that Heat movie. But GTA still lacks really good controls, and AI. So it's not nearly as real or entertaining to play Three Leaf Clover than it is to watch that movie scene.. woody242
Why are people having a go at the GTAIV story? So what you didnt get to live in a big mansion, its not as if its youre going to live in a mansion yourself. Any way, Jetpacks way too much ATM's, pointless Friends im alright with as long as you can only hang out with them if YOU call them. The ak-47 and M4, seriously those have been the only two assault rifles for ages. If GTAV is in america modern day then fair enough but I would like to see them to add some more, maybe an assault rifle with single fire or three round burst fire. GTA isnt for tactical planning or getting arested for running over a red light. I for one, like games like Hitman, just dont mix them up with GTA! Then what is GTA for? Having retarded, mostly frustrating shootouts? Getting a high wanted level and getting steamrolled by 20 cop cars in a horribly aggravating clusterf*ck? Listening to the humorous radio? I for one, think that they perfected that "raw" and wildly unrealistic concept with GTAIII. I feel that the series should move forward, with good AI and high production levels during all moments of gameplay. GTA IV seemed to have some good ideas, better physics and graphics, mildly improved AI, and decent gunplay --- but it still seemed to cling to quantity over quality. Individual missions were badly designed and often boring or even frustrating. And it's because they tried to make too many. Essentially, they should stop trying to create a 50 to 70 hour long game, and focus more on just creating a good game. Let the story decide what the missions are! GTA IV just had a lot of random, unrelated missions just happening out of nowhere... Shootouts would just happen and there would be faceless, nameless goons to kill, and there was no consequence or reaction when a whole warehouse of mafia thugs were murdered... A shootout with people you actually knew would have more impact than a shootout with 20 anonymous/generic thugs --- often all just to steal a car or somethin... Lazy Squirrel PT
What's wrong with the internet? If you want to use the real internet just use your computer. They really need to start work on Hitman 5. And cloning is a very interesting concept I think, it's usually just not portrayed very well in many films and stuff, so... And "the ultimate killing machine/soldier" is a widely used idea in many movies and games man I can't think of what i don't want in the next GTA, what i do want is a different story. I think Matt21 just... /thread I'd say they should remove all the "filler" that was present in GTA IV. Either remove it, or make it fun and interactive. Like when Niko has conversations with Roman, I would have liked some dialog choices. Real basic interaction, rather than just listening to what they say... Going on dates with Michelle was pointless, as you couldn't even interact with her either... Either create a dating sim, or drop the feature altogether, Rockstar! A completely uninteractive sequence where you drive somewhere and listen to some unremarkable dialog followed by "these kinds of places remind me of where I grew up" followed by blackness followed by "I'm such a pig" followed by more driving followed by cartoony sounding, off-screen sex... it's boring man, BORING.
