enemycamp
I recently reinstalled GTA IV after buying a new graphics card and immediately ran into a few graphical problems, one of them game-breaking. The game runs fine on high settings with a few bearable graphical glitches (such as sections of the Broker Bridge, scenery, interiors of cars disappearing/effects like fire and muzzle flash not appearing/cutscenes appearing as a black screen/other stuff) however I came upon a frustrating glitch that simply makes the game unplayable. Here's what it looks like: It'll happen any number of times in a single day of playing. It strikes my game intermittently and seems to kick in when there's a lot of stuff going on (like a firefight or a car exploding). What the hell is this? The entire screen turns black and all my surroundings get blurred and do trippy stuff on my screen. Does anyone else have this problem? Can I fix it? There's also a less important glitch that still affects the graphical quality of my game. It turns the shadows of pedestrians into long, ugly black bars that stretch on for miles. Like this: This stuff seriously detracts from an otherwise enjoyable game. I'd seriously appreciate any help you guys can lend to me. Here are my specs: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz 3.2 GB of RAM ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series Edited February 25, 2010 by enemycamp Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/441684-annoying-graphic-glitch-that-makes-game-unplayable/ Share on other sites

enemycamp
Well, I updated my drivers, which seems to have fixed most of the problems, except the big glitch still persists. My mip maps were already at the highest settings. cacarla
Try going back to older driver versions. Also, make sure your GPU isn't overheating and is stable. mkey82
Don't forget to clean up the drivers first (look in the FAQ if unsure).
