I'd say it does take 18GB. Afterall it has everything & more that GTA IV had.

It should be 15-17GB's.

The DLC versions of each individual episodes are 2 GB each. Prehaps you should go with the DLC version instead.

Since most PC's now a days come with 320+GB Hard drives, then 10-15GB really isn't all that much space. Even when you use programs like Fraps, for example, those videos take up like 2+GB of space per video(for a 3-4 minute video). For people that have older PC's with only 40-100GB hard drives, then a simple solution would be to un-install IV and that would net 16-18 GB of extra space, or un-install programs you haven't used in a while to gain disk space. Also, emptying the Recycle Bin will help regain disc space. If you have a newer PC, then really the only reason to look at that part is to help get an idea of how long it will take to install. If you have a small hard drive, then you should not get the PC version and get the PS3/X-Box version instead, then you would not need to worry about the disc space used. Just a heads up/my two cents.

But, I doubt it will take that much space, as the TLAD and TBOGT have smaller storylines and less "side" jobs then IV had. Just my guess, it will probably only be around 5GB like SA was.

no actually space is not actually a realy problem.. i had many games in my 250Gb hard drive hehe.. anyway can this be possible that EFLC will just install DLCs if u have the gta 4 and not nstall the core files?? well if it is not possible then ok tooo.. as i will manage thaht much GB... i cant even download those DLCs because of one main reason - Slow internets in India

I'm thinking most likely that EfLC will just install over the current IV files. That was the whole reason for the latest patch. So if the launcher detects IV files, it will give you the option to launch the IV story, along side the Episodes, otherwise it would only show the Episodes.

I don't think it is possible to do it that way, because what if you don't have IV installed on your PC? You would not have any patches, nor any IV files. Plus the EFLC is on a disc, seperate from IV, and it is not possible to have 2 discs in one dvd drive, so you would not be able to launch IV without having to take the EFLC disc out and putting the IV disc in-unless you have the Steam version, which does not require a disc to play. Or am I missing something here? confused.gif

Like I said, install over. Basically, lets say you have the filestructure like so: (Not actual files or structure BTW.)

  • IV installed folder\
  • ..\GTALauncher.exe
  • ..\GTAIV.exe
  • ..\GTAIVscript.sct
  • ..\GTAIVmodels.img

What I think EfLC would do is install a new Launcher, a new main executable, and then EfLC specific models and scripts files. So, if you installed just EfLC, without having IV installed, the files from above would be like so:

  • IV installed folder\
  • ..\GTALauncher.exe (EfLC Version)
  • ..\GTAIV.exe (EfLC Version)
  • ..\GTAEfLCscript.sct
  • ..\GTAIVmodels.img
  • ..\GTAEfLCmodels.img

Or if you installed EfLC ontop of IV, it would be something like this:

  • IV installed folder\
  • ..\GTALauncher.exe (EfLC Version)
  • ..\GTAIV.exe (EfLC Version)
  • ..\GTAIVscript.sct
  • ..\GTAEfLCscript.sct
  • ..\GTAIVmodels.img
  • ..\GTAEfLCmodels.img

In this case, the new GTALauncher.exe would be written in a way to detect what .SCT files are in the folder, and present these as your game options. (Much like Morrowind's launcher.)

The only problem would be if you had EfLC installed, and tried to install IV afterwords, in which case you would end up with the IV version of the Launcher and GTAIV.exe (In this simplified example). So in that case, you would probably end up with 2 full installs, in 2 different folders, taking up the maximum space.

Obviously, the EfLC disc would end up patching your game to the latest version before installing. This isn't an issue, expansions do it all the time. (See Elder Scrolls, Fallout)

As far as discs go, I would assume that if you want to play the EfLC content, you would insert that disc, and if you want to play IV, you insert that one. That would be the case if it didn't work the way I have outlined above anyway. Besides, the only file on the disc it needs to run is the one that says the disc is in the drive. Realistically, once the game is installed, there is no real need for the disc anymore, except the need to check that you actually own the content. There is also a possibility that IV would be able to run using the disc check on EfLC.

(Needless to say, I've done some programing in my day. cool.gif)

Here's a question. You think the official gta 4 launcher can be used for EFLC? No need for DVD in the computer than.
