AnthMUFC-Champs
About 5 years ago Rockstar registered a few trademark names on Christmas Eve, these were Bogota, Tokyo, Sin City, GTA V and GTA VI. What this topic is all about is Bogota and would GTA benefit being set there and what does the city bring to the GTA franchise. All i know is that it is the capital of Columbia and is known for its massive amount of crime and corruption.
macorules94
I remember reading an interview with some R* developer, in 2007, and he said the GTA after IV will be set in Bogota.
SammiiDoogles
Not sure this would be the next GTA, but this topic isn't neccessarily debating that. I will say though that it looks like a very interesting city, and looks amazing at night.
SilentSeas
It wouldn't be my ideal location but I suppose it could work. @ SammiiDoogles: I agree, it does look spectacular when lit up.

DanManUtd
I don't think we'd be able to get past the language barrier tbh (I know that it sound hypocritical of me to say so since a lot of GTA players don't speak English), because the majority of GTA's fans and Rockstar itself speak English. But why don't we just make them speak English? Then what's the point? We know none of Bogota's landmarks or districts. It would basically be the Hispanic parts of LA. WF the Hobgoblin
I recall an article way back when a R* developer said GTA VI was going to be set in Arrakeen, Arrakis. Don't have a link though, it was back in 2005 or 06. Some people here thought that Bogota was going to be the name of the new Vice City / Florida gta. "I don't like f*ckin' Colombians, alright?" Writing "no" twice accidentally isn't really grammar. Writing "Know" for "No" is btw how the hell do you get 87Mbps with Telstra?
Algonquin Assassin
I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I didn't even know where Bogota was unitl this thread. I have heard the of the name before. Just didn't know where the city was. I'm all up for a new, and fresh place, but I hope R* choose something a bit more familiar with the general world population of GTA gamers. If GTA Next takes place in Bogota I bet most people wouldn't have a clue what real life city it's trying to portray.
Nova69_7
Bogota would, in all honestly be a nice refreshing change of pace as a location for a GTA title. Who cares about the language barrier, we'd suppose to be in an unusual, foreign place and I think that would just add to the atmosphere in the game. I'd definately like to see a GTA:Bogota in the future.
AnthMUFC-Champs
Maybe as a side game like GTA CTW?
Guanxi
Don't mean to offend any Colombians here but it is what it is and there's no point in sugar-coating it [get it]: Bogota is a just one of many running jokes in the series like 'twinning' Liberty City with Beirut for example. Any way you look at it - it has automatic connotations associated with it when you hear it like Bangkok or Rio for example, such as sex tourism, poverty, endemic widespread corruption, the drugs trade, people & organ trafficking, etc. Whenever they namedrop any of these outrageously dangerous places in this vein in the same breath as their own generally for comic effect it's just to give you a picture of how dangerous, e.g. Vice City, etc is in a lighthearted way and then hopefully you'll begin to make the same mental connections with their cities by association. That's not to say that there will never be a GTA set in South America but if ever it's certainly going to be a long long way off. I don't have anything against Bogota as a future GTA location and it offers some good potential as it's been largely untouched by Hollywood but the city itself doesn't appear to be all that remarkable and then cultural/language barriers are still a big question mark. At any rate I'm still expecting Vice City, but hoping for London and these cities both have quite sizeable hispanic populations so it could play a minor role in this way. e.g. a Colombian tourist in London. If Bogota is next, what are you going to do. There is a big chance it is. no theres not? there no evidence pointing to bogota, especially not as many as VC. and anyway, sure many people on this site wouldnt mind, but plenty of average people would buy the game, say "WHAT THE f*ck, THIS IS STUPID" and return it. i personally see no gain in a game that completely centers around one topic in a location with almost no flexibilty. lol most people couldnt even tell you where bogota is. rockstar would easily get much more money if gta was based in VC, SA, maybe London(maybe), or some other commonly known, diverse population place. but columbias population is like 99% columbian. not too much diversity there
