personally, i thought the friend system was pretty useless and quite annoying in GTA IV. Sure, rockstar was aiming for realism in GTA IV, but do we really need them someone constantly calling you to go bowling or something else stupid? and do we really need virtual friends in a crime game? its not the sims people. its GRAND THEFT AUTO.

Well, I can't say I disagree with the fact that they were annoying as f*ck, but I still liked the feature.

Always only started to use it after completing the story.

I liked the friend system because it made the character feel like a real person and not just someone going out and killing people without ever making good friends with someone, yeah it was pretty useless once you got the rewards but it was good and i think it should stay

 

I always use sleep mode when i'm busy or if they call i agree and then call back and cancel, it doesn't affect your friend like % it is annoying to have to do this to get out of hanging with friends so it should be an option at the start of the game in GTA 5 whether you want to be a loner or have friends.

Yes, but keep it strictly optional. From what I've heard (could be wrong; I'm still waiting for March 30), this is exactly what Rockstar did with The Lost and Damned. There are times where the last thing I want to hear is "Hey Niko, it's Roman! Let's go bowling!" And if you turn on Sleep Mode, it stops the story because you can't get calls for missions. It's a good idea in theory, but it could be implemented much better.

I think it could be improved if you cold hang with more than one at a time, go out on the town as a gang, stroll down the street like the rat pack or reservoir dogs.

I always wanted to hang out with more than 1 person, like Roman and Brucie (what a nightmare )

The friend feature was good, but it needs a lot of changes to be considered perfect, or even great.

1. Why cant I just hang out, why do I need to be eating, drinking, bowling dart playing, Why can’t I just “Hang out”!

2. Why cant I only “date” one friend of the time, why cant I drive around with both Roman and Brucie , or LJ and Packie.

3. Who goes bowling 5 days a week?

4. Why can’t they pick me up? Why cant they drive?

5. Why cant my real friends, play as my in game friends? (a great way to introduce CO-OP)

6. Why are my friends so stupid? (More of a AI problem, but still!)

I think instead of specific activities you should just be able to call them as backup and they will fight with you while doing activities with you at the same time. The jobs you can get from friends should be endless, too. Even if you complete the 10 levels you should be able to repeat them for fun and extra cash. I was pissed when I found out I could only do 10 street races for Brucie until he cut me off. Bullsh*t.

I wouldn't mind seeing the friends system returning as long as they don't require so much attention. I found it annoying in IV when friends moaned that I didn't see them often enough.

You could do more then 10 races. You got a trophy/achievement when you did your 30th.
