Garfield 2
Can anyone tell me what are the fonts used in GTA IV in subtitles? Also they're used in the tutorials. Thanks!
Garfield 2
I think it's similar to Arial but it's not it. Anyone?
theGANNER
Couldnt find a good cutscene screenshot with subtitles. Not 100% sure about the subtitles but try searching for the "Helvetica Neue" font family. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=440595 Captain_Obvis posted a big screenshot of a pc lobby on site 1. In this picture its clearly "Helvetica 77 Bold Condensed". If this one is too condensed for your version (could be different from pc to console) try "Helvetica Neue 85 Heavy". Does anybody know if the pc version uses pre-installed (already existing) fonts from your computer? Edited March 11, 2010 by theGANNER

mubd
The subtitles are DIN 1451. Proof?
theGANNER
The subtitles are DIN 1451.Proof? Looks like "DIN 1451 Mittelschrift Alternate". If you cant find it you can use "DIN Medium" instead. So Rockstar is using a typeface that is over 70 years old. Its origin goes back to 1906. But it sounds plausible, its one of the best readable typos in the world. Where is your screenshot from then? Doesnt look like in-game graphic.

theGANNER
I typed it up in photoshop with DIN 1451 Mittelschrift (at least that's how I think it's spelt). Yepp, thats how you spell it. Its german. Nice Photoshop work. Is this letter-spacing/tracking the same in-game? Looks a bit too tight. Would be better if the letters had a little more space between them. The letters are standing a bit too close together if you ask me. So, can anybody post a good screenshot of the in-game subtitles? Would be great to have a closer look. mubd
The subtitles are in the same position as this: Apologies for stuffing the page up.
theGANNER
The subtitles are in the same position as this: Apologies for stuffing the page up. Ah, ok. Thanks for the screenshot. Your photoshop typo looked a bit too tight because the black outline had a very high contrast on the plain white background. After looking at the in-game screenshot I have to say that it could be "DIN Medium Alternate". You cant really tell if the dots ("." + " i") are square or round. In "Jarmaine" it looks round. In "St." it looks rather square.
