@Straws: Your father has some decent taste in music. Melody AM is one of those rare flawless albums, easily in my top ten Chill Out albums of all time. I liked that Andrew Gentry mix quite a bit as well.

I'm actually pretty picky about Ambient as a genre but these guys are always pretty listenable.

They're kind of a movie score, Explosions In The Sky with light vocals to give it some depth.

Cam is kind of one of those people who've quietly made some great hip hop and trip hop tracks over the years without getting a ton of recognition.

If you dig Nightmares On Wax or Mark Farina he'll be right up your alley.

Don't think I've played anything by these guys since Session 1. Past due.

Seeing these guys (well, guy) tonight. Should be a great show, the guy's an incredible guitarist.

@Cheat: Slum Village is always on point.

@Paddywack: Welcome. I've been way into Emancipator as well over the last year, I really like their track Soon It will Be Cold Enough to Build Fires . Check it out if you haven't already.

@Seb: It's been a minute, welcome back, brewski. All the tracks were great but I'm sort of at a tie between Shelter From The Ash and Khidr and the Fountain. He has a pretty solid southwestern style about his music but there's also some middle eastern influence at certain bits, I dig it.

Step into the spirit of things for a moment. Love this artwork as well.

Heavy is the toll.

Pick things up with this new Machinedrum album.

There's a pretty decent review of it

I've been listening to this song for a bit, dubstep remix of a song from the movie "Trainspotting"

@Dance: Classic tune, decent remix as well. Been a while, welcome bake.

@Skins: They have a really polished sound, I can see it going well.

@D: Great find, I ended up listening to quite a bit of Zombie after you posted that.

@Vanilli: Some nice melodic rock to even things out.

This is probably one of my favorite locals. Really hope they get their record deal ironed out.

A great tribute. R.I.P. Nujabes.

This little indy DJ has some great beats and a lot hosted on YT atm.

@Craig: I always enjoy your spins, that Jamelia remix was a real standout.

@Fuzz: I get a semi just seeing your name after the words "posted by". That was one of my fav tracks off the songs you recently posted on FB, I like the way it scales down in the last bit.

Take my breath away.

Another cover. This ones off the recent Buddy Holly tribute album, Rave On, definitely worth a listen.

Been digging High Contrast in a big way lately. He's unsurpassed by anyone else in the DnB scene for creativity imo.

Can any of you recommend any good trip-hop, been meaning to look into it, or just anything similar to this song.

Shoot, this is good too! I might just be a fan of RJD2.

Can any of you recommend any good trip-hop?

Welcome, sure can.

Nightmares on Wax, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Portishead, Hooverphonic also Mark Farina and his Mushroom Jazz compilations are top notch as well.

@Straws: I noticed a sort of harsh YT comment on that Damian Marley mash up but I quite enjoyed it.

And now for a few lesser known trip hop artists:

Nice imagery.

Love the classic 1920's vibe going on with this.

Cool video concept.

@meta: Really enjoyed that Recoil tune, will be checking them out more.

@Xboxless: When it comes to trip hop the quitessential act for is Cannibal Ox.

Vast Aire is one half of the act, the other being Vordul Mega - they've released a lot of solo stuff.

It's been quite a while, to say the least. Pardon any repeats.

This is as good a place as any to start, so I'll go with a recent discovery of mine: Red Sparowes.

Some random fella added me on last.fm, and when I was checking his charts to see if maybe I knew him from some where, a rather long song title (#2, to be exact) caught my eye. I listened to the whole album. The titles refer to the 'Great Leap Forward' which is a part of the history of China that I, personally, wasn't aware of. Interesting stuff. That random fella and I both agreed that they aren't the best post-rock band out there, but it's definitely worth a listen, and I'm sure there's someone here who'll appreciate it.

"What do you call the best post-rock band out there then, you sonuvabitch?" you might be asking. Well, the genre isn't my forte, so I won't say I know who the best is, but my personal favorite is...This Will Destroy You.

The first time I heard this, I likened it to floating in the water just off a deserted beach. Just letting the waves guide you, y'know. Just listen, I'll let it speak for itself.

Anyway, for a bit of a change of pace, here's something even chiller (more chill? what?)

I was gonna post an Organic Stereo song, but the one I wanted wasn't on the 'Tube. Really killer project there, and such an apt name. They're sort of my favorite little secret, since they seem to be pretty unknown. Tycho is sort of in the same vein. They get compared to Boards of Canada a lot, but I can't comment on that since I'm not too familiar with that group. Oh well, it's nice.

Now, for the one song in this post with vocals in an even bigger change of pace, from my favoritest band ever and forever: Tegan and Sara.

Twin sisters, lesbians, and Canadian. What's not to love? Also, their music is f*cking lovely.

This song and I have a little story I like to tell, but I'm sure no one cares to hear. I got in to T&S about a year ago, starting with Sainthood and working my way to The Con. Then there was a bit of a lul where I almost moved on. That moving on was stopped when I had an odd dream about listening to what can only be described as "a f*cking fantastic song," and during the dream I looked at my iPod to see what it was, and all I remember seeing was it was a T&S song that I didn't recognize. The next day, after work, I looked through my hard drive to find something and this song caught my eye, from their debut album Under Feet Like Ours. The rest is history.

Been lost in the sounds of Pink Floyd again lately, Animals is definitely an underrated album.

To me, Animals is their best album by far. I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I was a few years ago. I wouldn't say that I've grown out of them, rather I've grown into other genres and bands. Now and again I'll listen and get absolutely lost in the fog that is Sheep and find myself humming Pigs On The Wing long after it's left my speakers.

Anyway, enough waffle.

Okay, I had to repost just to respond - Sheep is my favorite Pink Floyd song, and definitely one of my favorite songs in general, and the only reason I didn't post it is because I have already done it. Now, I know that there's no "no reposting songs" - rule, but I try not to repeat myself too much... As much as I love The Wall, Sheep is better than any song out of the album, then again The Wall is the best prog rock album on the Earth...

Let's switch it up.

I think for the first time in ages I'm actually all caught up on the Setlist prior to the actual end of the current Session so the wait on this next one won't be long at all once we hit the end of page 60.

@Warlord. Pretty mystical my brother.

@Straws: I'm a big Ox fan but I think you know that already.

@Sakuya: Welcome, great selections and some nice descriptions to boot. I was listening to quite a bit of Tycho about two months back, I think they do have similarities to Boards Of Canada but use a few contemporary techniques that set them forward a bit.

@Cheat & Vanilla: I have a lot of mixed emotions on Pink Floyd, they were definitely innovative for their time and influenced the sh*t out of a lot of other artists I think I just spent too much time hearing it at one point as well.

@Craig: You're not making it easy to narrow it down to one track, you've had a lot of great spins this Session. I was all about that Homeboy track.

It's like the 2nd coming of Intergalactic. Same guy who did that super funny I'm On Crack video directed this.

Old School refs out the yang.

Something new.

Been firing through my dad's Röyksopp CDs lately; totally spur of the moment but I'm now so glad I did. Can anyone recommend other acts who are in a similar vein?

Royksopp are great. Like Meta said, try Boards of Canada also Air and Kruder & Dorfmeister. Picked me up a K&D album lately and have been loving it.

Try Moon Safari by Air, it's seems to be one of the most accessible/popular one of their albums that would sound most similar to Royksopp I thinks.

Dropping a little LMFAO then, meta? Love those dudes. Their entire new album is a good mix of what you're probably wanting from them.
