DRMetzger
I can't be the only one that basically needs a push to talk button in order to use their mic in MP or at least prefers it to an open mic so I thought I would share my findings after a while of looking around. Its a script for use with autohotkey that effectively mutes the mic unless a particular key(v in the example) is held down. Tested it in game for a bit and it definitely works. Mikuzz made the push-to-talk script here at the bottom of the thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/show...=1092660&page=2 The program is here: http://www.autohotkey.com/ If you don't know the device # of your mic you can get it using the soundcard analysis script bottom of the page here: http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/SoundSet.htm Not sure if the issue mentioned with Vista still exists but I'm using 7 x64 and its working fine as a general Push-To-Talk button, just wish I found that script sooner. The script OnExit, ExitSub SoundSet, 1, MICROPHONE, MUTE, 2 return $v:: SoundSet, 0, MICROPHONE, MUTE, 2 Send v KeyWait, v SoundSet, 1, MICROPHONE, MUTE, 2 return ExitSub: SoundSet, 0, MICROPHONE, MUTE, 2 ExitApp You can have autohotkey generate the default script when you first start it up then paste the above into it. the number at the end is the only one that might need to change depending on your system, I have 7.1 speaker setup and my mic was sound device 4 for example but the soundcard analysis will give you the number for you or there is always trial and error. For the lines $v:: Send v KeyWait, v v= key to hold to unmute mic. EDIT: Also it appears to override function for the key altogether in-game so make sure you don't use a button already mapped (but you can still type the letter in chat). DRMetzger
Damn sorry for responding so late didn't realize anyone said anything back, just looked it up to set up on my new Mobo, to tell if its working you can go into anything that will show you the mic levels and you should see nothing unless you are holding the button("V" in the example). If that isn't working you will want to back up your other script, and paste the Soundcard Analysis script, over your old script and choose "reload this script" after you save, then you should get a popup with all the correct device numbers on your sound card. Then all you have to do is take the number of your microphone and replace the "2"'s in the script with that number copy it back into the documents folder, reload it and it should be good. Fell free to send a PM if you want with further questions EDIT: also I think you might have to tap the key just to initiate it but it will be on from then on and make sure you replace the default script completely, forget what it is and it might not screw with anything but butter off removing it.
