Rebel
I might try this but i dont know am not sure. You'll have a hard trouble trying to get involved in this if you don't live in the US. Since in the opening text that its only available in the US right now.
tubbs51
*Jaw hits ground* sorry guys i gotta change my pants now i cant afford to buy a good computer every few years so if OnLive is successful then i'll be buying awesome PC games like Civilization, Sims 3, maybe even GTA IV i hope this works out cause i hate my current computer. it barely runs the sims 3 while nothing is on it at the time
reuter.carsten
Will work if the price is right
McReary7772
Sorry if this is a stupid question but what exactly is this
james227uk
Basically, you connect to a dedicated PC and play the game on that through your internet connectiion. Your computer's specs will not matter, since you're playing it on a dedicated PC some miles away. How they'll combat the lag is beyond me though
Potato Boggle
Mega bump Does anyone else have this yet? I signed up and got a years worth of subscription for free( still have to pay for games though). I'm playing some demos and I'm barley having any control lag, it's amazing. The demos are 30 minutes of the full game. Anyways I'm off to play some Just cause 2 demo. Edited July 4, 2010 by ozzman1

Potato Boggle
What is the picture quality like though? It's not too bad for being streamed to you from somewhere miles away.
NinjaWJ
wow thats kinda cool though but the controller looks really weird. i hope people with slow internet like me can also benefit
AmyJones
What kind of connection do you use? Oh, and one more thing. do you have to use that silly ass controller? that won't do with some PC games. not for me anyways. Potato Boggle
What kind of connection do you use? Here's my internet speed test During the day it's about 5 MB/s EDIT: I'm uploading a short video to youtube but it's going to take for ever to upload so I'll post it tomorrow EDIT 2: Here's the video. Watch in HD! EDIT 3: No you don't have to use a controller on the PC. The controller is for a thing they will have that plugs into your router and TV. OysterBarron
Ok so onlive is now avaliable in the uk and ive just got back from testing a few releases! First up was tropico 4 allthough the game is sound and runs fine quality of the video feed is horrendous! i then tried metro 2033 witch was a different experience alltogether, while playing thru i accumilated observers and was getting cheered on by them while i played the single player story it was quite enjoyable! The service seems very responsive no noticable lag, the only thing that lets it down at the moment is the inability to go over 30fps tropico was very playable but shooting in metro 2033 was lets say not the best experience! All in all im impressed its a weird experience to just click on a game like you would a youtube video and have it boot strait up! The service has some serious potential it needs to concentrate on video quality to improve overall game quality!
Andrew
It does indeed have potential, however their pricing is rather arcane from what I last heard. Pay per mouth for the server, and still have to buy the game? That is a bit strange to me. Video quality will improve when internet connections do. OysterBarron
apparently you can trial games for free! 6.99 a month gives you access to a unlimited playpack of 100+ games plus 30% off all game purchases! they list dues Ex for £44 when you compare to steam prices for actually having the game on your hdd and better graphics i think they need to take a long look at prices! Andrew
Suppose trailing isn't bad, but why would anyone want to pay 6.99 a month, then still pay £30 - £40 for a game? I'd much rather spend the extra on the physical copy, or spend money upgrading the PC to run games, or on the next console. £44 for deus ex, it will fail if they charge extreme prices, and they've got the gaming market all wrong for who is going to use online, it's casual gamers who play the game once and get rid of it or never play it again. OysterBarron
No way at the moment is this a replacement to your high end desktops! I think the platform itself is more aimed at people using windows 95 and haven't got the hundreds of pounds for a new machine lying about! For people with high end machines like you say trialing games would be its main use, but even then you wouldn't be able to get a feel for what it would run like on a system with your specs if looking to buy! hopefully in the future this will be an excellent service but its no steam replacement yet! The thing i most liked was the observer part even though i was only going through cut scenes with a little bit of game-play i had 6 observers cheering me on felt like i was putting on a show livestreaming. King Mystery
That controller is sexy. Anyways, it's a pretty cool concept. I'm just curious as to if it actually works as well as it sounds.

OysterBarron
i think its optional or supplied when subscribing Price plans are not listed particular well on the site! I think that is if you havent got a pc and are just running thru a TV

Bernard Jazz
Just tried borderlands, it's playable but the slight delay between pressing a button and the action being processed really doesn't lend itself well to action games. Once you get used to it then you'll be able to play it very efficiently but for the time being I prefer playing it on my own hardware.
