Kryten.

@Kryten: Wow I didn't know you were handy with the GFX dude, we'll have to tag that into the next setlist. That was a pretty decent cover, It takes balls to do any of those early U2 hits I pretty much want to shoot anyone going near Sunday, Bloody Sunday unless their names begins and ends with Bono. 2nd tracks pretty punky, reminds me of some early Sonic Youth or Veruca Salt.

Its a decent font. Wasn't too hard to put together but I've been doing a little bit of graphics work in the past couple years.

Magic Dirt was a local band that was doing well about 5-10 years ago or something. Not sure how big they ever got internationally though. A couple more tracks from them.

A new band that has recently hit the UK airwaves called Delphic has really caught my attention. They have songs that contain memorable pop melodies and nice synth work. Here's two of their signature tracks:

HALYCON

DOUBT

@Kryten: Yea they definitely make me think of some early mid 90's indy rock group.

@Lethal Nizzle: Hey thanks for dropping those, not bad for a 1st timer. They sound a lot like Kenna, I'm really liking the production on those two tracks.

Good song to put on first thing in the morning.

TV's kind of hit or miss for me but I really like this track.

Not sure if "synth-funk" is a genre but there's a good blend going on here.

I've been absent, and barely had the time to glance over the playlists. However, I do believe nobody posted these two.

The Cinematic Orchestra, gentlemen. One of the classiest groups of its (unique) kind to emerge.

And some Jaga Jazzist for good measure.

@Canoxa: TCO seem very Coldplay-esque, down to the melodies and the vocals. Might give them more of a listen when I can.

A mixed bag of choons here, got a mix of indie rock and soft rock.

HAPPY AS CAN BE - CUT OFF YOUR HANDS

A song off FIFA 10, a nice song that reminds of summer - a very catchy tune.

CIGARETTE SMOKER FIONA - ARCTIC MONKEYS

Classic Monkeys tune. Not into their new stuff, but the first two albums (most of all the first) were quality

KISS OF LIFE - FRIENDLY FIRES

Brilliant mix of vocals and vibrant, exotic music. Highly recommend looking up this band if you haven't!

@Canoxa: I'm impressed, dood. You haven't been in here in a while and you drop off some Cinematic Orchestra. I think Cand dropped that Animal Chin in the 1st session but I like watching that video so no harm there.

@Nizzle: I've always meant to get around to listening to more tracks by the Arctic Monkeys but I'm pretty familiar with Friendly Fires.

Love the chorus on this, sounds totally different than the verses.

Again, wait for the beat.

Dropped this the year I was born.

Speaking of Muse, I don't recall if I ever told you, but you got me in to them Meta, and they're my favorite band now. You linked to Butterflies and Hurricanes in the original Q-Media thread, I think.

And that piano solo in the middle there led me to Sergei Rachmaninov, another favorite of mine.

And yes, I know I said I was going to post more psych-rock and some post-rock, but I've been a bit busy lately. I'll get around to it eventually.

@Twig: Yes, that was the official theme of the old Q-Media thread.

The words still apply. wink.gif

@Milli: One of my ex-girlfriends dropped acid and made me sit through that Wall movie, TWICE!

Animated singing buttholes, for the win.

Here ya go, Vanilli.

Check this out, a very interesting take on MJ's, Billie Jean.

And then there was Chris Cornell's complete reinvention of the song.

Haven't heard this? You should definitely listen.

Recently saw the flick "She's Out of My League". Quite funny, also has a pretty solid soundtrack. These songs are from the film.

And here's a random classic (not from the aforementioned film). Extended version of a classic.

@meta nice, I liked all of them, meh, Nas has better instrumentals too, but the dub was aw-wob-wob-esome, the bass was kkrazy!

@Vanilla I can't honestly say that I usually agree with you in music but man, King Juju and Bill Withers were totally sweet icon14.gif

Let's keep it movin' before Waddy shuts this one down too!

Nice meta. I've heard them before, and they're definitely post rock, but it sounded p good. I feel like bands like that tend to be a dime a dozen, but I love me some Red Sparrowes, Mogwai, Kayo Dot, and on into something more like Earth, Boris, Sunn, etc etc.

Speaking of...

And a newer song from SunnO))) that sounds like Toby Driver collab'dm but he didn't...plus something much more:

And now some rainy day music. For when you live in the Cascades.

When I first got the EP containing this song, I about sh*t myself. It's right on par with their other stuff, in terms of atmosphere and just the right amount of melody, but it's so different at the same time. Much less dissonant and much more "shoegazey". And listening ito it at 33 rpm instead of 45 like it's supposed to is f*cking rad.

@Cheat: That Loop Troop instrumental was defintely on point.

@Moon: Desert coyotes and shaman mystics run through my head every time I listen to your stuff. I really liked that 3rd, Wolves in the Throne Room track, Epic.

@Vaniller: Holy Sh!t, man. I love Black Kids!

The band's pretty cool too, can't believe I haven't played any tracks by them yet.

Pretty decent remix actually.

There are like 30 remixes of this, I had a hard time pinning down the original. lol.

The chick who sings this is pretty cute actually.

Yea those Lost Fingers dudes are pretty bad ass, I only recently started listening to them. They do very original covers of a wide genre of songs, kind of like Richard Cheese in that respect.

This cover of Stevie Wonder's Part Time Lover put a big stupid grin on my face the first time I listened to it.

Compare it to the original.

Here's another one that sprung to mind right away but I forgot to post.

I first heard Morphine's The Night, off the album of the same name, on Cracked.com's Hate By Numbers bit, and I pretty much fell in love with it right away. So much that I named my cat Lilah after the titular character.

Cover of a Kinks track. Pretty chill considering it comes from a band known for having some fast and heavy-ish songs.

John Lennon's son singing about the actual girl who inspired "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds", who passed away last year.

A personal favorite of mine. I love me some blur.

And the song that initially got me into them.

@Twig: I quite like that, makes me think a bit of some old Leonard Cohen track.

@Vanilli: So weird I can't listen to a Blur track anymore without thinking about The Gorillaz.

Probably my favorite Blur Video.

One of the most influencial song writers across all major genres of all time.

Nice and even, puts me in a good mood.

@Kryten: Wolfmother RAWK's. Woman is another song I like playing on Guitar Hero.

Ok, so this sounds like a really nice song but it's not. Opening words are, "eat sh!t and die".

These guys are kind of a mixture of Fleet Foxes mixed with Animal Collective.

Nice Combination.

In reply to Wolfmother, here's a song from them that was featured in The Hangover - not a bad listen either:

Me again, not paid a visit in a while, hoping to redeem that with some good music.

(the video for this one is particularly amazing, I recommend a watch)

Hope you enjoy them.

Yes, I know it's Hall & Oates, but f*ck it, I like 'em, and this song could fit perfectly here.

You gotta love the '80s music/music videos.

I'll post some more stuff tonight.

You brought it, girlfriend. You've been holding out on us. dude, those were all pretty fresh.

That Caribou track and Scoobius Pip were particular standout's and new for me. I think you posted a Scoobius track elsewhere and I really liked it, I'll have to look into him. Man speaks the truth. Lobstersdust is probably right next to Earworm as far as Mash Up DJ's go.

@Vanilli: I ain't hating on Hall & Oates, they made consistantly quality music and sang at the Apollo theater with some of the biggest names in R&B, commercial success or not they had their sh*t together and bowed out before they could be seen as lame.

@Nizzle: I wonder if that song title is a reference to the opening line of Jimmy Hendrix's All Along the Watch Tower.

Time to Bring it back myself.

and on and on and on and on and on and...

Hands Up, Toes Down.

@Canexy: Good Call, I posted that Sing It Back somewhere near the tail end of Session 1 I think, love it. It's like some kind of crazy nu disco heaven update or something, the girls cute to boot. Worth the double click to get past the b.s. disabled embedding.

I can see this sexy beat sliding down a stripper pole somewhere.

Smoothed Out & Cut Up, just the way we likes.

I watched a bit of Roisin live. Didn't stick around because it was at a festival, in the afternoon - not the best setting to enjoy the music. Great show, nonetheless, her voice does not suffer from being outside the confined walls of the studio at all.

I just really dig that track it sounds like it's ripped straight out off a 1978 dancefloor. Have you heard that "Ramses! Colossus!" Indigo & Tatty Narja song they do? Completely bizarre. biggrin.gif

The lyrics on this are so dirty and crude for a song posing as a teenage romance diddy, cracks me up everytime.

You've probably heard this on a few commercials.

Meant to play this one the other day.
