Stars always seemed to cheer me up with depressing songs. It's her voice, it's so goddamn pretty.

Also, a Smiths cover:

I think I got a Q-13 setlist out to anyone who's participated in the thread thus far if I missed you or you just want a copy of it, let me know.

Real Groovin' track by Nitin Sawney.

This duo out of New York is doing a pretty decent job of fusing a classic disco sound with some of the newer techniques.

Nice use of sudo-minimal beats on this one.

Damn it's been deader than Tara Reid's acting career up on the Music boards tonight.

Tara: angry.gif"f*ck You, meta, you self righteous twat! I'm just in a bit of a slump right now, I was in The Big Lebowski, For f*ck's Sake!"

Fair Enough.

@Stefche: Generic Dub? Scientist is anything but.

We dropped one of his tracks earlier in the thread much love for that dude.

@Shake: really liked lyrics on that 1st one you posted, sweetly cynical.

@Wingman: I had a little more time to sit and listen to those Stars tracks this evening and really liked'em. I think you'd really benefit from checking out The xx, posted back on page 1, very similar and cool.

@KK If you're going to play Crockett's theme isn't it only fair that I get to play Rico Tubb's?

ROFFFFFFFFFFFLz,

After that sheer bit of ridiculous torture let me spoil you guys with this, the piano on this is undeniable.

Another slightly upbeat offering just to shake the cobwebs out.

That Ting Ting's song reminds me of driving around the beach in my ex girlfriend's convertible. Them was some good times.

Also, if you like that, try The Sounds:

EDIT: @Meta, you were right, I do like the XX. Didn't even see them there on my first scan-through of the forums. They always seem to make me want to listen to Tilly and the Wall, who, for anyone who was wonder, is f*cking amazing live.

@Obliv: My wife's a big fan of Franz, usually dig his stuff. He gets decidedly more experimental on some other tracks on his albums.

@Wing: Glad we could work out an exhange, That Tilly & the Wall seems pretty fun and easy to get through without being grating.

Love Bossa Nova haven't really played much in the thread, thus far.

A virtual TON of DJ's and producers have taken a crack at remixing this classic but the original is still so very good on it's own.

The incomperable, Nina Simone.

Easy smooth track, deadpan emcee, no stress.

Anyone who's down with the Mode is cool with me. Hole to Feed is one bizarre, cool video. The Wrong video really set the tone this go-around.

@KK: Well come on with it, brewski.

@TPFS: I really liked that 1st clip, it actually really picked up at around the 4 minute mark, the 2nd clip you posted was removed only moments after you posted it. Just EDIT in something else on your next visit I suppose.

@Cheat: Thanks for thinking of us though I heard some dude telling people not to vote for us because this wasn't posted in 09 or some crap. tounge.gif I do recall one of the previous Awards years being based on everything up until the actual New Awards began but I suppose that's on the staff one way or another.

I keep trying to remember where I recognize that Sister Nancy track from.. like it was sampled or used as the hook for some other song, it's bugging me.

Just started getting into some Flying Lotus, check this jive sh*t out.

This tracks creeps up on you nice N easy.

Introducing Hooverphonic, the group that wanted to be Portishead so bad they could taste it. Nice Try. colgate.gif

Madlib forever.

I listen to the Quasimoto all day. His music is so smooth and chill it is incredibly insane. I like madlib because his music can go way beyond hip-hop, and still be dope to spit to. I owned his Unseen album, I was dearly happy it came with a "lyrics" cd and of course "instrumentals" CD, I couldn't take my ears off the album for weeks just had my brain rotating.

@DOOM! Jones: Yea loving both those dudes. Quasi in particular was always finding his way on my Green Lantern\ Beat Junkie Compilations and I always thought he sounded dope.

I'll drop off these last few tunes for the night for the kids to see them off to bed.

A very decent cover of Gnarl's Barkley's, Crazy.

A very interesting version of Britney Spears, Toxic. Yael Naim really reinvents the song from the floor up.

The N.A.S.A project is probably one of the most diverse mixing of artists since UNKLE. Loving Kool Keith on this.

Well, rules are made to break, right? biggrin.gif

If not this year then next it is!

And to that Sister Nancy song, I assume that you might have heard it in the soundtrack of skate.

Is where I heard it.

There are many versions of this song, but somehow I find this with all the synth effects and the weird over-the-top talkboxing the most relaxing version. *cough* sample *cough*

Also, to throw up some punk-ish sound here, I know, this is quite not into this topic but if the point is giving warm nostalgic vibes with plain love for the music, this will be just fine.

I added too much crap there but I just wanted to try (;

I don't usually do an artist "block" but with the new Gorillaz album dropping nation wide today I figure I'll do a N.A.S.A. block because if you dig them you should definitely dig the crazy blended eclectic sounds on these. There's an all-star line up on this album.

@Wreckless: Thanks for dropping off the caribean tunage, boi.

Featured on one of my fav tracks on the new Gorrilaz album, I'm really glad I checked these guys out.

Very sexy, kinda spooky. Love it.

Crunching your whole band into an elevator to perform a song, cool.

Ripping pages from a magazine to keep the beat, kick ass.

I'd have to agree. "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" could be perceived as a thinly veiled endorsement of Lifestyle tolerance but I think that lyrically you could apply it to any prejudice. Really liked that 6th Borough track as well. Thanks for the nice view of the ocean, makes me miss Florida.

@Shake: Mishka! That dude got his big break when actor, Matthew McConaughey heard him and decided to produce his record. I was just thinking yesterday I wanted to post one of his songs but you beat me to it.

Twang of Calimari

Here's some stuff that's more leaning to the psychedelic rock side of things.

This is off of Ozric Tentacles' most recent (I believe) album The Yumyum Tree, and the rest of the album is more or less the same. They've been around for some time, since '84 according to Wiki so they have a few more albums which I've yet to even listen to.

As per stoner rock tradition, this is a 15 minute tune about ziggurats and aviators and sh*t. It's actually the shorter of the two tracks on the album, Conference of the Birds.

I'm sure you'll recognize this tune from San Andreas. This is one of their more chill songs, but all of their songs are pretty downbeat. I definitely recommend the whole album (self-titled, only the 20th anniversary edition has Fools Gold on it).

When I first started getting in to Krautrock, as many others, Can was the first band I turned to. Love this tune here, and the rest of the album (Tago Mago) features a few similar tracks, but gets a bit weird at times.

I don't really have much to say about these guys. Old school stoner/space rock. Off their album In Search of Space, which is pretty much more of the same.

I could maybe go on with the psych rock sh*t, or I have a bit of post-rock that some of you may be interested in. What say ye?

Thanks for the support and what a great way to break into the topic, I've been meaning to post some Zero 7 or even their former front woman, Sia for quite some time now and haven't gotten around to it.

@Twang: Bring it on Chemo-slobby. Trippy psychedelic rock can certainly find it's way in here.

The Hotel Costes Compilations are some of the most consistently well done in the lounge genre by DJ Stéphane Pompougnac.

You never go wrong picking one of these up and there's a lot of them, like 12 volumes.

Pete Rock, pretty much one of the original innovators of that jazz hop sound.

Can't believe I haven't dropped any DJ Cam in here yet.

Dude's comparable to Shadow or Krush.Check this out.
