Cojage
So I finished the first season of The Wire. This show is SO good, I can't go back to other shows now, hahaha. Now I have to stop watching all current shows I follow like 24, because it just looks so fake. Ima gonna watch the rest of The Wire instead. Anyone else loves this show? ryuclan
The wire is amazing. My friend used to get on my nerves talking about it before I saw it myself. When I finally saw it I understood why he was so adament about the show. It's amazing. Gritty, real, and amazingly complex.
CLoWnnSkuLL
It is pretty good. I'm still watching it and season two would have to be my favourite so far.
Fnorg
If anyone remembers from the old topic, I sort of was negative towards season four and its new element. Well, I was dead wrong. Season four was amazing, even better than my ol' favorite season two. The kids really came into it mid-season, amazing performances all round. What happened to Duquan and Michael was really tragic. I've just started with season five, and I'm not sure how I feel about the serial killer plot and the introduction of the Baltimore Sun. I'm waiting for the ultimate showdown between Omar and Marlo's crew, with the murder of Butchie and with Prop Joe out of the image. And the Greek being back opens up for new interesting plot lines. Btw, is there even anyone left from the old Barksdale organization? Poot's MIA and Bodie's dead and the rest were killed off in season one and two. It's amazing how much the show has evolved since season one. Anyway, yeah, great show. Definitely one of the best, if not the best I've seen. 3minty3
Coincidence or what I finished season 1 a few days ago. About 3 quarters of the way through season 2. I wasnt to sure about season 2 to begin with, with a completely new setting. However the new characters and "system" are as good as the first. Definitely one of my favourite shows. I just hope the rest of the seasons are as good as the first two.
epoxi
When people make the claim "Literally the best show of all time", as has been done by you and many big newspapers, I would expect the show to be of a high standard but would never expect to give it the absolute seal of approval. That said however, I agree that The Wire is catagorically the best TV Series ever created and any serious drama should aspire to emulate it. I also agree with Cojage that watching any other serial becomes so uncomfortable because of how synthetic they are. Unfortunately, to be perfectly executed the show had to end before it lost its charm, I was devastated when I realised the fifth series was the last. I could totally watch every episode again though. Also: My favourite theme tune was season 4's: Edited March 14, 2010 by epoxi

Poot's MIA and Bodie's dead and the rest were killed off in season one and two. It's amazing how much the show has evolved since season one. Most of them are dead or in prison by Season 5, I think Slim Charles is the only one still to regularly feature towards the end, although he's working for Prop Joe in the final two seasons. Avon Barksdale himself and Poot also make small appearances in Season 5. The Barksdale crew is pretty much gone after Season 3. But yeah, such a great show. Ever since I finished the series, I'm having serious trouble finding shows that match up to it.

Season four was amazing, even better than my ol' favorite season two. My old topic!? Yes, I remember. I just finished season 4. Altough my problem was that it was a sop/start season for me. I got out of my swing of watching it cause I fell asleep during an episode (not The Wire's fault). Caus I'm watching it with my g/f I didn't want to go watch the next episode without seeing all of the last. One week turned into two..etc and it was ages since I watched it. Probably around the time of the last topic. Anyway, I just finished 4 and it was great. BTW, looking back, I loved season 2. Really personal sort of season. People out of the poverty line being crooked and greedy. Unlike the the kids brought up in the Game in Baltimore's lower class. Cojage
Oh wow, I just finished Season 2 in like a week, can't stop watching The Wire. In the beginning it was very diffirent than the first season but later it was actually better than Season 1. Hope Season 3 is as good as the first two, but I heard Season 4 was the best. Probably gonna finish Season 3 in like a week again if it's as good I now can say for sure that this is the best show I've ever seen.
Otter
Finally tore through it all - loved it! What a great show. Easy to draw some comparisons to The Shield (which I think I actually liked better) but a very different sort of serial drama. Some amazing performances and characters (Omar - easily one of the coolest criminals in a long while) and it really opened my eyes to the tangled web of the city all working together, for better or for worse. Also, I find that drug culture to absolutely horrifying. Senseless murder is something Canadians don't have to deal with on a daily basis.
Canofceleri
Canada actually has the highest rate of homicide and gun violence in the world, Otter. And actually, you're a psycho murderer. I started to watch some episodes on demand, but the aspect ratio was altered so I didn't keep going. Seemed interesting. I always find the 'what's better, wire or sopranos?' debate interesting, mostly because I couldn't imagine any TV drama being superior to The Sopranos. (Not trying to open up that can of worms here, by the way). At any rate, I guess any show held in the same esteem as The Sopranos is a show I might have interest in. Fnorg
I finished watching the show three weeks ago. It was all for nothing, everything just circled back to the way it was back in season one. Someone vacates a position, someone else fills it (Michael/Omar, Stinger Bell/Marlo Stanfield, Joe/guy whose name I can't remember). At least the road to leading to the end was sweet, 5 seasons of pure quality. Oh, and Bubbles' end... Now I'll be moving on to The Sopranos and finishing The Shield. Otter
Hahah, love the signature. Yeah, it was quite depressing how everything becomes just more of the same, but very telling and true at the same time. You'll love the end of The Shield. Probably one of the best series' endings I've ever seen.

Fnorg
What is the Wire about i never watched but i have heard of it, is it about street gangs or organized crime?? Both, actually. But there's no Italian mobsters in there. @Otter: I think I've spoiled too much of The Shield for myself (pretty sure that Shane dies, and I know Vic goes to trial about the Crowley thing). The only thing that I haven't totally spoiled is Dutch's teenage serial-killer-to-be thing. Pretty stoked about that. And of course then there's the twists and turns with Aceveda and the black box and Claudette's lupus left, Vic and his wife and their kids and all those minorer (lesser?) things left. I'm still pretty hyped up about it all even though I screwed myself on the big things.
Otter
You're close, but not spoiled. I wish I could go back and watch it again for the first time. And, I think it's about time Dutch got his own f*cking show.
Fnorg
That would be a tough watch. Ever since he offed that cat I've seen him as a weird pervert every time he talked to any woman. Like 4chan-kind of weird pervert. I sorta expect him to be a serial killer, too. Maybe I thought of him like that even before the catastrophe, but I can't remember. Also, I love Billings. It took me ages to find out where I recognized him from, it was that show about that mountie. That brought back a wave of memories. And to stay on topic, has anyone listened to the soundtrack? I've fallen in love with "Efuge Efuge" and "The Fall" and some various rap songs and the last exchange of words between Dukie and Michael is soo touching. Canofceleri
I'm five episodes into the first season and I'm loving it. When that black Lieutenant instructs that guy on how to lie about hitting that 14 year old, heavy sh*t.
Fnorg
Funny thing, I was thinking about just that scene with Prezbo, Carver and Elliot yesterday. I thought to myself "My, things sure have changed" like they were real people or something. It's not really fun, but I guess a testament on how the show affected me. dills
Savino (who shot Kima in Season 1) joins the Stanfield crew in Series 5...but then he's shot by Omar. Savino set Kima and Orlando up, it was Little Man who shot her and as a result, was killed himself by Wee Bey. I just finished watching The Wire and loved every minute of it. There were some excellent characters in it that were so intriguing and enthralling that I was always looking forwards to the next episode. It's definitely one of the best TV shows I've seen.
