Wow...this is the hardest mission pack! I'm working on mission #3. You really do take dyom to the limits.

Why, thank you lol.gif

Thanks, I enjoyed making this Act (once I got passed the first mission of it lol, I hated making that one due to the bugs I had with it). I think this is the least buggiest Act yet, mind you, I actually kept several things simple. I reduced the amount of actors using routes, that, and I also know how to prevent route bugs now. And I made sure I hid actors and cars that weren't needed anymore.

I did try out innovations with timeouts, objects and weather changes. Like with the missile launching in the first mission, or the massive explosion towards the end of the third Act. I like how it all turned out, I was expecting it to be a bit more sketchy, but its actually very smooth and effective.

Act IV isn't going to be a huge innovative feast. It'll still be awesome and carefully crafted, there are going to be a few surprise twists in the story still, but since Act IV is where loose ends are tied, and peace finally starts to descend again, there isn't a demand for a huge epic explosion-fest or anything like that. Still, I'm not sure how it's going to turn out yet. We'll see...

Like what? I spend a lot of time doing punctuation and such, but I was really pressed for time making this installment. Tell me which missions need corrections and I'll go and edit the text.

At the missions 3rd and 4th missions. I said typing mistake but they're not very very big mistakes. Usually like this:

anthony. See you at the other side of this mess.

I mean there are "." instead of ":" and sometimes names start with little letters.

Alright, that's usually because I quickly type the text in the program, and since DYOM doesn't allow you to type ":" I type "." instead to make sure I don't run out of characters per objective. Then I use Notepad++ to edit the text.

I'll go back and correct them now. Judging by the lack of bug reports, except for the parachute bug (which I have offered several solutions for and attempted to fix several times), I guess I can make this update the last one before Act IV comes out.

Help on the parachute bug can found in the readme/manual that comes with this mod, on the first post of this thread, and on the GTAGarage mod page. I think it's a DYOM bug that prevents parachutes from working properly.

Act I, II, III - The usual = Call of Duty - Modern Warfare

Act IV - Kills enemy and almost dies but survives in the end = Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2

Act V - ??????????????????????????????? = Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3

You should make a Act V when MW3 comes out notify.gif

It reminds Modern Warfare, but it's completely different.

It has it's inspiration from Call of Duty. But CoD is more about the Army and elite soldiers, and the story is on a global scale.

Codename: Zulu is more about a top secret F.B.I.-based organisation, and its exploits within U.S. soil as it fights some of the most dangerous threats in the United States. Since GTA SA is set in the 90's, and there is a lot of 'Fall of the wall', end-of-communism talk going around during those times (Even the characters in Single Player talk about it), I'd imagine that there would be some really pissed off pro-communist group in Russia, that places the blame on the U.S. for the collapse of Russia's government. And as a result, starts up a splinter group in the U.S. whose sole mission is to cause the U.S. government to collapse much like Russia's did.

A terrorist group operating in the U.S. is sure to attract the attention of the F.B.I. And that's where the Falling Angels come in. The F.A. has the clearance, as well as the resources, to actively attack, spy on, and disrupt the terrorist group without any form of warrant or legal binding that would otherwise slow down the force. Of course, the F.A. is a secret organisation, so anyone who joins either dies or is sent away to live quietly when they retire. So now it sounds a lot more like a cross between Hitman, Splinter Cell, as well as CoD:MW. tounge.gif

I'm going to start working on Act IV now, I think I should be done within a week, if things go smoothly, that is.

Edit: Oh and BTW Anurag, Agent Zulu has nearly died at least three times in te storyline so far. He got shot in the back at the end of Act I, nearly shot again under his previous assailant's orders at the end of Act II, and in Act III, he gets thrown off a bridge in a large explosion, and has most likely been exposed to radiation and a fast-acting virus. At the end of every Act, Zulu almost dies. That doesn't happen in MW, you either die, or you survive, but if you survive, its the end of the game. lol.gif

Yes it is. And I think you should refrain from posting unrelated stuff on threads. A PM would've been sufficient with this question

Just a small little update from me.

Act IV is coming along very smoothly, I just finished the second mission, though I think needs a little more polish. I'm going to sleep on that idea so when I do get down to mission making I don't mess something up because I'm tired.

Over the next couple of days, I'm going to focus on the last mission, I've had the main details of the mission already planned out, but I'm yet to fill in the blank areas, but those blank areas are just more room for awesome ideas to be implemented. Like I recently realised that I can put in some wonderful Object/Timeout action in one of the blank spots for a nice little scene. Anyway, I'm looking forward to making the last mission, I'm aiming for a really chaotic, desperate atmosphere for the most part, since there is going to be a massive battle between the remains of the S.S.U. and the brute-force division of the Falling Angels known as F.A.A.R.S.. Not to mention Zulu/Anthony getting caught up in that whilst trying to fight battles of his own.

There shall be a lovely little twist towards the end, and hopefully the dialogue I choose for the important cutscenes in the mission shall tie up the plot and make a few players have a slight "WTF he's right!" moment when "Phantom" and Zulu/Anthony meet for the last time. You may end up hating "Phantom" a tiny bit less than usual at one point of this mission, or maybe you won't lol It's hard to say how different people shall react to something.

Once I feel the mission is epic enough (probably when I run out of actors, or the mission reaches ten minutes in length, or some other criteria), I'll go back and polish the other two missions and then, if everything is as good as I think I can make it, I'll release the last addition to the story. I'll still do bug fixes the first few days after release, but once the bug reports die down, bug fixes will become less frequent.

After everything has been released and said and done, I may use this thread to post my own walkthroughs for this mission series, all hidden behind spoiler tags. After the mission I just made, I reckon people are going to need walkthroughs or tips just to get through some of the hardest missions in the series.

No, I do not have any other DYOM projects on hold, I haven't been thinking much about making anything after this series. Something may come to me eventually, it may be another shooter like this series, or it may be radically different, I have a wide range of tastes. One night I'll play DM on SA:MP, for example, and the next I'll play RP instead. I dabble in a bit of everything.

Anyway, I hope people are excited for this final Act. Hopefully I have accomplished my goals with this series, which were to make missions that pushed the limits of DYOM, and to make something unique and worth every bit of bandwidth used to download it. I'm far from an expert DYOM user, but I think I've still gone and made something that shall hopefully be one of the best reasons why people should download DYOM and play missions.

Act IV is out NOW!

At long last, the story is complete. There isn't much to say, other than download it fast and enjoy it! I've had fun making it, and I hope it continues to grow in popularity now that it is complete.

Don't forget to give me your feedback on this thread, rate the series on GTAGarage, and, of course, report any bugs or problems to me!

I set out to make something special, and now that I'm scrolling through a list of 22 green missions, each offering something different and highly entertaining, on top of an intriguing plot, I think it's safe to say that I've met my goals. This was my first DYOM project ever, and I think it's not a shabby job for a beginner like me!

Anyway, download it, play it, and tell me what you think!

Stay tuned to this thread every now and then, I may release bug fixed packs. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next with my DYOM career, but this thread will be the first to know until I open a new thread about whatever project I take on at that time.

Thanks for the support everyone!

leoncj:

You do notice that Toreno is still alive at the end of the story, right? He couldn't be headshotted in that mission, and he had a ton of 'health'. Pretty simple really, he had armour on and because you couldn't headshot him, you couldn't instantly kill him. Which leaves the possibility of him surviving the gunfight, which is exactly what happened.

I kind of wanted to make a bonus mission too, but I didn't have any actual ideas and rather than hold off releasing Act IV for a mission I hadn't planned (in other words, a disaster waiting to happen), I just scrapped the idea.

I gather there are no bugs to report?

Oh and btw, a hunter isn't hard to control with a game controller biggrin.gif

Don't worry, that isn't an important part of the plot And there's more to it than just Toreno. Play the missions to find out. Besides you don't know WHY it happens, WHEN it happens, or WHERE. So you're still not going to expect it when it happens. But as I said, that's not the whole plot, rather, its a small part of it.

Man, I love your work, the missions are excellent, they're fantastic! There's no word to descrive it! I spend lots of time trying to finish the missions without cheat (some of them are pretty hard). Hope you make more missions like these.

Bro, I've done the first act so far, and must I say, great storyline and features. The coma mission is cool, I felt like I was in like space or something Haha. The only problem was that on the bleed your heart out mission, everytime I go into the meat factory a random 'mission failed' pops up sad.gif

Because your team-mates "must-survive". If they die, mission fails. I recommend you to send them somewhere safe, and raid the factory yourself.

No, as soon as I teleport into the meat place; it pops up I have no time to do anything.

I'll go back to the editable and see if there's an actor or something that is spawning incorrectly, or has the capacity to do so. I think it can gain from an update anyway; more health for friends, less 'hostages' because one barrel exploding pretty much kills all of them, so just a couple of 'hostages' will be sufficient, and reduce the likelihood of enemies randomly shooting them.
