Mati
Hey guys, I have a hard decision to make; LA Noire or Portal 2? I believe LA Noire will have a much longer gameplay, but Portal 2 is... well, Portal 2. Help?
Kimd41
Those are two pretty different games there. While I can say that Portal 2's storyline are Co-op are epic, it doesn't have much replayability. I don't know about LA Noire, it hasn't been released yet.
FullMetal
Those are two pretty different games there. While I can say that Portal 2's storyline are Co-op are epic, it doesn't have much replayability. I don't know about LA Noire, it hasn't been released yet. Valve's extra free content dog, and custom chambers 'n shiyeet. But the last part is only possible if you're going for the PC version. Portal 2 Co Op ending was... rather... f*cked up if you ask me. I'm not sure what's next but I have this very odd interpretation from it. GLADOS IS STILL A f*ckING PSYCHO. Yeah, that's pretty much it
Mati
I think I'm buying LA Noire first. Both are amazing games with legendary developers but LA Noire is not linear (I hope) and (I hope) it is much longer.
[SM]CJZera
I just added you, Pear, that's the good news, the bad news is... I'm going to be late by around 1-2 hours... Preject for a contest around september always takes time on monday :v Edited May 9, 2011 by [SM]CJZera

d0mm2k8
Both are amazing games with legendary developers Although Rockstar make some good games, they are no where close to Valve as an overall developer. That's not just because I'm a PC gamer.

Robinski
I'd say it was a reasonable choice either way. I know little about LA Noire, but from reputation and what I do know I can imagine that R* are going to provide a large amount of content. Whereas with Portal 2, there isn't actually that much the way of enjoyable replay gameplay. I know I finished it and haven't really touched it since. While I'm sure LA Noire will be very good, I know it won't hold up to the quality of Portal 2 for me, because it's pretty much the most polished game I've ever played. I'd look at it like going to an expensive restaurant. The choice is between the tiny plate of exquisite food cooked by that famous chef you like, or a big plate of food cooked by the still very good chef that always works at the restaurant. Nobody would be able to legitimately criticise either decision, but I know I'd prefer to sit quietly while everyone else finishes off, content in the knowledge that I had a better time. Of course, I could be talking out of my arse having not played LA Noire. It could be literally the best game ever.
Ash_735
Wow, just finished the game now, bloody brillaint, ending song is actually better than Still Alive, but I doubt it'll be remembered as such. Storyline wise, the whole Cave Johnson and Caroline thing was actually pretty sad.
papanesta
Little bump for a heart wrenching translation. Don't bother clicking this if you haven't finished the game! "Portal 2 Easter egg guide: 30 secrets and references you may have missed" Video at the top, then read the rest. Don't think much of this was posted before. Does mostly confirm my previous theories, though, so even if it was, I'll post it.
Voodoo
This is relative to my interests. Half-Life 3 Code Found In Portal 2 Mod Tools? Code lines include references to shooting, targeting, use of shields and something called an "avalanche blast" and "spit attack". Well well well. The 'npc_combine_advisor' code is more to add to the Advisor enemy theory, and the 'base_helicopter' could refer to the helicopter Alyx and Gordon were going to take to Mossman. Oh yeah. Vercetti27
Is Portal 2 difficult ? I'm not really into puzzle games but I heard its really good. I'm thinking of getting this before LA Noire
Robinski
Not really. Well once you get the feel for portals and how they work that is. I would recommend you get the first game first though, because while the second introduces you pretty well to portals and everything if you're going in with the knowledge from the first it'll be a lot easier. If you ask around enough places you'll be able to pick it up for free too probably. Valve gave away a copy of Portal with every PC pre-order of number 2. I'd bet there's still thousands of unused copies just lying in people's Steam gift boxes.

Vercetti27
thanks, but I'm on PS3. cheapest going are preowned at £35 a pop. Does the game last long?
Robinski
If you've never played portal it'll probably be a bit longer, but what I'm seeing as the average play time (myself included) for single player is about 8 hours, and similar for co-op. But they're both pretty subjective. However you look at it though, you aren't going to get that much play time out of the game, especially considering once you know how to do a puzzle it's lost its magic forever. It may be short though, but I'll be damned if it isn't one of the finest games out there.

CharmingCharlie
Thought I would post this just for the "lulz" there is a controversy about Portal 2 breaking in America (oh where else) regarding Portal 2. I can't really explain too much about it because it would potentially spoil the game. However a parent is complaining about something Wheatley says towards the end of the game. Apparently according to the parent their 10 year old child became upset when Wheatley said "Alright, fatty. Adopted fatty. Fatty, fatty no parents". If you want to see more about this "story" then click the link :- http://www.gamerevolution.com/manifesto/pa...n-portal-2-5755 Words cannot express just how "oh for f*ck sake" this story actually is. There has been no word from Valve on this yet, I can only assume that is down to the fact they are all rolling on the floor f*cking laughing their arse off at the pure idiocy of this. [SM]CJZera
Oh god... That just made my day... I mean, the girl obviously didn't care... And besides, didn't GLaDOS make a worse orphan joke much earlier? The Lolwut Pear
Seriously? She could GlaDOS direct insults but she couldn't take Wheatley's moronic attempts to copy it? Also, Zera, stop f*cking with me and get on Steam so we can finish co-op. Edited May 18, 2011 by The Lolwut Pear
mrpain
So I finally got my hands on my Portal 2. Having played the Half-Life games and have never even touched Portal 1, I had no idea what to expect. Well this game just blew my mind. Portals are so damn fun! There are some puzzles that are quite difficult but fun nonetheless. Co-Op is more fun than Single-Player. Reached Chapter 7 in single player. Wheatley is my favourite character, I wish I had him as my doorstep. But I was pissed when he turned into the game's big ol villian. And GLADoS on a potato? Brilliant. Also, what the f*ck is a RatMan?
